Presidential candidate and Mitt Romney steps back into the spotlight granting his first interview since his defeat in the November election.

Governor and mrs.

Romney speaking exclusively to FOX News Sunday discussing the campaign.

And the news media.

Well I have of course I it was partly it's true but it was not just the campaign spot I believe it was the media's fault as well.

Is that he was not giving being given a fair shake -- people weren't allowed to really see him for who he was all right what about the media.

I'm happy going to the media.

What do you think the media was in the tank for Barack Obama.

I think that it's any time you're running for office you always think that you've been portrayed unfairly and you know we -- of course on our side believes that there's more biased.

In favor of the other side.

I think that you know that's a pretty universal.

Universally felt.

Opinion.

James Anderson is a contributing editor and writer for the American conservative magazine Alan Colmes is -- host to the Alan Colmes radio show.

Author of thank the liberals for saving America they are.

Jim what do you think about the points that and Ronnie -- about it.

Well she led the thinking for example of the Pew -- data from -- last little stretch of the campaign last year which found that President Obama had a plus ten pop.

Favorable rating among the reporters in terms of the coverage there does -- there.

And Romney was minus.

Sixteen.

So plus ten for Obama minus sixteen for Romney I would say that.

Mrs.

Romney had a point in her criticism yesterday and that graphic there shows how much coverage -- each candidate.

And I candidate got during the last week the campaign.

President Obama got significantly more stories written about him and and television coverage.

You know she could have well she actually did talk.

About a lot of other things Allen but the media has been focusing.

Potter comment about the -- Media the media loves talking about the media does not it's.

I -- you know she's protective of her husband and she certainly.

Exhibits that I think that's a great quality.

But to Britain to blaming the campaign was the campaign new kind of kept a lid on Mitt Romney.

Didn't let let him out but too many if any of them and they really controlled and -- very strongly.

And it would have been nice to have him speak more about his work with the church for example some of the good work seized on some of the charity he's done he didn't really talk about that very much and I think had he done that more maybe we we would have gotten to know the Mitt Romney the would have resonated.

To a stronger extent with the American public well again you know -- talked about a number of other items in that interview they talked about immigration -- talked about especially.

How the president is handling the sequestered listen.

Well no one can think if that's been a success for the president.

He didn't think that's a question what -- it is happening today what we've seen is.

The president about campaigning to the American people doing rallies around the country flying around the country.

And the -- Republicans and blaming and pointing now what does that do that -- is the Republicans sit to retrench.

And it put up a wall and to fight back.

Should the media be doing some stories about that Jim.

Well I think so I think -- they probably will -- although there is certainly the Washington Post this morning -- full of stories.

You know one headline being.

-- and Romney is wrong in case you were kind of wondering where the media were coming from on this that was in the post omnimedia is defending itself is that I could that be an enemy as -- senator preoccupied with the media but what I have to say this.

That Romney knows how this game is blatantly mr.

mr.

brown -- -- And if they if I had my first interview on -- you know since the election I think I would have.

Focus on something positive whatever was I wanted to say about my future plans -- on and not let Chris Wallace.

-- -- and it is being sure of talk with the media having -- -- -- ask the questions as as he saw them but they didn't have to answer them I would have been I would have really try to say something look I got other.

Twenty years back of like anatomy and how it is on the major with -- and here's what here's what you're gonna learn about me.

I think that would have been a better is the second act after the election.

I think judgment Jim is right you know but the idea blame in the -- it's always easy to blame the media and -- when Enron even an interesting point that which -- candidate is being stalked his talking is gonna think that that candidate didn't get.

That kind of coverage they wish they had on either side of the plate.

So I'm sure that the Obama campaign feels there are many times the media is not fair to them and doesn't his message there's always get out the way he might like it works both -- Also apparently that's what we have metrics that show where the cup but bias was in for example the Media Research Center which admittedly -- a third of the Pew Center which is probably look back on the lab they both agree that Obama got a better process around it is -- -- still free to complain about his press.

Iran has got a lot more reason to complain.

-- seven Mitt Romney can also takes a personal responsibility.

For what you know what does he think he might have done differently that could have.

Change the election I would have liked to have -- some of his.

Self reflective this -- self analysis but what he might have done.

In a different way that would have made made a difference all right we're gonna have to say good -- just worth noting that you know what she said about the media I think was done with a smile on her face and with a gentle nudge it wasn't all of that.

All that much a lamb basting and that doesn't necessarily come through.

In some of the print stories that have been written about what she had to say there all right Alan Colmes Jim Pinkerton good to have you on as always thank you thank you.
