This past the hour now potentially groundbreaking medical -- -- now doctors claiming they have quote cured a baby born with HIV.

Jamie Colby live here now with more -- what do we know about the -- -- Well it's exciting news sent to say the least bill but her HIV mom didn't have proper prenatal care and didn't even know she was HIV positive so in this case.

Not wanting to wait for test results the baby's doctor decided to use an aggressive course of treatment more than normal for HIV infected infants.

And two and a half years later doctors to declare the child's virus undetectable.

Which has led to the scientific conclusion she's cured.

-- her doctor was doctor Hannah gave from the University of Mississippi.

And she grew concerned when the now toddler didn't return for follow up care she -- Child Protective Services out to find the child.

And her mom had actually stopped her treatment after nineteen months so on -- the virus was essentially gotten.

Doctor -- so surprised she went back to see the results of the tests given shortly after the babies preventative treatment began.

They overall positive for HIV.

My first thought was to panic I thought oh my goodness I have been treating a child who's not actually infected.

It's not the only case though billed as one other reported cases of HIV patient learning their virus have been cured.

Was -- HIV positive San Francisco man who had leukemia.

And a bone marrow transplant while what what could this mean.

For you know the worldwide fight against pediatric aids and that.

But in the US we're seeing dramatically fewer HIV -- So scientists insist they'll do more research they need to see if what doctor -- prescribed for her patient will become the routine course of treatment.

For infants born to HIV moms who have a fifteen to 45%.
