-- guest speaker kicked off a high school campus the school says the club didn't get proper permission for the event but there's a whole lot more to this story.
Then -- -- -- and Leslie Marshall join us now operate Fehr and balanced they want developed.
Morning good morning -- and a school says this sad speaker was not properly vetted and they have a right to censor what their kids on campus are hearing why not.
-- -- -- -- Yeah I love have its principal says well they didn't fill out the proper paperwork so that's the real reason why we canceled.
However I'm not sure I -- -- a guy come that I didn't know who he was.
If he is going to say things it may be offensive towards some of those are students well what about any other speaker I mean.
-- almost every speaker that you can get is gonna offend somebody in your school some part of your student body.
And so I find it suspicious -- saying -- I didn't even know who this guy was however what he believes that I'm not sure -- allowed anyway which to me is.
If I would have stayed in there will be going to whoa whoa whoa time out a second we brought in as speaker he's been all over the country.
You don't believe -- what he believes in obviously and now you're just gonna try to censor him and not allow our -- to take forward and you know what sometimes kids forget about all the paperwork.
It doesn't mean that their whole event should be canceled.
-- -- -- ask you about this because at the apparently -- that was already under -- from the telling of the story that I've seen in the in the legal filing here a legal letter from one of the attorneys that's now involved saying.
They then Harry started it was halfway through that the school officials showed up and said.
He's got to -- he's got to get off campus right now they also would -- though that the previous speakers at a coming from this club had not been that it.
So does it rain treaty when they say -- we're -- this -- out because he wasn't that it.
Well actually I think they were concerned because perhaps they got caught when not following school district policy.
This is not just the policy this one school.
And we have to remember also what type of the school is this isn't a high school.
-- a -- we're talking about thirteen 14151617.
I mean -- bad anybody can -- speech we have man -- boy organizations or the kkk are anti some medical organizations.
I think that.
Part of what our tax dollars while you're waiting -- I did -- -- then pat -- Get a bit bad what I'm saying is -- as you said it.
Any group can be offensive.
But there are policies in place in our school districts that have to be followed and you know what and I don't think that you be singing the same song have a spent eight.
Pro gay message and these people had to get -- and they are unhappy Eric I didn't their prior.
That's great job.
-- -- of the -- messages not pro game that's his make it all the time I don't wanna censor free speech.
But it's obvious that this was more than just censoring free speech this is -- a deliberate attack.
By the people at this school to come in the middle of a organized.
And a very cents a poll.
Conversation they were having on campus it was not mandatory for anyone to attend as well.
It wasn't the kkk rally either for them to come in the middle and end flexed their muscles and shut it down.
And it I would say that's in a public school if you have these venues and you have students that have.
These organizations you don't go in the middle and shut them down just because as a principle you don't like the message that possibly the speaker could be having.
That is that's not like having to learn about his diversity -- you know our diversity and -- there's opposite viewpoints out there -- like -- viewpoint is that principal of the school.
Then you would I love you and I know that you're speaking as somebody who thinks they're great -- parenting but you don't have a kid yet so when you -- we'll -- And I have to tell you have a what -- the hair that we as part of this -- -- -- bet Ben Ben many of us feel myself included that that diversity is really warm my responsibility.
Then an educators and quite frankly when you have a school district that has rules regulations and guidelines.
Every group regardless of their message needs to be did you follow the rules -- NB.
Parents need to -- the opportunity -- in this case in the high school in the past where parents are sent letters where they can accept or decline that speaker perhaps their child wade -- from being a part of that lecture then and less than we got to leave it there and just to make a note the school -- announces several times in advance after the -- person got kicked out.
There was a letter that went back to the school demanding -- they be allowed back did.
He was allowed to eventually speak so hopefully.
Everybody's happy including you two things -- -- us.
I -- about the -- of the I.
