Nuclear armed North Korea today warning foreign diplomats in the capital.
He cannot guarantee their safety in the event of -- and it comes as the White House that it would not be surprised.
If the Communist regime conducted yet another major missile test.
As you know stand off of the so called hermit kingdom has become increasingly tense in recent weeks.
The Pentagon has now moved a number of F 22 stealth fighters into the region.
Along with several B two bombers each of the war planes are among the most advanced in the world edition.
The US navy reports that it has positioned to destroyers in the vicinity of North Korea at a special missile tracking radar platform.
But analysts say they are very concerned that the US military buildup could actually provoke North Korea's leader Kim Jung on.
To make a move in order to save face with his people the very same people of course he has been starving to death.
And his father and his grandfather for decades in order to pay for all of his weapons.
What is how to help break down the crisis a former US ambassador -- South Korea Christopher Hill ambassador hill negotiated.
With the north Koreans for four years and is now the dean of the Joseph.
-- whole school of international studies at the University of Denver it's a pleasure ambassador to get to talk to you.
Kim Jong ill and and his father to some extent both would periodically.
Make these belligerent and provocative moves -- then you know -- sort of backed down.
Action by Kim -- on -- only thirty years old.
Is is it far beyond the pale of the usual blustery rhetoric and if so why.
Well you're actually right this is gone on for years every time we have our spring exercises with the South Koreans the north Koreans kind of go into this hissy fit.
But you're right this is gone on longer and it's been stronger than ever before.
And I think a lot of it has to do with -- the -- -- North Korean people don't have a lot of confidence in this kid.
And so I think they're trying to showcase him as some.
Great military mind I mean those comical scenes of him barking orders to these North Korean generals -- -- fruit -- -- to try to.
Show what a tough guy he is so I I think it's all part of the sort of stage managing of this new untested leader.
I doubt it's going to work.
And the problem is -- -- this bluster which I think borders on before Maria times.
I think is is something that you know could get them into some -- incidents with the highly capable south Korean army.
And you know experts say look they don't have the missile technology to reach the United States but they could arguably -- may be some bases and of course we have.
-- thousand troops in South Korea.
If Japan or South Korea were attacked in some way.
Would there be retaliation if so what -- -- look like.
Oh I suspect there would be out and we have an alliance for those two countries.
And an attack on one of those countries as an attack on the United States so we would definitely.
Work together with those countries.
I would assume to be a retaliation.
I mean that would obviously depend on the circumstances.
But it is very important to us that they.
South Korean people the Japanese people have confidence that the US alliance really mean something so we wouldn't.
Just turn our backs on -- there would be something.
Would this arguably strength in the US China.
Alliance in someone's.
Well you know we don't have much of an alliance with China but we sure have an important relationship there.
And I think already because of this this bluster rather north Koreans he's threatened missile launches etc.
We have started to thicken up -- anti missile defense that cannot come as good news to the Chinese.
And you know they have to look at the north Koreans to really.
Start of this dance and there are many signs that the Chinese are getting kind of sick of North Korea like the rest of us are.
-- forgive me I meant to say relations now alliance with China this last quick question we've only got a few seconds left.
-- you worry here that they made pedal one of their nuclear weapons.
You know I I don't rule anything out -- the north Koreans that -- that peddle their own mother's.
Is that we don't know for sure that's why we have to be vigilant but to be the real danger here.
It's -- danger of a kind of inadvertent incident I don't think the north Koreans.
Really wanna go to war -- the United States of America I think they just wanna look.
But if they get right up to that line and they're kind of clumsy they could easily triple over the line cost some incident -- the south Korean army of South Korean navy.
And then you know it's it's going to be a tough situation controlling the escalation.
Ambassador Christopher Hill thanks so much for taking the time to be witnessed.
