Welcome back to on the -- I'm Jonathan on top of the daily by especially -- just didn't duck on the told radio news service.
Joining us from his usual budget Washington DC -- seed -- Hey great to be here and I just just I guess you've you've got some thoughts today on whether President Obama me.
Become more of a burden for Democrats in the mid term elections when he fourteen.
Interest and right now we -- seeing the media quite simply painting two -- the other picture of Obama's second term we know that.
There are new numbers from -- showing -- his popularity is slipping we know and liberal enclaves like New York he has dropped by about ten points in terms of popularity.
And quite frankly if he's going to attach himself.
To be twice fourteen movement for Democrats it's going to be very difficult and -- just you know to put us in some historical modern context.
We know that in 2004 the media loved the notion of bush being a lame duck president it started talking about it.
Approximately one week after his inauguration if you look at some of the press reports from that point in time.
And we don't really see the same discussion surrounding Obama even though he's facing arguably even greater challenges and bush at least bush when he.
Won the election in 2004 had a house and senate that we're firmly behind his party.
And out with Obama we see something more divided and -- -- lessen the chance of a lot of his second term prospects -- coming to fruition.
You think if the polls continue.
To -- For President Obama then the media will follow that more in general are they going to try to lift the polls on his -- off.
I'm not sure if they're going to try to lift the polls -- there will be that overt about it.
-- but I think you know it would be sort of within there.
History of ignoring any -- numbers on his part.
I think at some point if he's -- one of the major things that he's pursuing blow up we may see more realistic take on a second term.
But until that happens.
You know I doubt we're gonna see anything.
Less than rosy -- or anything more realistic than what we're seeing right now.
So is gonna take -- gun control or immigration reform to be derailed in order to see some kind of I guess honest coverage of the president's second term.
And it's it's all going to be long -- before we get into the the real campaigning in terms of the the mid terms.
Didn't did you is your sense right now that Democrats who are involved in -- elections.
Would want the president alongside them all would want to keep some distance between them and him.
Right now looks like there's certainly some desire for distance we know that the president is going on.
-- -- more left wing attracting a lot of members are comfortable with and we know that 2006 when the Democrats rolled back in.
They really won that by taking a more centrist position and really appealing to.
You know more -- elements and I don't think that you know by pursuing gun control or by going for a more.
You know -- -- environmental policy we're necessarily going to see Democrats.
-- lockstep behind that and ordered to you know when their districts this is.
-- it's a very ambitious agenda.
And it's very controversial at the end of the day so I would not be surprised if you see some Democrats trying to show some daylight between their stances and the White House's.
All right Justin got -- -- rated news service good to see is always so thank you very much a great day like let's.
