And well now 2013.
In this event that's happening right now.
Top Republican leaders center stage now the Conservative Political Action Conference known as C -- Talking about their vision for America and their vision of the party.
Chief political correspondent Carl Cameron is -- live oxen hill Maryland.
Things were rockets about twenty minutes ago -- good morning.
Hi good morning bill Paul Ryan -- -- 2012 Republican vice presidential nominee and the chairman of the House Budget Committee from Janesville Wisconsin.
Took the stage in the place pretty much -- -- he talked a lot about the budget criticized Democrats for not having a balanced budget touted his own.
He also said interestingly -- Republicans need to lead and they need to talk to communities particularly minority.
And low income communities and get out and actually talk to people talk to them and engaged.
Rather than talking to themselves about talking to those communities.
The chairman of the Budget Committee is eyeing a presidential run himself -- -- sixteen and he does so as he's just released his new budget.
There's little sample in this -- rhetoric.
We have a plan to pay off our net and in fact.
We balanced the budget in ten years -- -- raising taxes.
How do we do this you know it's really pretty simple.
We stop spending money we don't pan out.
Shocker the shocker the gridlock in Washington has definitely seeped across the Potomac to the convention here -- -- in Maryland.
They are very much aware of what's going on there is a tremendous amount of frustration with the ongoing attempt by Democrats and not balance the budget they say they're going to reduce the overall deficit over the course of the next decade.
Paul Ryan and others here -- -- that's totally unacceptable.
For Ryan running for president when he sixteen himself having been the vice presidential nominee that's obviously raised his profile and gotten a tremendous lot of national attention.
But house members -- a hard time running for president when you are responsible for the Republican budget as he is.
That can be a tremendous opportunity to advance your message.
It also puts a big target on your back -- Paul Ryan's gonna deal that the next three and a half years there there's a parlor game that will be played out through this convention it's it's a C -- straw poll the significance of it to explain that and who you hear from Moscow.
Still today now.
Well vote that it.
Straw poll straw polls are not worth very much no matter when they take place this would hit three and a half years early is probably worth even less than normal.
But the crowd this time around -- reload the presidential year talk to an awful lot of the Stupak activist let's say the reason they're here is because they're looking.
At what direction the party is going to go -- wanna fight for their conservative principles.
-- make sure as Republicans are talking about retooling and reforming we'll hear from the RNC this coming Monday on its plans.
The conservative principles don't get subordinated and some sort of an over reaction -- The straw poll will tell some people who they like Rand Paul the big one we're gonna hear from Mitt Romney today.
Bobby Jindal and later this evening the big headliner Jeb Bush will be speaking Rick Santorum also read it when -- twelve and his thinking about -- sixteenth.
As part of the crowd will be talking today about.
Thank you Carl will be watching from here to Carl Cameron -- primarily affects our.
