That combination of heavy wet snow highway is is already taken down some of the power lines in the area.

And Chicago's bustling O'Hare international airport.

Has a lot of stranded folks -- they now realize that that -- get out yet they may be there for some time.

The plan up to Baltimore and I had a flight canceled RD at 6 AM when we -- -- now now trying to get out elevenths.

-- not sure it's gonna happen today I.

I think the window is closing out -- to get out.

There's a lot to do in Chicago -- -- actually disappointed and that memo to America can't -- -- team -- -- right now meteorologist Maria Molina is a fox extreme weather center -- -- -- streams live.

Falls Church, Virginia.

-- let's start with you how goes it.

Well all all right so far bill but I can say this having lived in this area for the better part of my life that there is no city -- is as dysfunctional no metropolitan area as dysfunctional as Washington DC.

In a snowstorm all it takes is about a one half inch of snow to throw this metropolitan area into absolute paralysis.

And we're gonna get a lot more than that -- -- around here today all schools are shut down in this region.

All government offices are shut down congress is in session today but really that's about it.

So fall totals are very difficult to predict around here because we always -- right on that that does rain the wintry mix snow line.

To the southeast of town.

We're probably expecting about three inches of snow.

In this city proper anywhere from nine dead six tonight -- is a -- the northwestern suburbs perhaps up to a foot of snow.

-- and further out west about an hour west of where we stand now.

India Shenandoah Valley the blue -- -- we could be looking at eighteen inches of snow.

This is all complicated the by the fact that this is a very wet heavy snow it's actually pretty warm out here about 33 degrees here.

And with the wind blowing as hard as were expecting it to but we could have a lot of power outages a lot of downed trees -- that a lot of downed limbs.

And the power companies are out here are notorious.

For their slow response time.

Keep in mind John F Kennedy's admonition about Washington that it operates with all the charm of -- northern city and all the efficiency of a southern -- we shall see -- Sounds like you're in for a great -- guys up.

Curfew and tell this stuff and probably -- -- run for your money if you go further west though there are a couple of -- in a couple states will get as shown a moment.

-- where people -- and -- bit already by this storm typically do you get early march storms like this they're done.

You know I can remember one back in that the mid ninety's it was a pretty bad storm a huge nor'easter that left to allow a lot of ice and freezing rain and and some snow in the region but it's pretty rare.

And the good news about this is that once it does fall -- as a warm up quite rapidly and they'll all be gone in a couple of days looks pretty for the moment Doug thank you would check and a bit later -- very -- Callaway in his backyard OK you're kidding.

-- church Virginia.
