There's been a lot of told the last few days -- of the American influence -- that the chances of an American Pope added to the American influence within the conclave.
What is the sense there of of of how influential Americans -- and secondly the chances of an actual American -- -- you know.
-- Dolan of New York is on the list.
That the process that you really have as you know Jonathan two sides the reformers and and the curious the Romans.
One side says let's speed up this transition let's dive into that.
On and on and on and let's quickly try to fix this now and show with some degree of transparency.
That we -- we're now going to tackle this enormous problem that is the elephant in the room and the other side says let's keep this -- Let's state of course and try to fix our problems more subtly with less transparency.
And that seems to be that the two sides and there are candidates on each side and the first I suppose would be.
Well they would go through the first believe that he may have forty votes or so that the Brazilian and then.
The next would be voted on and then there would be jockeying for those votes and then the next and it's it's dissimilar to a primary process but not entirely.
Politically speaking and eventually you get someone who has 77 votes.
And at that point it's the belief that we'll have either someone who has a reformer or someone who is of the curia.
And the church will take on a direction based on who that Pope is it beats no question that that the Pope emeritus now.
Wanted to tackle some things in ways that curious did not want to tackle and suggest that he just resigned in a vacuum I think would be somewhat disingenuous.
-- there were things that he wanted to get done that he couldn't get done and and he he left and and now it's left to go over the next Pope is to figure out what the direction of the church is -- -- be their their tasks are numerous and large.
And their overriding concern is to spread the gospel of the lord and and try to bring more people into the fold because that's how the process works.
It's easy to talk about difficult to do -- -- and that the feeling generation just quit.
-- is that you will be in -- For a couple more days that that the general feeling being that this might be a longer rather than short a -- Well it from what -- hearing today from those who -- very well plugged in the Vatican behind me.
It may take a few votes.
You know they're 2 votes in the morning took was one vote this afternoon if they decide to take it they don't have to.
Been there are 2 votes in the morning and two votes tomorrow afternoon.
Those would not necessarily -- -- similar the 2 in the morning into the afternoon so could it take until Thursday or Friday it could.
Of course it could take a lot longer we don't know exactly how the conversations are gonna happen with -- within the building so.
It could be a couple of days it could be longer to suggest that it might go to next week I think that would surprise a lot of people but you never -- All right Chad -- of -- will not be allowed to leave his -- as long as the cardinals are inside the Sistine Chapel.
A great to see a senator Jeff will be live obviously win hosting studio B and the folks -- -- and any other breaking news.
From the conclave throughout -- -- shipments -- it's great to see thank you very much.
