I -- on the budget battle hi everybody glad you're with that today I'm generally cannot -- -- -- Jon Scott congressman Paul Ryan and house Republicans just releasing their blueprint to balance the budget.

Within ten years and they say they plan to do it by repealing obamacare.

Cutting domestic programs like Medicaid and avoiding additional tax hikes.

And now we're awaiting the Democrats counter proposal.

This as our national debt continues to skyrocket way past sixteen and a half trillion dollars.

And now new questions about how serious the president really is about reducing the deficit.

Which seems to be shaping up as a battle over revenue vs cuts Karl Rove is the former senior advisor.

To former president George W.

Bush and Fox News contributor good to see -- Carl thanks for being here.

And we said on a day when the president heads to Capitol Hill to talk with Republicans and before talking this about sort of schmooze fest but I want to ask you about a minute just posted on the national journal's web -- run forty or writing.

And quoting an unnamed senior White House official.

Saying that this is a joke the meeting between the president and Republicans were wasting the president's time and hours.

I hope that all of you in the media are happy because we're doing this for you -- Well if if this is represented the white has said this is a mistake for the -- How insincere the president is in this -- look for the last four years the president has treated his.

Opposition political opposition with contempt and he's treated his political supporters -- little better.

And so this outreach by the president -- sincere and sustained.

Might actually do some good in establishing a condition of some trust abortion and get things done but if this is the White House attitude if they're going through the motions because they think the press.

Want him to go through the motions.

It's not gonna have an impact cut -- from the Republican standpoint how willing should they be.

To compromise with this president do you think -- they should be open minded if he's sincere I've talked to a couple people a couple of the members who went to dinner last week and while not revealing.

The dvd in the tone of what happened -- the specifics of what happened there.

They did think the tone was you know -- and potentially.

Favorable that is to say the opening of a process but look the president can't have one dinner.

And hope to wash away all the damage that his policies have done over the last four years remember this is a man.

Who questioned not simply the policies of his opposition but their motivation.

And the same time that he's having dinner.

With of a group for Republican senators.

His political arm organizing for action is sending out.

Because they wanna take.

Close down you know airport -- air traffic control and they wanted under undermine meat inspection programs is not a good way to go about trying to say let's find a way to work together.

I wanna get your take on the current state of things in the Republican Party though is you talk to your colleagues.

In DC has the party begun to position itself better.

To pick up some seats in the mid terms and to position itself.

For a possible winner of the White House and 26 well people are talking about a -- that kind of stuff take some time I do think the Republicans did a Smart thing on the sequestered by.

Be strong stayed -- stayed focused on it and then immediately passing a continuing resolution to fund the government at the current level give flexibility in the Defense Department.

And outlook for you know -- wait until the last moment and as a result we.

-- understand there's now -- senate bargain so we're likely this week.

Maybe next to fund the government through the rest of the fiscal year I think the Republicans without a big huge controversy.

-- Republicans also the Smart thing by using their leverage to force the senate to finally pass a budget resolution we're running our government.

Not by a budget passed and regular order.

But by a series of continuing resolutions.

The president for example has not met his statutory responsibility -- the 1974 budget control act to present a budget was supposed to do -- February 4 we're now.

In March he has yet to present a budget and the White House is sort of pointing towards April as the moment that they might lay out general budget proposal.

That's in violation of the law and it doesn't help the regular process of getting the government run in a thoughtful fashion.

I was gonna ask if you brought your white board today.

We look at the papal conclave they need to get to 77 votes.

In order to get to the next -- at any any handicapping their Carl thank god we don't have exit polls or or -- -- -- -- at what they -- at the right way -- they get to the final -- in the decision -- -- -- -- a small -- -- maybe there's a message -- for American medium -- maybe we -- -- and so they're trying to call and let the election go to his final conclusion let's results speak for themselves thanks Karl Karl Rove thanks -- -- --
