It's a big concern if the US government is deciding that it can kill Americans anywhere any time.
OK so.
I think before we dismiss this as -- rant someone who really isn't very well grounded in reality and I think that's been the gist of some of the commentary.
Let's remember that no 15 years ago would have thought that we would take out Americans overseas with drones would know due process with.
-- things that Rand Paul is talking about in the US so.
You have -- somebody who.
Is not particularly keen on military intervention to begin with libertarians.
Really believe that.
The government's role should be limited even when it comes to defense and military opportunism let's say.
But also I think.
-- you know I think Rand Paul is Reid responding to the fact that we have UC's.
Procedures to kill Americans outside the United States and Eric Holder was asked very pointedly in a congressional hearing.
Whether he would ever under any circumstances.
Undertake such killing in the United States and he did not say no.
So holder is really responsible if you will for the sort of ambiguity.
That led to I think to -- Rand Paul's approach.
That's -- -- that that's that's a fair point there is some ambiguity is that there's some ambiguity but I mean.
I don't expect to to lose tonight I believe that.
A -- -- sincerely believes in what he's doing.
I do you think that holder's point.
Yesterday was that -- there would have to be some extraordinary circumstances for -- -- -- at this and I and I and I guess you just have to sort of trust that that's the case I mean this is trust is trust and just kind of let him -- -- -- -- -- -- -- government and this is not this is not 24 you know this is not television where we've -- we're -- -- war break out on our streets every day.
I can't imagine that anybody.
Reasonable rational would believe.
That you know people who gonna get missile we've been -- while they're sitting at a cafe it would have to be tremendously -- And what -- -- what everybody is worried about is not necessarily that that is a bad to happen but don't we are all this slippery slope.
Is and hopefully -- It's I think it's basically too much discretion at the hands of the commander in chief men and of course congress has really been after.
The legal justification that that they.
Memos which have circulated which had been crafted to explain.
What what is.
By the way a pretty uncertain territory to begin with which is doing this outside the United States has not quite clear that that's really vehicle so.
I think I mean I I have to say I think that our Rand Paul.
Made a name for himself I think.
Which is not to -- damaging when you're planning and home -- president.
The road what is -- -- night but but I think at ten -- point people believe and that's the people will be even someone.
Actually standing up for principle and and -- stand.
We ran into being that hey hey that's very very hall trending topic.
On Twitter yesterday I celebrated some of our viewer comments on this down over Texas just -- -- chances.
Could also senator Paula give a lot of credit and made he made a lot of great points.
And to be honest he has a great point and the administration needs to get clarity on the issues he brought up it's -- -- question of the day.
On FaceBook a lot of you responding that to the question do you approve of the use of drones to kill suspected terrorists even if they are US citizens.
Exact -- says simply know -- a game of golf says they shouldn't even be flying over American soil Tammy Leslie Weston says there are other ways to take care of terrorists especially if they're in the United States.
Barbara Morris says not on American soil -- -- Bentley noticed that.
Not if that prove it if they are asking me home -- The -- he says not if they opt.
Proven to be a terrorist of course that would require a judge and jury something the administration doesn't seem to think is necessary.
Right now a lot of people who if you look at -- holes Basel and as you also this question -- put these up.
The polls that we have seen.
I think the first when he is is -- New York Times but I'm not entirely sure of that but let's put it up should I -- -- a policy while I apologize.
Do you approve.
Using drugs to kill suspected terrorists in general seventy -- percent approved.
And even if an American 60%.
Still -- you look at that then on US soil -- -- -- did quite a bit.
And it's much more split that fifteen.
56%.
Saying yes if it's -- far enough.
On that US soil only 45% saying yes if it senate and American this clearly.
A split he -- put it in general the public seems to back.
They use of drones pretty much whatever we think there's a terrorism.
It's a new day we didn't think something like 9/11 would happen but we do we didn't thought it would happen in someplace like New York but he did I think what that -- is saying is that.
We want our leaders to go after terrorists no matter where they are no matter who they are what we we just.
A little uncomfortable about having this happen on our soil and it and I don't think it's a situation where they.
Overwhelmingly don't warrant our US forces and our president to go after terrorists even if they're American on our soil we just don't like the idea of having these battles fought.
On our soil but if it comes to that.
I what I want our leadership to be able to do would it needs to do to stop at a -- for a long to.
