And the university had committed about 111000 dollars in taxpayer funds to that exposition.
Some lawmakers in Nashville heard about that they threatened to cut off all funding for the university of -- Knoxville.
So the university backed down saying it will now spend only 6700 dollars a student funds for sex week.
Joining us from Knoxville to co chairs of sex week.
Jacob Clark a junior and Rihanna rader also a junior at the university so illustrated you understand -- some tennesseans.
So what their tax money going through this kind of thing.
I can understand that however we remain.
Have a firm stance this is an important educational event.
But the decision has been made it's out of our hands now we afternoon forward all right so you are your posture then on this mr.
Clark is that.
The educational aspect of sex weekend there are to be fair some some.
Seminars are discussions what if you want.
That our educational.
They're not all crazy loony stuff.
Overrides.
The bondage soften the how to stuff does that.
Your posture mr.
Clark.
Oh well first I must clarify.
We've had a lot of things it -- a lot of people talk about the bondage stuff.
And we're frustrated because that's not actually in the week.
And now we do have certainly have programs that are not and lecturer of classroom style events there will be a little bit.
-- creative in the way we.
Foster discussion so I am I would agree that and dedication armament.
Of of our event.
Is the heaviest and.
He -- this is what I was done OK just to be clear.
-- you do have how to stuff going on which is really what was teeing off the some conservatives but I would've done it this way in the straighter and an event.
Your educational -- -- stuff about how to protect yourself about responsibility.
About you know may be.
What the right and wrong of it is as far as.
-- were Americans and this is how we should treat each other.
I think that's fine.
But it might -- how to stuff.
I think I would charge admission for that a couple of blocks.
-- not had any any private money going to that -- public money going to that just do that privately on the side.
So people wanna see that kind of stuff they -- pay for the data been unreasonable.
ES that would have been unreasonable I disagree -- we submitted a survey.
That many over five under our students filled out yeah and we provided per -- based on their survey.
And when we're and I Lebanese army base is -- -- -- telling me -- taxpayers of America should be beholden to college kids.
To pay for what they want -- that -- -- case at Marist College you guys that taxpayers and will -- would have been buying -- all day long.
Khamese you know kids can't do that how this aren't we don't have to pay -- -- -- wanna stay on that -- Dubai.
The -- to and section that we're doing is being paid by student programming fees but -- -- doesn't that's a voluntary that's obvious that there's some students don't want their money gone for that.
They'd rather have the money going for something else.
What you should have done was -- charged these college students if they wanna do this kind of -- thing.
They pay for it on -- under -- then you would never any controversy there at all.
Well we have a lot of events that and -- to -- don't wanna go to back every week.
That don't -- never charge admission.
And every student group who follows seizure of the university has the same chance to get -- -- fees paid for certain events is every other.
And leave and it didn't it didn't follow precedent and didn't follow.
Them any sort of traditional way of opening comments of this type on and -- charge admission.
I think you guys should -- -- idea what you're doing now because you got cut back -- raising private money for this thing right that's what you're doing now.
People just giving you donations -- all that.
I ended I should and I think -- ball thing take it out of the public arena all right you wanna be little sex week deal on the -- gonna give -- some.
Place to do it OK raise it privately.
That that was that seems to be a fair way to -- it is -- 500 -- kids wanna -- -- a lot of credit for.
That out as life anyway we appreciate you guys coming on and debated you know many of many of you wouldn't -- we appreciate it sells thank you very much -- bad --
