As we inch closer to -- -- deadline and as President Obama continues to deploy is irresponsible scare tactics about what could happen.

There are reports that Republicans are working on a bill that would give the president's cabinet members the authority to target cuts in their respective agencies' budgets but.

Is there any truth to these reports and can -- sequester be avoided joining me now.

In studio to help answer those questions and more Kentucky senator Rand Paul are you senator -- good to see them -- event.

Good welcome to what New York.

And the Big Apple tonight I don't know about this very -- -- a small town guy from Kentucky just be careful if any it if you're carrying a gun and or anybody with the only allowed seven bullets.

I was more worried about the big gulp I had a big al-Qaeda here and that's -- -- -- strength I'm -- your -- is gonna arrest me now it is actually gonna have to restaurants now which is pretty crazy.

It -- frustrates me.

The average wealth of the average American in the last five years has gone down 22%.

And everybody out there watching this program for the most -- had to make decisions.

To cut spending.

And what I spend as much this year pretty much who spent last year.

And the president scaring the living daylights out of the country and -- -- why can't we make even a basic what can we just keep the budget the city.

If we can't cut this little bit -- and this is really cut in the rate of increase.

Where will we ever move forward are we really destined for bankruptcy in this country if we can't cut the rate of growth.

Because that's what we're talking about over ten years the one point two trillion dollars in cuts.

Actually allows the budget to grow over ten years slower slower growth so every year we have this thing it's called baseline budgeting I'll let you explain it to people.

Basically the budgets always going up several percentage points a year were slowing down the rate of growth.

-- the first year there is a little bit of dip in spending in discretionary spending so some budgets they -- to look at.

But interestingly.

All of these budgets went up 17%.

Under Obama and other -- -- down two to 6% they'll still be way above when he came in office.

I've also present a plan that would allow us to do this without any layoffs.

We have a 100000 people who retired -- don't replace -- We pay federal employees 16% more than private employees equalize the -- -- Cut out half a foreign -- Cut out 25% travel -- you -- -- sequestered nobody got laid off you know by the way I was really disappointed you had a an amendment.

That would -- prevented.

The US from we're paying for them F sixteens and tanks.

And one point five billion going more see them Muslim Brotherhood leader of Egypt that white and more Republicans worry about that you now lost the majority of the Republicans but we had nineteen votes were making some progress we lost all the Democrats.

I ask us secretary Kerry this is he is coming before my committee for confirmation I was like.

When you like to at least placed some conditions what about waiting a year.

-- -- and -- -- the Muslim Brotherhood becomes.

More scary less stable or -- even -- -- a year before you send these -- Their argument is over sending him to the military and that's not -- military that the more she fired the Millen years ahead of the -- -- -- and yes the head of the military now is a more -- appointees so I don't know what they're sank.

But I think it's foolish and dangerous and eventually those weapons might be used against Israel how do you go up against the president that's a demagogue puts it this is what the latest is in Georgia with 4180.

Fewer children -- get vaccines for measles mumps rubella tetanus etc.

In New York 2300 disadvantage vulnerable children could lose.

Child care.

I mean.

What about the children that are gonna have to pay all -- money back here's what we should say number one Mr.

President the -- was your idea.

And number two you're making those cuts because we've offered other cuts.

I told him yesterday there's some goldfish that they've been -- in five million dollars on research on goldfish to see how they interact collectively -- democratically.

They spent a million and a half on -- important stuff yeah a million and a half on -- -- beef jerky kind 300000 dollars on dog kennels.

A 100000 dollars on comedians that we send to India.

The list goes on and on and on it and so when you're basically say there's another way to do this the president obviously wants to demagogue -- -- -- and portray Republicans.

Says aiding children Grande mine and morning -- air and water all the stuff.

-- I don't think the Republicans have been effective in combating.

This language these tactics of the president and the Democrats what can they do better.

Really need to be -- -- for Haiti they need to come forward and say we can survive the sequester.

We can do this question without layoffs if you'll actually targets -- towards waste in government.

There's a hundred billion dollars in our government spending.

That is unaccounted for.

They do not know where it was -- hundred million a hundred billion billion unaccounted for.

What I don't know disappeared well it's improperly spent they're not sure exactly where is -- well that's that's just great to hear really has me confident yeah.

I think the national defense is the most important thing we do in Washington it is a constitutional duty however.

The Pentagon should be audited some have estimated 25 billion in savings.

By simply counting it -- listen I'm all for them even under the -- they keeps talking about eight -- thousand.

Civilians are going to be laid off from the Pentagon I don't believe it.

Because the Pentagon is increasing their budget as a result of the seat in terms -- real dollars let me ask you this -- -- for senate stars you're one of them.

You Marco Ted Cruz and likely.

Seem to be the real strong conservative voices that I looked to took to bring some sanity back to Washington to you all friends.

Yeah we have lunch together couple times a week we get Gloria well Melamine on with the whole group that we do -- together and we get along we work on different issues together.

And I see a lot of the -- and us being new members of the senate.

The system beats you down and that's why I'm a big believer in term limits we need more roll over more turnover.

Because after you've been a while just hard to have the energy it takes to combat government -- just this enormous -- at the it's hard to combat that government.

Lot of speculation you might run for president.

I know it's early buddy -- you it seems you are thinking about.

I think the country is seeing in the Republican Party in particular we're not doing very well in New England were on the West Coast.

And I think we may need a different type of Republican moment libertarian Republican leanings that's how you -- -- as a libertarian Republican chair Republican constitutional conservative a lot of different labels.

But someone who can -- independents who says look.

I believe in a strong national defense but we don't have to be involved in every war around the world.

I believe that government does have a prerogative to tell you yes it's not good -- -- -- use drugs but if you make -- mistake -- -- go to prison for twenty -- -- I think -- -- -- Have more lenient policy towards non violent crime.

On immigration I think we need to embrace immigrants.

My family came as -- in -- -- great grandson of immigrants we are okay here we need to embrace immigrants and say that there an asset to our society.

I think -- -- -- -- Really can have a big impact on the country so it's going to be -- -- -- watch all the so called for the C in New York.

But shadow fell more than seven bullets and you can't have it more than sixteen ounces are Coke.

I don't know how men make it -- -- -- and you don't get salt if you go to -- restaurant on your table unless you request it.

Do you know how many bullets that the police -- on average to bring down one assailant.

Five bullets.

-- what it is -- -- what if -- -- various elements and you're not a police and and by the way if you handshaking -- nervous but I bet you're real trouble.

And better not to reload -- three people breaking in your house.

Great point.

Good to see senator thank you coming up.
