We'll major new effort by the Republican Party to overhaul the GOP an -- comes on the heels of November's election -- The RNC admitting in a new report that they're saying that the party is out of touch.

Would voters nationwide they believe here's a quote from that report.

It's time for Republicans on the federal level to learn from successful Republicans on the state level.

It is time to smartly change -- modernize the party and learn once again how to appeal to more people including those who shares some.

But not all.

-- -- conservative principles.

After thirty states currently have about Republican governors Virginia governor Bob McDonald's won -- -- -- -- -- -- morning good to have you with us today.

But thanks Martha what do you think when you hear that term to to modernize the party.

Well I think it means we need a star winning -- the fact that we vote lost a couple of can two consecutive presidential races -- We got to figure out why -- what we're missing and who were missing and I think the message to young voters new voters.

Ethnic voters the casual water only comes out every four years -- -- the presidential race.

-- the ones are missing as you pointed out 60% of America's got Republican governor's -- thirty.

Thirty states and they're doing well and their wedding and most of them are popular and so.

I do think that other things that are happening in the states is the laboratories of democracy good instruction for Washington.

You know I play a little bit governor Mitt Romney from from -- -- because he he pointed out -- exactly that well look let's listen.

I would urge us all to learn lessons that come from some of our greatest success stories.

And that's thirty Republican governors across the country.

People like.

Bob McDonald Scott Walker John -- Susanna Martinez.

-- Chris Christie.

Across the country and.

Police say these are the people Ellison do unfortunately.

EU were not invited to back conference governor.

What do you think about that.

Well it's behind.

You know I've spoken in the past a couple of years -- -- Spokane Washington and in Chicago it's a packed.

And all Al -- it's a good friend I saw about there I spoke at a prayer breakfast -- he tackled Friday.

And our candidate for governor can kitchen I was a late speaker and like one governor -- rally enough so.

-- look it's fine I think the bigger point is that what we need to find a way to do is take -- good solid conservative message fiscal and conservative.

Demonstrate to people why it works show that governors using those principles are actually getting result I call -- results order to conservatism.

That's what we do balanced budgets low taxes limited regulation -- job operation.

Pension reform education reform.

This is -- -- -- and it's getting results for people and that's the that's what people that want government to work well and stay out of -- way.

And spend their money wisely and that's what governors that.

But you know that that's one of the big questions and and -- Davis talked about reaching out you know two groups like the NAACP.

-- Barraza.

And nurses and editorialists morning the national review which was disagrees with that notion.

It says no you know actually look conservatives need to do is to prove to Hispanics why.

They have a better way of of helping people of helping the middle class what do you think.

I don't think those are inconsistent I think we need to stick to our principles that we become more like the Democratic Party they don't need -- -- we have.

The bright colors that Reagan talked about which is what we stand -- -- taxes regulations spending life family.

Marriage other things like that that are -- pillars of the Republican Party but but then I think -- right show people of all.

Ethnicity is of income strata show them why these principles are the best for America why they work.

And again the governors that laboratories of democracy the best place to do that -- I'm glad -- -- that data to a lot of guts I was on that initial.

Committee back in November December it it looked at this we wedding at the state levels but we've been losing at the presidential level and sell this stuff autopsy as he called it.

I think it's -- Smart let's be honest people want to know.

How much we care before they care how much we know and we've got to be the party that appeals to people's head I -- hard.

It not just her head with facts and figures on the budget we've got to let people know we cared deeply about them in the future of American and they're gonna start listening to -- a little bit more.

And I think we do about stick to your principles but reach out and engage new groups would have to do -- -- we let us.

Nearly -- to watch and got to work cut out for -- according to that report governor McDonnell always good to have you with us thanks very much of a pet thanks.
