For the first time since the election in November governor Mitt Romney speaking publicly he and his wife and sitting down for an exclusive interview you'll only see on FOX News Sunday with anchor.

Chris Wallace had talked to Chris just a few moments ago.

Chris Wallace with me now sir good morning to you.

I'm warning you about this there are so many topics out of Washington.

I mean even just today I want to start there with the news of the day.

How did he say or how did he -- the beginning of Obama's second term.

Well you know it's just there's a lot of emotion it in this interview with -- -- Romney and and I think that it was a very poignant time to interview them.

Right now because they both the -- That he would have been uniquely qualified to avoid the sequestered to avoid the mess we're in now.

Here's here's a brief part of the interview we talk about that.

How do you think the president has handled it.

The sequester the 85.

He didn't think that's -- question what happen it is happening but but today what we've seen is.

The president about campaigning to the American people doing rallies around the country flying around the country.

And the rating Republicans and blaming -- point now what does that do that -- the Republicans sit to retrench.

And that put up a wall in the fight back it's a very natural human emotion the president.

Has the opportunity.

To lead the nation and to bring Republicans and Democrats together its job he's got to do and it's -- job only the president can do.

The Obama administration is right now releasing hundreds.

Of illegal immigrants who have been slated for deportation.

Because they say they can't afford to -- What do you think of.

I think the president has to act in the interest of the country.

And and that means if we need an aircraft carrier in the in the gulf and I believe we we do I thought when you do one more that he should do it.

I think if there are people who incarcerated.

He should make sure that that that we're able to keep them in jail.

Look it's again it's.

It's politics it's okay how do we do something that would get a headline the will make it but it looked like those terrible Republicans -- willing to come together.

And you know I would say bill that was his real complaint is he's sad that the campaign is over and yet the president seems -- continue to campaign.

And and that's where I think he felt the frustration he said when he was governor he would -- sat down with the other side and his -- the Democrats.

And try to work out -- said the last thing that happens is if you looked back the other side.

They get their backs up debris is he's -- -- and there's no possibility but DL and he thinks the president's warrants that the scoring political points than in getting a deal.

I think it's fascinating -- a couple three more things -- whipped through quickly.

Did you ask him abouts.

How he lost the election about the Obama ground game.

About the technology the Democrats use to find voters who were not even on the roles in 2008.

Yes he he says part of but he blames on the primary is and says look I was fighting for my life and by the time the primaries were -- -- -- I was out of money.

And we -- -- outside -- for now selection and the president of -- So we had a big advantage there but he admits they got -- organized.

Lightning round continues.

As we turn it on you what did you learn that you did not expect from this.

Well I I think.

He's in a much better place I don't wanna make us some -- but he's in a better place than she is he really does seem to have come to terms with -- -- be moving forward.

I asked her point blank and Romney are you over it gotten she does know it's gonna take its gonna take so while.

You know they're not better.

But they're terribly disappointed and again.

They really think wish that they were in Washington with a -- pants on the levers of power so they could avoid the situation -- she's still going through this there.

-- I think they both artists under great but but it seemed more than a game.

Another question here.

They were as confident I believe from the outside looking in on Election Day they thought they were gonna win.

And -- I'm curious to know what did they tell you about the information they were getting that led them to believe that right up until election.

Well you know they they -- the public polls and they knew that but on the other hand they saw the tremendous enthusiasm of the crowds there were some internal -- And they both of -- she says she totally believe that they were gonna win this is on election night.

He's that.

You know I was kind of -- selected my -- sad.

-- you know it's going to be very close we might not Wendy's about my part I totally believe we were gonna win.

Which made the defeat even more -- and one of the things we talked about is the difference between -- -- here going up a hundred miles an hour.

And when it's over and the Secret Service lays on the crowds -- I mean we had dinner the night before.

He you know he drove with Vietnam he drove the car does nobody else there -- we had to wait on line.

To get seated at at at a table for dinner and they ended up driving me problems so.

Life is different than it would have been better things got a little different last November that.

Fascinating look -- reported seeing all of this Sunday Chris -- a lot of people -- and waiting to see and and hear from him.

And now we will get that chance check local listings FOX News Sunday only with Chris Wallace thank you --
