North Korea took some time away from not feeding its own people and torching torturing government critics to threaten the United States -- nuclear war.

According to North Korean state media Foreign Ministry spokesman today said -- the -- -- regime will.

Quote exercise its right unquote to carry out a preemptive nuclear strike on Washington DC.

Which he called the headquarters of the enemy.

The new rhetoric came just hours before the united nations Security Council voted to hit North Korea -- -- economic punishments.

This is the Security Council's fourth round of pressure on Sean young and it's a direct response to North Korea's recent underground nuclear test.

Of course we've heard threats for years and years and decades before from the north Koreans.

And the experts say North Korea still doesn't have a device that's small enough to fit on a ballistic missile that's capable of hitting the United States.

The fox sports chief correspondent Jonathan Hunt has the news from the United Nations this afternoon how seriously are US officials taking this threat.

Well seriously chef in the sense that they do not like being threatened by anyone least of all.

And unpredictable.

Armed with nuclear weapons but at the same time US officials -- -- -- -- -- North Korea is in no position to carry out its threats -- The United States is fully capable.

He appears to be talking the talk about walking the walk but that remains to be seen and it is something US officials will be watching very closely shot.

He has visited North Korea several times and seems to have a decent idea of what's happening what's happening.

Well what is significant about these sanctions is that China and not -- signed on but my understanding is they helped draft this.

China is very upset with the last long range missile in the north Koreans and they have leverage over North Korea they provide -- with food.

So I think this is significant now what is a bit disturbing.

Is North Korea always engages in this very tough rhetoric.

But this time -- it seems a little excessive.

I'm a little concern not that -- go to.

Attacked the United States with a long range we -- we have 28000 troops there a mile problem right.

But the concern I have is -- conflagration possibly with South Korea with some of their neighbors.

It seems that the North Korean military.

Has the upper hand over the civilian side there.

That's troublesome because the Foreign Ministry this is the people we met with when I was there with Google and Eric Schmidt.

They seem the more moderate.

But it seems that the young new leader is being influenced by the hardliners perhaps his uncle by.

The military so that's a little troublesome the rhetoric is you know -- you have to take it.

Not that seriously but this time it's intensified.

And and I'm worried about some kind of -- Dennis Rodman.

But eventually you know these guys may have six nuclear weapons and we've got to have 50000 troops we've got.
