On the -- today -- score a mystery death of a dog.

Rocking the world of canine competitions.

Cruise.

A prize winning dog show shot show dog considered a rising star in those circles suddenly died.

Just days after with the world -- Westminster dog show which is of course the Super Bowl for dogs.

The owner suspects that her beloved pet was deliberately poisoned.

Touching off a round of accusations and finger pointing and it's also giving us a fascinating glimpse into -- surprisingly intense world of dog shows.

Our legal panel just ahead the first Trace Gallagher brings us up to speed Trace.

Just -- you know -- is a three year old was a three year old Sam -- begging you talk about rising star this dog was ranked seventh in the world he was actually at the Colorado dog show.

-- he began throwing up blood was rushed to the vet and many died the vet said the symptoms were very consistent with the eating rat poisoning.

But Cruz was cremated no -- crops he was done through the exact cause of death will never -- now but.

The symptoms of rat poisoning take about three to five days to appear which means.

If he was poison it happened at the Westminster dog show so they checked out the hotel in Manhattan no sign of rat poisoning there.

The only time the dog was several loan says -- handler was during the show's benched period that's in the dogs.

Are in assigned area with the other owners and breeders.

And cruises handler think's the worst listen.

We whole -- believe that.

He was intentionally poisoned I don't believe it was another competitor by any means.

I believe it was somebody who is sick.

He believes that sick person was an animal rights activists right who criticize the dog shows for things like.

While -- has protested Westminster but they called these accusations preposterous.

And cruise's older agrees listen.

The accusation is -- -- and he hasn't even identified the person.

As an animal rights activist it was someone who criticized him.

So really there is no solution here no new crops he was should point out back in 1895 there were eight dogs at Westminster show -- were -- that was because of jealousy well over a hundred years big mystery -- Wow all right Trace thank you bring our panel now to discuss it just build more defense attorney and former prosecutor Mercedes Colin -- a Fox News legal analyst.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Murder.

You know in my mind it was murder there's a whole Lotta circumstantial evidence that would point to -- the problem is.

We've got no dog that we can now test and nobody thought anything but Magid.

-- it did happen at this dog -- I imagine there had to be.

Cameras all over the place may be if they took a look back to see if there's anything we -- going on we might -- the -- somebody throwing.

A tree a poison tree in this dog's cage that's what I.

Because Mercedes they have it down they say to a four hour window because when your when your dog like this you have a handler with you all time it's not like our our real dogs and regular families.

And they say is a four hour window that he was not intended immediately by that they handler and that that is the time in which they believe he was poisoned so.

You know there's only a limited suspected pool of -- All right sure I mean there might be but there -- so many other things personal even the vet came and said they don't have to see admit inadvertently dogs don't make the right choices obviously that may have happened so even the -- -- -- little suspicious as to whether there was foul play.

No one is really point about play if Peta officials are covered these Peta folks are coming forward that it kind of nonsensical -- -- -- -- -- poisoned dog.

Because this particular dog was actually.

It to me if that's.

There and that I think is the alleged motive here -- -- because that that's my first thought why would Peta.

That devotes his entire existence to the protection of animals right intentionally harm or kill a dog.

And that I -- is the motivation because to protest what had been done to this doctor dog shows and that vocal cord thing.

And at that well you know and that's this ad -- -- now urging perhaps into the bedroom but we have people abortion civil war against abortion who killed.

Doctors who performed them at the same kind of thing -- if you're trying to preserve life.

When you -- the handler I mean you -- well -- you don't kill the dog.

And you would think that -- so there really two possible -- the people want as a competitor at this with the jealousy thing and the other is perhaps Pete and I think in this particular case somebody did say some.

Thing today handler something off collar about the oh yeah he's -- he's well he says that there was a man at the dog show.

Who is just Galilee at me and telling me how cool I was but Mercedes as the Peta person points out.

-- guy didn't even identify -- person as a member repeat our you know what was.

Exactly right I mean even the handler despite that they might be some backpedaling too because this is not a -- person.

No they didn't come forward and say anything other other than make a face and help -- interpret that faces.

Some have been indicative of person's gonna target crews now -- he -- something if he said he this year cruel then obviously the person had a motivation but but it's really honestly doesn't make sense thank you for someone -- says this dog has been has been.

It is mistreated and I'm gonna kill the dog.

And frankly this -- so commonplace hits he had many more of these incidents happening the last since that it was 1895 -- dogs are poison wound it's a little bit.

-- -- because if they -- if it's if an animal rights lover thought that this is a form of mercy you know the -- the -- of the vocal -- stop for barking I actually didn't know that that is.

Not -- in my view and but if they apparently this is a common practice China so there if that was the motivation -- And -- has a point we would probably see more things.

You know we might but you know when nobody's dog shows like the like you pointed out there was a tiny tiny window where this dog is -- the -- aren't like.

But running wild indiscriminately eating out well -- mean there under scrutiny all the time so it would be hard.

To commit this kind of crime not -- possible obviously but pretty -- call.

And they went back to the hotel Mercedes the hotel said that they do not use rat poisoning because that's that the vet said this is consistent with rat poisoning the eating -- Saturday.

But -- the owner and handler have effectively ruled out any other time frame or location other than that that four hour period at the dogs -- Exactly but I think a little suspicious and here on to make these every dissect -- accusations and we get in the -- the of the dawn coming up arms than what it was the -- -- -- an autopsy right nit bid to have the -- -- cremated and then put into question.

Because I gotta run but if they could prove it in the and I think we all agree they really can't right now but if if they could.

Well could there be charges just.

Well absolutely you got it right it's -- it's -- particular animal -- animal cruelty so yes absolutely could be charges without a not like a human being where they can bring up a charge -- -- finding a body it's a little different but now.

But -- -- in case I hope they get some answers dad thank goodness thank thing.
