KT McFarland currently a Fox News national security analysts Katie good to see if we do no -- That Pyongyang is trying to miniaturized.
Their nuclear weapons and they're trying to place them atop.
Warheads on missiles.
And they're trying to get a long range missile that could reach the United States or at least Hawaii so how serious is this threat.
Yeah where you have to look not just at the rhetoric.
But what are the capabilities unique -- things Greg friends and nuclear weapon could reach the United States won enriched uranium or plutonium we know they've done that they've tested that.
You need to have a missile capable of delivering and getting all the take unanimous on getting all the way the United States.
We know that they've tested that we another night yet bear.
But we know that they are working on that capability and then the third thing they need is to urge you just pointed out make it's that -- small enough.
That it could fit on the top of a war -- and then to be delivered to the United States we know they're working on all three of those things that we know that they are.
Really getting close now I think the US most Americans do you realize that if North Korea or Russia or China launched a nuclear attack against the United States.
We be able to take out one or two or three or five of those weapons.
But we couldn't protect.
Now we have a -- -- -- have interceptors.
How good is art technology to knock down incoming missiles.
Well it's it's very good but it's not but it could be overwhelmed in other words it could be very good to knock out one or two or ten.
It's not very good the Mac out a hundred.
Now North -- not there yet but North Korea is going -- in that direction that's why it's so important.
That the administration has gone back and and decided to build this missile shield but just on the West Coast I would encourage them to do that Europe.
Greg I was part of president Reagan's team I drafted the Star Wars speech the President Reagan gave thirty years -- -- -- the part nobody remembers by the way.
Reagan wrote the part where he challenged the scientific community come up.
With the defense against nuclear weapons and that frankly is what.
Health and the Cold War but.
I think it's -- and -- and in -- President Obama cancel large portions of our missile defense shield program.
Including that which is in Alaska and the West Coast.
We can now in retrospect given the threat and was -- and they're scrambling to put the interceptors in those very locations.
Was -- a big mistake by President Obama.
Yeah I you know -- -- thirty years ago said we need a missile defense issue up in Soviet Union and China about threatening United States with nuclear weapons and that was really yet.
But fan over the last thirty years those threats -- to have diminished the Soviet Union collapsed China turned itself to economic development.
But what we never saw coming was the fact that North Korea Iran there would be other countries that would try to build up this nuclear weapons capability.
And missile capability to reach the United States now it's really important to have that missile defense system against North Korea and potentially against Iran which is.
-- lock step away from nuclear weapons is going in the same direction our careers.
-- KT McFarland always good to see you thanks for him.
Thanks very.
