-- -- this is a huge opportunity.
And it's being squandered.
-- politics.
But by people who were more interested in a political victory than they are doing what's right for the country and it's very frustrating.
I totally believe.
At this moment infinite -- there in the office that we would not -- -- crustacean.
In their first sit down since Election Day -- and and Romney expressed their frustration of watching the dysfunction over sequester play out in Washington.
Good afternoon I'm Shane -- and this is America's News HQ live from the nation's capital.
We begin with that Fox News exclusive Mitt and -- Romney's very candid interview with Chris Wallace on FOX News Sunday.
I sent out Crist get his take on the interview.
And -- first exclusive interview with the Romney's post election you covered a lot of territory.
I want to start by playing a little bit of what Mitt Romney had to say.
And talking about viewing what's going on now in Washington.
And wishing that he was a part of it let's take a listen to that.
It kills me not to.
-- they -- not to be in the White House doing what needs to be done.
The president as the leader of the nation the president brings people together -- the deals doesn't trades knocks their heads together the president leads and and I don't see that kind of of leadership happening.
-- get the sense that he really wishes that he could be there that he would make a significant difference.
Well I -- certainly wishes that he were here and I think there's a certain point is to the interview because Washington has never looked worse regardless of whether you think the Republicans are right of the White House is right.
Washington looks completely dysfunctional.
And here is -- out on the West Coast and of course it's easier to be on the West Coast and was sitting there saying I -- -- Now that's the second part of your question could he have made the difference I don't know that the one thing I would say isn't it kind of Nixon.
Went to China way I think that he might have been able to bring.
The Republican Party further on tax reform not just -- not raising tax rates lowering tax rates.
But doing away with a lot of loopholes and deductions and using some of that money.
In a deficit deal and then he would have had to persuade that the Democrats to go along with spending cuts and and especially entitlement reform the one thing he says he -- I did this when I was governor of Massachusetts I work with the legislature 87 present Democrat.
And you don't do what the president is doing you don't go out campaigning scoring political points you gotta bring them into the room.
Closed doors no leaks no bashing.
And just do business and make the deal.
He's not there because obviously he did not win the election -- -- with him a lot about that about processing what happened what could have been done differently.
And you talked to mrs.
Romney -- she seems to me and still struggling a little bit more to processing get over at that he is maybe he's a little further along the process.
Want to play a little bit of what she had to say.
About how key was portrayed during the campaign.
Do you think the media was in the tank for Barack Obama.
I think that it's any time you're running for office you always think that you've been portrayed unfairly and you know we -- of course on our side believes that there's more biased.
In favor of the other side.
I think that's you know that's a pretty universal.
Universally felt.
Opinion.
Did you get a sense of regret from either of them -- what they've maybe would have done differently in retrospect well.
Absolutely and I would say at least.
I was -- -- both on camera but even off camera because I had dinner with them the night -- swore.
He seems in a better place than she does he seems further along -- quoted at one point in the interview on mourning process it's -- And he seems further along and that that then she does.
-- wouldn't -- -- is better.
And she's happy with our life but I think she feels more.
Gosh we should have won we -- you know what happened what you know how different things would be.
For them and especially for the country if they have one.
Ed -- they go over you know whether it's a 47% video or whether it's hurricane sanity or his position on immigration.
Or or this with the failure background and I think one of the things that really bothers him wherever Mitt Romney is all about business and systems and data.
And their -- was wrong that mean they thought that is they say going into election night that they were gonna win and I think there's a lot of frustration.
That -- -- ground game and the air ability to read the political situation was not as effective as the Obama campaign's us.
Fascinating interview on others more to come up over the coming days and something folks won't want to miss the and a FOX News Sunday today being the two newest members of the Romney -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
