Last week Colorado Democrat show Salazar made some stunning comments while arguing for a ban on concealed weapons.
On college campuses.
Whether we have call boxes.
That's why we have safe zones.
That's why we have the whistles.
Because you just don't know -- you're going to be shooting that.
And you don't know all -- You feel like you're gonna be raped or do you feel like someone's been following you around or if you feel like you're in trouble and when you may actually not be.
But you talk about that -- -- -- -- Well around that somebody.
Okay Salazar has since apologized for his comments -- think.
But he's still stands for a gun ban my next -- have some pretty good arguments to proof why the Colorado lawmaker is wrong.
Two enemy is Julianna Crowder co-founder of a girl in the -- That's a woman's shooting -- and also -- Cheney she is the mother of two young children.
And a competitive shooter it's good to have both of you.

By the is this another round are represented about in Colorado and again I scratch my head and say good heavens.
What is it that he doesn't yet.
He doesn't get that it's offensive it's at condescending.
It's disrespectful of women in general.
I'm -- assume that we don't have the ability to know when we're in danger -- -- track star fear instincts.
And that we're not capable using a firearm to defend herself if that god -- should happen to be the last resort.
And -- you heard this you know just a few weeks ago we were hearing that women need to be in combat because they were just his confidence man.
I guess now we're just gonna -- in any combat but only with the whistle.
Hope I -- a bit this is amazing how did you react when you heard his comments.
I'm really kind of upset by that comment because for me.
It shows that he's never talked to a rape victim he's never talked to a person who actually uses a gun for self defense.
Because a gun for self defenses the last line of defense if you have a whistle great but if that doesn't work can find a safe song great.
But really I just think that the idea.
Did you know as a person I can't make the decision to protect myself -- crazy and he hasn't done any research and Brooke this is very personal to you.
And I I don't mean to open very tough wound that.
Tell us why this is deeply personal and this is more than something abstract.
IRA when I was a teenager.
Gang raped by over ten boys.
And you know he talks about safe zones and it's like when you look at but the limited statistics you can pound on rape.
This anywhere from sixty to 80% you already think you're in a safe zone when you're being raped because it's family and friends.
Not some guy in a dark Alley for the -- part and.
You've seen this huge surge of women.
Who are obtaining firearms and learning how to use them is that why you started the the organization you did a -- -- Well actually I was it just desiring to have more women join me sheeting rain stay lean that you know anything from target practice -- taken a class you.
Joining me in action shooting sports and I thought I -- a fun social stress -- stress free environment that they went com.
I'd be more willing to learn and be more excited wanna participate and what we consider to be a male dominated sport.
Stay despite having girls -- that if she ranging and having some truly all -- time to get comfortable with a firearm alarms is felt that.
I -- we've been extremely successful I just in two years went eleven states 26 chapters and over 930.
Members right now they just love coming together is winning and helping each other learning she'd gotten isn't.
It look at it as a hobby as -- well last self defense.
You know both of you are young and attractive women and and you don't fit the stereotype that sometimes people.
Are gonna say well yeah was some women you know they'll wanna shoot guns but you know they could -- -- -- -- their bare hands so I just want to make clear that.
You know you guys look pretty doggone normal to me.
But that he had friends that came up to -- Julianna and said.
What's wrong with you are you not she wanted to but shoot guns.
I'm I had people ask me what I'm afraid I'm.
Added I say I'm not afraid of anything because I pay attention what you know is going on around -- and I'm prepared for several different situations that I may face.
You know at any point in my life.
-- -- do you get any other response said.
You sheep pens are I would have never -- say -- EU -- -- action shooter and even an airport when we have to check -- our guns and you know that's the ticket agent said he -- I.
-- yeah -- married -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Brooke eat your own personal experience certainly -- covers a lot of this but you have two children as well.
And it is it -- it says I don't want to be a victim ever again.
Well there's a part of it -- I don't want to be victim but the other part is just it's another skill it's no different than playing golf.
And it's one of those things where.
My husband travels I know it takes half an hour for -- state trooper to get to my house when my alarm goes off.
And I have to precious lives to protect at home.
So I want to make sure that not only -- as my family say if my children understand how to handle firearms.
But to make sure that I am safe and it's just important to me and a -- so just get better and better -- and train all the time so.
I I find fun finding other women at the clubs as well.
-- wanna thank both of you for being here Julianna and Brooke it's great to talk to -- sounds like that for you gun control doesn't seem to be the answer or maybe I should say gun control for you.
He's using both hands and -- carefully I get the picture -- Thanks so much that.
