Meantime it wasn't just bomb -- if you remember Ben Ben Carson that shocked knock the guy challenge the president.
At a player about to snow -- turns out before that practice the president's people -- -- message.
Well for even -- sounds more like a warning Ben not lost their -- back on what would they sank.
Well I don't know that I got any threats from them.
Certainly.
I got messages from the committee that.
They would prefer that -- not say anything that would be.
Construed.
Is.
You know nasty.
Or offensive to the president.
So in other words this being a prayer breakfast it was not the place to be overtly political.
And so they thought in this venue whatever.
Differences -- -- -- -- the president from your vantage point as a the top surgeon.
And the like to -- did get that was not the venue for it on put it.
And and that was that was -- filling her right -- not necessarily my failing.
You know I felt.
That there -- prayer breakfast is a perfect place to sort of diagnosed the -- spiritual condition of the country.
And to deal with some of the issues that so many people.
Are filling.
Very frightened about in fact since the prayer breakfast.
The amount.
Messages that mail that I've gotten every place that -- people come out and it's just.
So enthusiastic -- so happy about what's going on.
And feeling like maybe they have hope again and and I hope that maybe the administration here is that.
And recognizes.
That.
There's -- need to be the president of all the people.
Not just of a segment of the people we need to be doing things that that bring people together and to create harmony.
And not things just so that our side can win.
So doctor when you when they did send -- these emails or whatever however they communicated you this you know this isn't the venue doctored to raise this stuff.
And you obviously disagreed.
How did you could say that to them ahead -- the speech or did it all does come out during this.
Pretty much came during the speech.
And and I don't think that there was -- thing that was said that that should have been offensive.
You know unless you were guilty of any of the things that -- talking about that should have been offensive at all.
But if -- the president and it's under your stewardship of this debt as a broad in this health care law's taken effect and some of these liberties you talked about.
-- or or seem to be compromise.
I can well understand why wouldn't go down well -- hand.
Well I would I would hope that we would reach a level of maturity.
Where -- suggestions are offered.
Forward dealing with problems and -- logical suggestions with which a huge segment of the population increase.
That one might -- -- take time and say.
Let's consider this let's look at this let's see if we can integrate this into our policies.
Again the ideal being to lead all the people not just this -- Doctor I have you here are on it in an interview -- our Chris Wallace Mitt Romney the former Republican presidential candidate had said regarding health care.
That he didn't grasp or appreciate the dimensions to which.
Average Americans.
I think by inference he was.
Lower income Americans and minorities with war and end in the embraced it in -- endorse it and really strongly liked it and that he just didn't.
Sensed -- magnitude of that support.
So in your possession -- what do you think of what he was saying.
And what he's admitting to now that that this helped on some of this big government intrusion every one of to fight it is is liked by a whole bunch of -- more than that more than Republicans.
Seem to appreciate.
Well and I understand why they like it because either your health care is the most important thing to -- that's frightening when you think it might be threatened.
But the fact of the matter is there are ways that we can offer that health care to people at a much cheaper price.
And actually better health care better relationships between their doctors.
I think we really need to put this thing back on the table and discuss it because what we're doing now is creating a situation where employers.
Are dumping people -- cutting back their hours so that they don't have to pay.
These extreme cost this is not working out the way it was posted it would be okay that simply say you know this is not quite what we anticipated.
Can we go back to the drawing board and maybe this time let's really be transparent.
Maybe let's really get everybody involved in the discussion I think who would make a big difference.
You know I did get called by the administration.
A couple of times -- -- -- -- And the first time you know we were having -- good discussion in the -- indicated that I was independent so that was pretty much it.
And then I got a call a couple of months later I can't say reconsidered and and I was teaching a class and I couldn't talk at the time I said maybe -- -- -- -- forty minutes we can't -- appointments that I realized that.
And I told David Axelrod about those two incidents -- and he told me that.
There were probably some that's -- mature people who were involved in and certainly shouldn't -- the administration based on those Connors.
He might be right but let me ask you pollster.
His speech and and your remarks which went sort of -- -- you know and political communities left to right.
We're fire and I -- -- they were very reasoned Cogent.
Very calm you weren't they -- -- it in the slightest.
You just called into question where we -- -- -- -- what our government is doing.
This health care thing and now it's evolving.
Posts that those remarks doctor besides all these folks who want you run.
President have you ever heard from the president or any of his people -- said you know you'd be good to come back to and let's look at how we.
We implement this and and things -- we avoid any.
Now now there has has been no communication -- -- you feel about and I guess.
-- I -- that doesn't surprise me.
But -- but I'm looking for a time when we as a nation to have the ability to sit down and discuss things reasonably together.
Because if we put all of our objectives on the table and use all of our knowledge.
I'm certain that we can come to some very reasonable solutions that everybody -- grass.
And we we we don't have to have this win or lose mentality.
Lot of big won't say it's too late for.
It it seems late but I'm an eternal optimist and I think we can turn it around and and certainly.
They enthusiasm.
Of people that I encountered it's just unbelievable.
-- doctor Ben Carson Johns Hopkins the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins.
Thank you very much we'll keep track of that keep track of what's going all around the country so far so good.
