Let yourself -- out there today folks here's a live look at Minneapolis where that for the third time in three weeks.

They've got a powerful winter storm that is heading their way they must be sick and tired -- -- hear that right.

Packing heavy snow high -- affecting millions of people as it tracks east.

Mid Atlantic states -- getting ready for their cold blast that is headed our way here -- -- -- -- of America's -- glad -- with us on this Tuesday everybody and Martha -- Bill Hemmer good morning if you live in these states are probably dreaming of Florida bar somewhere south of -- it it might be the biggest storm of the year.

For some people 5060 mile an hour gusts and record snow falls and in many places the mid Atlantic states could be feeling the effects and will over the next 24 hours.

We have team fox coverage for it is our Maria Molina is tracking the storm where it's nice and dry in the fox weather center but we get started with Mike till -- who -- -- -- pretty scene actually right now in Chicago as it -- there hey Mike.

Am -- that we're just really get the front end of it we have been for the last hour here in Chicago.

Six to ten inches expected how does that affect you -- different parts of the country well so far over a thousand flights have been canceled out of Chicago's O'Hare and midway airport and with a ripple effect comes your way impact your travel plan.

Fine and I spot with a power outlet and enjoyed the snow has already dumped on parts of the midwest.

-- dress up to three feet high and parts of North Dakota.

As -- snow is coming down driving has been treacherous in Minnesota and Wisconsin as -- snow's coming down out there.

Here in Chicago it hasn't been that bad so far because we just at the front end of the storm.

They catch it's you've got a lot of people who are driving to work now.

On the return commute the snow was going to be coming down faster than the plows can keep up what -- even though they've got what 300 clouds at the -- right now.

And someone said go hawks in the background there -- So that she got a spirit is still alive and well despite the snow coming down despite a pretty treacherous return commute Martha.

Back -- as -- about to get me something about the snow I'm.

So I think they're hard to do they -- this kind of -- heart attacks now which is ascent and guess that means it's going to be have eight.

Exactly is that wet heavy snow that comes down it fills up the drive when you get a lot of people.

Particularly elderly people haven't done anything physical all -- is -- first time they get out they get physical it's a lot of work removing this wet heavy snow and frankly what doctors recommend.

Has hired a kid across the street to get asked no lock your driveway when I was a -- grown up out here I made bank on days like this.

Accidentally and we encourage kids to go out there and help -- those elderly neighbors and do just that make a little money probably at same time.

Just like my toe when you can end -- successful like are on my third minute thank you -- A young guy CFMRS purely pay fifteen dollars laughter her -- -- -- early -- that mrs.

-- pay twenty bucks and and they're so I still watching I have hit a bone thin metal as a pitch man.

I got to pay five dollars more than -- never.

-- -- -- -- Chicago bracing for at least ten inches forecasters predicting the worst storm in two years.

There has been snow in Chicago over 22 of the last 34 days.

But it is not -- ten inches since about what February 2011.

Snow total started being recorded 1886 and since then 43 winter storms have dumped ten inches or more snow.

In Chicago.

We'll all that snow may be a bust for most travelers but it's also a boon for some folks cabbies in Minnesota.

Already hit hard by the -- say that the messy commute could mean that they'll make a little bit of extra -- today.

If you need a cab to the airport you're less likely to ask the family members of the idea maybe they've missed their bus connection and maybe their car gets maybe they think -- -- -- -- Maybe they hate driving -- -- for whatever reason.

-- -- This gets very very busy -- out as much as that storm moves east -- the rain will become an issue along the coast along with heavy flooding so where is it going next.

Much -- continues this hour meteorologist Maria Molina tracking that storm what's up.

You're behind hi bill good to see you good morning good morning everyone and this storm is headed eastbound and I do quickly want to mention your.

I -- five quarter forecast because for Philadelphia and New York City it is going to be a -- tricky forecast we could see a little bit of snow accumulation.

But that rain snow line is going to be hovering right around the city so we could actually see.

More rain and then snow it's -- would -- depend on where that I'm sets up -- what how what those temperatures are but for DC we're calling for anywhere between five.

-- eight inches of snow that is big news for DC that's -- biggest snowfall we see in about two years.

Or even longer for some of those people out there across the mid Atlantic so we're keeping an eye on the storm system that right now -- -- Across portions of Iowa and also into Minnesota that snow moving on into Chicago like you -- my -- -- And we're gonna continue to see that snow coming down across this region we do have winter storm warnings and in fact.

Because the wind will be gusting up to twenty or even thirty miles per hour across this region and that's really what will produce those whiteout conditions and those flight cancellations -- -- -- And -- some of those bigger airport hubs in that area.

A couple counties just in the west in DC about two or three.

Some of these places could see up to -- but or even more of snow and that's an area shaded in pink across sections up.

Northern Virginia western sections of Maryland this -- West Virginia again you could be seen over it let us know especially EST heading to some of the higher elevations.

Right now DC and Baltimore just under a winter storm watch that could be upgraded pending on the exact forecast as that storm continues to head eastbound.

By Wednesday afternoon at noon we should already seeing that snow coming down across DC Pennsylvania.

We should be seeing some rain across Philadelphia and moving on into the New York City area the -- is going to be a huge issue here as we head into Wednesday we're talking gusts.

-- just think he or even sixty miles per hour bill across coastal areas so Atlantic City this is going to be a huge problem for you and we do have.

Coastal flood watches in effect across parts of Delaware and Jersey Long Island and into coastal areas of Connecticut -- something and keep an eye on also on the coast.

The rain and.

Also the wind -- and well pretty easy a couple of months weather here in the northeast at five Maria thank you -- man winter is not delegates -- his.
