I'm telecoms want to welcome former senator Scott Brown Garcia one of us now because you're in the media your -- clock here.
If this test you see things differently now here.
Media guy actually you know it's and saying it being one of the most bipartisan senators -- in the United States senate I always had treated the media I understand they have a job to do I try to.
Be approachable and accessible and given the information is I recognize that they are just trying to do their job so -- sometimes getting some Republicans on Colonia and other -- so we'll go along with certain conservative -- and I think it's a -- this is good to have the dialogue that's written that you need to have that free and and fair and open dialogue that's what makes our country great.
And there's a guy -- com and -- very admirable but we have some great indoors and there's a liberal host real -- and a shot -- he has some great discourse and I really fight and invigorate that bush is really nice to live their buses and a little south they certainly isn't that -- -- Cambridge's -- but the -- itself.
Is really at the history easily more conservative Democrat than any idea -- the -- gaga Reagan Democrat.
And there's a lot of pockets where you find that.
This idea that it sold Ted Kennedy land.
Not true match -- and honored though in a way to take his seat never to win this on the people's seat you're saying right well people say well that he had been elected to him listen.
Aside from my marriage to my wife get on the birth to my kids.
It's been the greatest honor in my life and I'm an -- just saying that it to truly think that someone like me -- -- and the people of Massachusetts and do the very best job I could do it was an honor.
When you see what's happening now in terms of sequester.
What is your position and you think Rand -- to the right thing by getting up -- doing that filibuster I think you need to understand why he did that -- this is the problem with both sides -- administration the Democrats and the Republicans.
The administration has never in the three years I have been there.
And then forthcoming with the information I know I had a fishing hearing in Noah.
When I left they still only -- about 65% of the documents we requested.
So one of the reasons -- out there and -- used at a mechanism that allowed him to have that debate because he was asking for questions and information he wasn't -- I support money unless you have people like John McCain and Lindsey Graham went after him while they were -- that I think they listen that's the way -- -- you know we we know that the you know Democrats look to -- -- Republican -- I don't know that's divided -- -- -- -- -- us.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Was appropriate because he wasn't getting the answers he actually accomplished something because then the Brendan correct you know the attorney general did come -- they know we would never use -- -- -- -- and indeed Brennan was and confirmed.
Well had he -- that in the beginning and just answer the question that's always been a prominent minister Lindsey Graham said that he was gonna vote no on -- -- but then -- and just.
Because of what's called and he didn't like either vote yes -- -- guy.
How the party had any did you -- had everybody get along though.
In the cloakroom.
Well and the government's climate has a problem with our party.
We have the Tea Party the fiscal conservatives the social conservatives the and the moderates the liberals and if -- ideologically pure like I was not in others so looking Governor Christie CX nine inviting -- the most popular applause and as a popular conservative governor that I know via in New England will get in them in the Blue States certainly.
And he's not only -- and teachers unions but pension reform lower taxes his Spencer just -- -- -- there's a budget -- as two -- eight levels so -- -- -- from accepting Obama's health and maybe hugging him well leaving the meeting Bruce Springsteen -- after her original -- gotta do -- curious citizens and I don't think anybody that I know well who knows -- is affected by what happened was -- Andy is gonna.
Hold that against him but if we're not -- ideologically pure and we tend to eat our young.
Peter King who I'm that you know ideologically very different from -- of the congressman in Long Island.
Also been very adamant about these people on some some -- your party who have just one is saying no.
To you know -- like Eric Cantor just -- to say -- to helping New York.
And the East Coast when there was a problem after her listen I voted for I think when -- trying to hold up disaster relief for people whose lives are dramatically affected by a natural disaster.
To hold that up for political or personal reasons is wrong.
What are we do you know about solving the economic crisis it's going unaware what would you be doing as a senator right now well I.
I certainly would be doing when it did before which is reading the bills understanding and see how they affect my state or country or debt not deficit in voting number one.
I would look for mechanisms and ways to work across the aisle because we're Americans first.
And we need to work together we're in deep trouble while the market's going crazy everywhere instead this is great to judge -- number -- today that's -- one month as a good start and I commend the president more or however it's working.
Happy to say that.
But I also know that there are still 22 point six million Americans either unemployed or underemployed.
The real unemployment rates above 14% we need to do -- better and we can't if you get some regulatory attack certainly nice and -- board of an international company right now.
And we were discussing our board meeting yesterday the fact that they can't really afford to buy.
Companies in the United States because of the tax policy they can't bring that money back can you imagine if we lower corporate tax -- -- -- Rates and repatriated a lot of them -- separates about two trillion dollar non governmental stimulus we need to find a way.
To chip away and agree and work on the things we agree on.
And to forget about the things we don't agreements work on the things we agree and right now why -- Republican.
-- you know it's funny if you read my book against all odds you'll know that but my mom and -- married and divorced four times each.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- On research that the Republican Party was.
Have better Steward of people's money I think that's really even on the Bill Clinton we had a surplus to listen I I I I think of Bill Clinton did was -- was great and I commend him for it and we need to find ways to do that again and find a way to watch our pocketbooks and -- you go to someone who -- rather bipartisan and does -- always say the party -- -- that a -- lined -- to -- there don't you and you -- -- both sides.
-- -- up all over and that's that would lead to the -- And I think it was more of a national issue that we had the presidential coattails.
You can -- -- by 23 osprey seven and a half.
We still -- one point 45 million votes which is about 300000 more.
Than last time when almost 65%.
Of the state it was really the large cities who we didn't have the forces to battle around 2 o'clock when it was very very very close did you see they were on the interview went and that I decide as a partisan but I thought he didn't -- -- personal responsibility -- -- -- -- time I was on Chris Wallace as part of the panel after critiquing aside Noam met and I know his wife that they're good hard working.
Honest people -- a question when it comes to the economic issues I think we would be in better shape quite honestly.
When it comes to analyzing a loss as I have done aside I am very frank I'll tell you exactly what I think went wrong.
But the -- in the united that's the way it is.
So it's hard to say I don't know I blame the media he blamed you know -- care to many blacks and Hispanics liked it -- -- you know.
It's hard to lose I can only imagine the heartbreak of losing entire senate -- -- -- the Monday morning quarterbacks things what what I have done and all I can only speak my Summers I.
Analyzer for a couple of days -- get together their teams have what we did right what we did -- we find out you know it's not a heck of we could have done differently.
Then you don't think there's anything they've -- and not my guys you've been position different I'm -- I'm not limited Florida was just became Iraq's just had a little less than I -- 11% and Roman that a Republican and and I can't tell you how many times I would say.
What can down the street and people actually known of known for twenty years -- -- have you.
We love you we need to send you back there if you run again we're gonna vote for you we need good Republicans -- done that a battle against the left and the right get that -- So that's great thank you did you -- -- -- know I can say we didn't want the Republicans to be in charge and take away our rights and they felt -- line of crap this predator tough you know -- -- really so far from reality so hey life goes on I'm honored to be here money to be and you show and well aware and have you but I also.
A lot of people thought -- You might have been issue and had you decided to run again is up twenty anyway going to actually or surprising didn't make that choice you have to do what's right I think for not only yourself the fact that I would have -- to run five races raise another.
And six years raise another thirty to seventy million dollars.
And they forget that I was a state -- and state senator so that's every two years so eleven -- -- basically sixteen years only to hand out to the same people and -- it's tiring and I don't want a big people for money and I felt that listen if people want -- serve in the future you know they'll let me know now why we should have public financing of election I voted for clean elections in Massachusetts -- I was a supporter of it and and that but the problem was when they started selling state property.
To find candidates elections where those candidates only because they met certain threshold was selling.
State property to pay for elections and I didn't think that was right there's got to be a different way to do it are you looking at running for governor.
I am -- right now I'm very focused on and obviously doing this job well I'm looking to take some time off I'm keeping all my options open is that something -- in your mind as a possible never really thought about it till my election night -- I think I was hoping I would get reelected when I didn't it was a good time to reflect and do my National Guard duty in work and work for the Pentagon and serving as a colonel.
And you know spend a little time regrouping but you'd like to be in public life again I think -- public life right now and you know elected office again we'll say.
Very very noncommittal there.
-- if you've been there if anyone who's listening who's ever you -- criticize or praise some views in public office.
You have to understand that when some people say you know I just don't know.
Think just don't know because I had been there I worked for three long years and had -- -- run I would but I believe it would had a good chance to win.
The next day I would've had to run again so five races in six years and I just needed to recharge the -- and still do.
Senator thanks it was great to meet in person Andre easier to finish -- -- -- actually back.
