Mike McClellan and his wife Cynthia were found shot to death in their home earlier this week.

Thanks for having me this morning -- tell you what what's the climate like you have said that that you believe that your your profession.
Feels like it's under attack out there right now.
Well we unfortunately as prosecutors.
We received threats.
Pretty much on a regular basis.
But for years we never took those start seriously.
In this instance.
For what happened in Kaufman county it's an opportunity for us to revisit security measures.
Not just were elected to use what crawl prosecutors.
Throughout the state of Texas and throughout the nation.
-- you just reported earlier that.
US attorney out of Houston.
That was compelled to get off of the case.
What happening conference -- and sure enough right now our whole profession.
And even the constitution.
-- this allows us to move forward and prosecute the bad guys and make sure there are not on our streets anymore so.
We really do need to take this very seriously.
All of our you know -- ask all DA's.
To send support to Kaufman county.
Because if it happens in Kaufman county.
Make it happen in any county throughout this country.
Obviously united there there's a string of murders here now with the assistant.
District attorney and then the district attorney and his wife.
Who were killed in town hall -- lot of talk about the Aryan Brotherhood.
You know how much credence do you give that idea I know that the Houston.
Attorney who dropped out of the case that that was an Aryan Brotherhood case that he decided he did not want to pursue.
-- personally yeah.
-- have all faith in the sheriff's department Kaufman county.
And the Texas Rangers I think -- you we connect every lead.
-- I stated earlier they're not only thing that he organized crime.
They're also looking at him visuals individuals -- that may have prosecuted in the past.
I think that's a good approach and they're put in place.
We're in Dallas County which is you know not said -- -- miles away from -- county.
We decided early on when -- losses lie to you commit 30000 dollars to reward fund.
For his shooting.
Now we have the elected DA who's lost his life and his wife.
We would encourage prosecutors throughout the state of Texas.
To make those donations to crime stoppers.
And so they can you know have the resources necessary.
To figure out what happened here.
And you know -- hit.
Yeah you know or when you look -- -- your profession and you say that you believe is under attack.
And that these -- -- happen all the time.
You know what's your personal philosophy how do you sort of you know stay strong and and continue to do the work that you believe and when you know that these -- threats out there and the possibility that it could be some kind of organized crime.
That these murders could be connected me nobody knows at this point you know who's out there and who -- -- targeting next.
When I first came into office -- -- just thought it was par for course to get threats such as part of been an elected official.
Now that those threats have been acted upon it gives it gives us a reason team.
Call for change in how we implement security.
My security personally.
Has been beefed up since this happened and we're also working to have.
Our 250 prosecutors -- our security.
Entering that building and leaving the building.
The government so we have to change our mindset you know we you're.
In the courtroom every day fighting for justice and we have you know big deals in Texas and so we don't take too commonly the threats.
But this is an opportunity for us really take them seriously.
So this does not happen again.
-- -- unprecedented that that his wife was also assassinated.
As part of this hit.
How how concerned are you about your about your family and I'm sure others have the same concern continue in your business right now.
We're very concerned my wife is very concerned my kids you know they're young and they even.
-- watching the news and they're sleeping in our bare room every.
So this is no.
It's got a big effect on not all of our family.
I'm sure the families of the two and -- -- prosecutors that work for us and so you know we really do need to take this seriously this is this may be -- Texas tragedy.
But this is a national disgrace.
-- crime fighters throughout the state and the country.
We saw happen in Colorado's well to the prison director there certainly wish you -- I I sympathize with you I can't imagine how hard it is when your children are.
Afraid and in in that kind of situation we hope the situation is resolved -- and -- that you cannot get some peace of mind.
And continue to do the good work that you -- so we thank you for being here today.
