Eric Holder so -- clarification that the president does not have the authority to use drones to kill American citizens on US soil.
Came earlier today there are still several concerns when it comes to the controversy.
Namely why is there'd been nothing but silence -- the Democrats as Rand Paul was filibustering for thirteen hours.
Only one brave Democrat that being Oregon senator Ron Wyden join Ron Paul.
Rand Paul excuse me so this was happening while George Bush was in office.
Here -- ready would have been impeached by the very Democrats who sit silent now.
Here with reaction Foreman of Mexico governor former US ambassador to the UN Bill Richardson -- -- go to -- nice to see you appreciate you being here problem.
Do you remember let's go back to Barack Obama.
Member of the enhanced interrogation.
Was called torture again and again the president apologize but let's remind our viewers.
Under my administration.
In the United States does not torture my administration.
Is.
-- going to operate in a way that leaves no doubt.
That we do not torture.
-- we abide by.
The Geneva conventions.
Waterboarding is torture.
It's contrary to America's traditions.
It's contrary to our ideals that's not who we are that's not how we operate and anybody who was actually.
Read about.
And understands.
The practice of waterboarding.
Would say that that is -- And that's not something we do.
Period.
How does somebody explain this to me.
That was soul.
Against.
Enhanced interrogation I don't believe it's torture.
But somebody that calls -- torture how could they then support drone strikes.
Against people.
I think what is going to be happening in the days ahead in the months ahead is a special court that is gonna make the determination.
About selectivity of with the the use of the drones I think that's healthy I think there's been -- healthy debate about this.
But you know Russia and the reality is that the president's ultimate job is to protect the American people.
And in some of these -- -- -- drone strikes well you know it's so much -- -- Right.
If some of these people -- have we have intelligence information that they're gonna do harm to the American people to an American site.
The president has a responsibility.
To -- -- we put them with this for certain examples that Rand Paul Ted Cruz and others were trying to get clarified and the attorney -- be an ambiguous but but back to my original question.
The president called enhanced interrogation torture we water boarded three people as a matter of fact the intelligence.
That got bin Laden came from enhanced interrogation.
So the question is how do you support enhanced -- -- -- so violently against enhanced interrogation bunch of support drone strikes which by the way has also killed innocent people.
I think what is clear.
Is that in the bin Laden case I don't think there's much of a debate that this man deserved to what he got.
That he killed thousands -- -- That it was done in.
A way that elicited information from those that had that information.
And I think the president has acted consistently with a statement cities made about interrogation.
About torture.
It and -- what we have now but we're not what would you rather be tortured.
Or would you rather have enhanced interrogation or drone strike against you which would you below are those might -- -- -- options.
Outlook.
I think what it's gonna happen and -- and by the way the Rand Paul debate.
Senator Wyden I think the issue was.
I've heard a lot of people say war of the liberals well.
Mean what we want it to happen was.
Obviously.
Brandon confirmed as the CIA director Indian Ocean and every president has had his secretary of state secretary defense CIA director UN ambassador confirmed but you know for the first time we have.
President Obama he can't get as secretary defense -- for weeks.
With brand and the same meaning we need the steamroller and I'll name a John -- -- -- Hightower whatever his name John Tower got it done tower two young and I remember I remember John and -- -- end of the questions about his personal life you know -- this happens all the time -- remember kind of the name Robert -- that should have been put on the court.
That's another example Reagan wanted him.
You know you you do you do raise a point things are very hot and then very political do you -- G hide.
Is a legitimate.
-- -- of Islam.
You know I I'm not religious expert.
But I won't do -- and does Gionta means holy war.
You know Jihad among radical islamists means holy war against Israel and the west to advance a worldwide -- -- which is that everybody becomes muscle.
Right well.
I do think that this is a threat to the national security the United States sold in that legitimate question and and and we need to -- You know not just act in practice but act.
In policy and substantively now let me ask you do you think the president.
I will concede he is a good campaigner I will concede he loves crowds he loves the applause he loves the attention he's never ending campaign.
Are you disappointed.
That he he went through this whole sequestration debate.
That planes wouldn't arrive on time long waits at the TSA.
Custodians will be fired teachers or be fired the White House has to be closed down school kids can't go there.
Who -- morally cutting 44 billion.
Of a three point eight trillion dollar budget and we're borrowing 46 cents of every dollar and robbing future generations blind.
In -- on the president said to.
Republicans he said to the congress meet me halfway they just close some tax loopholes.
Let's have some -- spending cuts we just racetrack -- also -- also deal with entitlements.
Reforming Medicare Medicaid.
The growth in a responsible way.
And and basically the other side said when I senators -- produced a budget in four years the president himself.
He got -- tax increases when we get the cuts that he says the balance of when we get the other side of the mountain as the problem China's continuing resolutions and become the staple of congressional action and that's wrong -- look.
I think we need a constitutional amendment to balance a budget I said this in my campaign in Iowa I didn't do too well.
The shuttle isn't it well -- -- all right well good to see it coming thank you appreciate it up by as always.
