Somebody CBS was old enough to have been around -- the Vietnam War the idea that they would put -- -- my data out.
And -- go to a memorial where American's -- what -- nice -- with the Hanoi Hilton where they put everybody in prison and I mean somebody over there -- 800000 plus American that is an apology and they -- to get on the air and they -- -- say it.
In time time and they ought to apologize forward or they -- to get out of the business.
Well that was the fox co host Bob Beckel on yesterday's show.
He was fired up over recent scene in the CBS reality TV show called the Amazing Race we first told you about this controversy yesterday.
-- -- for not only treated to Communist propaganda songs in Vietnam.
But they actually raced to what V show called a B 52 memorial.
To get their next clue that so called memorial is actually the wreckage of an American B 52 bomber.
It was shot down over Hanoi in December of 1972.
Of the six crew members aboard that plane for bailed out and became POWs.
And the other two are listed as MIA and presumed killed.
A plaque there celebrates the American empire being destroyed and quote.
Now watch how it all played out on the -- Dean's -- now thank you Lehtinen -- 52 memorial.
Cited the -- -- -- B 52 bomber shot down during the Vietnam War and win over the line here next month.
-- there's usually one.
-- at W turn.
Well now the head of The American Legion is demanding an apology from CBS writing to the CBS president quote.
As national commander of the 2.4 million member American legion as a Vietnam War veteran I would like to register my disappointment.
At the disgraceful slap in the face administered to American war Heros during your recent broadcast of the show the Amazing Race.
Another Vietnam -- joins us now colonel Lee Ellis was shot down over enemy territory and became a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
He is the author of leading with on -- colonel thanks so much for being here.
Thank you Alison good to be with you and -- have to say this is one time I have some feeling similar to Bob.
Up as strange bedfellows but -- I -- just just reiterate just so our viewers know who you are you were shot down.
Over enemy territory became a Prisoner of War you were held in their vice president prisons in Hanoi.
Over five years you were celebrated for your -- after that you received two silver stars alleged the legion of merit the bronze star with valor the purple heart.
And POW.
Medal for your service in Vietnam what do you think.
About -- here are pictures of you during that time in Vietnam.
What do you think about this stunt -- CBS.
Aged.
Well first of all I just think it shows a real lack of judgment and professionalism.
It is it's violates the normal probity that we would think that a professional would have.
To be that insensitive first of all.
To the families who might have been you know have lost loved ones in Vietnam to the veterans who served in Vietnam.
And then I think lastly one this very tender for me also is to propaganda.
Promoting the Communist Party and how they -- the party of truth and love and bright bright way to the future.
And that sort of thing -- just that CBS would participate in that really concerns me that they would have.
No screening of judgment no more wish someday and to do that it just really doesn't make sense.
-- what are you talking about there in terms of the propaganda is this Communist anthem they'd be contestants who worked ought to sing let's listen to a little piece of that on the -- Drove requires teams still watching the -- moments about patriotic Vietnamese.
We'll reveal the words or less celebrated one.
It's.
A president they are singing and dancing to that Communists.
Anthem.
This is called -- reality show but as we know about these shows they are well produced.
They are edited executives.
Screen these things before they air so message do you think the CBS executives were trying to send -- all of us.
I think it really was that they they set their own boundaries and -- kind of disregard.
What normal Americans would think would be appropriate and inappropriate or sensitive and insensitive.
As well as patriotic for our own country.
What do you think CBS should do now.
Well I think they -- -- sit down and have a little skull session on -- as we would say a murder board.
And realize that probably made a mistake in just apologize forward and be sincere about it I think Americans are good to about forgiving people and overlooking things.
We'll see what they're not.
What their true colors are here when we give them an opportunity apologize or just move ahead.
And just for your information fox has been calling CBS to try to get some statement -- response and they've not.
Gotten back to us but I understand it in particular -- going to it'd -- memorial to be fifty to use say you likened it to sort of dancing on someone's grave.
Well is that -- -- next door neighbor had just came come back from the cemetery burying one of their loved ones and family member and you had a big.
Beer party on your lawn and just kind of disregarded what they were going through.
It would be just the height of insensitivity and I think that's what we have here it's not be insensitive to the realities of what Americans have gone through in that war.
The loss of lives the service of our Americans.
And then also highlighting communism which which responsible for the murder millions of people in Vietnam as well as and other.
Countries around the world.
While -- -- Ellis thank you so much for your service thank you for sharing your thoughts all of this and hopefully CBS executives are listening.
And we will see what they have to say in the coming days thanks so much sir.
Thank you -- gets in future.
