-- happening now some new advice Republicans not to change their platform.
But to fight back in a new wall street journal editorial Liz Cheney.
Is reference saying how warning from rob -- in 52 years ago this weekend take a lesson.
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.
We didn't -- -- our children in the bloodstream.
The only way that you didn't have the freedom we have known.
-- it we fight -- protected.
If the candidate and then handed to them what they're well taught lessons on how they have their lifetime let's do the same.
And if you and I don't do this.
And you and I may well spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it once was like in America when men were pretty.
Joining us now Fox News political analyst Liz Cheney and -- used that -- to start off -- editorial and it's interesting to note that that was twenty years before.
I've Ronald Reagan was actually precedent in this country why did you decide that that quote it's now.
Well hi -- thanks for having me.
You know I think that president Reagan's message about how important it is -- to realize that freedom's not free and that each generation has an obligation.
To defend our freedoms.
Fit so well with the times we're living in now and you know as you look at what's going on the Republican Party.
Certainly we lost in 2012.
A lot of Republicans worked very hard and have been sort of depressed as a result of that loss that.
You know I -- a lot of other people have grown increasingly concerned that while the Republican Party is so focused on sort of wringing our hands about 2012.
The president is working very hard to put in place a series of very radical policies and it is past time in my view that the party needs to sort of pick itself up and say all right that's enough.
Witness stand against these dangerous policies -- of the to ensure that we are able to hand to our kids.
The kind of freedoms that we know -- made this nation great you take on the president directly in this article you say that as you just mentioned that he's the most radical man ever.
It's occupy the Oval Office but you also say that it's time for Republicans Republicans to to get over.
There are lots of 2012.
A question for you is how do you thing -- Republicans.
Should move forward.
How do you think they should change potentially.
Their rhetoric term contract when it have specifically to this administration.
You know I think what we need to do is have the courage to stand up and defend our values with a bigger.
Yeah we need to be in a position where we're saying to the American people this is why we are conservatives we believe in.
You know limited government we believe in low taxes we believe in a strong national defense we know that the private sector is.
The engine of growth for the economy we also know that the free enterprise system.
Is a system that is more likely to raise people out of poverty and provide opportunity for all.
Than any other system devised by man and we need to be clear about why we believe for these saying why believe in these things.
Made it clear about what we stand for.
Well and I could we also wanted to read it one of the reasons I bring -- that they criticisms of the president is that you specifically list off some of these criticisms.
As a way to to further define what you think Republicans should stand for but these complaints we've heard before over the years and still the president.
Was reelected so why keep going back to them if they haven't been effective for the Republican Party.
Well I think that you've got to look at 2012 and we have lessons that we need to learn but certainly you can't say that our values are not effective.
You could say that we didn't do good enough job -- explaining why we believe in these things why we know these are the right values to take this country in the right direction for the future.
But I think there's another important point here -- and that is that.
You know the Republicans are often criticized in the mainstream media as being obstructionist is saying note of the president's policies.
And my view in my point in this op Ed was to say wait a second when you have a president who's embark on such a dangerous path whether you wanna talk about domestic policy.
Ignoring the debt.
Trying to trample on our Second Amendment Rights on our religious -- him.
National security policy weakening this nation.
Across the board his policies are so dangerous that it is not obstructionism to block them it is in fact I believe patriotism so how do you think republicans' best expressed that potentially any new way.
In an effort to move forward.
You know I think it we've got some great new faces coming up in the party at that we've got a great bench.
But I think it's really important that we not let ourselves be sidetracked I think that what happens now.
What is happening too often is sort of a lot of voices saying well the solution is for the Republican Party to move to the left and I'm very concerned about that I think that's exactly the wrong thing for -- to be doing right now.
We certainly do not serve the country well we've become a watered down version the Democrats we need to be able to say the American people.
These values which frankly a majority of the American people -- you know when you talk about limited government and a strong national defense we talk about.
Being willing to stand up and say the United States is the most exceptional nation that's ever existed on the face of the year.
Those are majority American values and we as a party need to explain to people we're the ones who will defend those values that -- the ones who will fight for your freedom.
We're the ones it will insure.
That we have a growing economy that's providing opportunity for hall and that.
The -- this president is trying to take us down in fact is much more likely to lead to a situation like the one you've seen in Cyprus today.
The kind of European social democratic systems that frankly have not been effective and that will not serve the nation.
But their editorial certainly -- our attention brought some new conversations this topic we've been talking about so much is very public debate about where the Republican Party -- so it's it's great to have your thoughts.
-- interviews and check out the editorial on slamming let's start happening back as always thank you so much to be with you thanks.
