Long needed debate over how much opinion college -- Canada should and do inject.
Into they'll elect chooses take a listen now to professor down race radio USC professor.
This video recorded during one of his lectures as a professor made it pretty stock political point -- that's -- We'll get hurt help my business -- all time homer record in print preview.
Is the last.
-- -- -- -- -- Republicans are trying to prevent.
People of color.
People who -- from devoted.
-- car and -- The Republican party of California the last vestige of angry old white men.
That video was recorded by a student obviously in that lecture.
And that student Tyler -- is Whitney hand now in the studio good to see this.
It's possible why did you decide to -- record video of your you profess.
Well I I had been in situations like this before in other classes.
And I felt like it got -- the point where.
Well actually is that for after the first say this class I notice that this is going to be a professor where he's going to be very active in.
Pushing his own ideological.
Agenda his political stances.
Which I'm not I'm not totally opposed to that and the class -- but I am opposed to the name calling.
To use the intimidation and to the the stereotypes.
That he kind of pushes on on students.
And I I think it's unfair and it that it contributes to a dishonest academic.
Experience a crack house.
So let me when you do you use to use the -- intimidation have his team to imitate his students well I think what he's calling students racists and stupid and because he goes on to say that and in a video that I think that when he.
When he does that to students it makes those students who may be parts of those groups -- not not racist but you know Republicans and -- you maybe Republicans or conservatives who he's -- racist I think that they.
-- feel like that that the pressure the president -- like that and he has he doesn't want them to be.
He may city wants them to be involved in the discussion that they might not feel like they're welcome and I think that it it makes them feel like if they.
If they -- it stand up for their points of view it could lead to them getting their -- marked down.
No not getting -- there do you feel that when you were in this particular professor's lectures that that the discussion walls less than it should have been.
Either because the professor.
Didn't allow it all because people were actually intimidated by -- both I think there's absolutely no discussion of the other point of view on these issues that he was talking about.
There is -- is purely his own agenda that he is pushing.
And I think that part of it was obviously he was not bringing up the other side and I think students also were completely intimidated -- To speak out against being accused of being a racist when so I think that it's not only with there's a kind of unfair.
Discussion that they were having but.
Also one that.
Doesn't really feel welcome and you still that USC yes -- and them -- how would -- me presuming to professor knows you've done this eskom has -- looking at people I'm not in his class anymore matter I read I released the tapes after the class was over and I got my grade and and I didn't what are it's my great great did you get I got name a class twelve very well done you know did you speak up and costs.
I didn't because -- I did feel like you disagreed with the professor honestly I -- felt unwelcome in the class how's that.
I wanted to present this as if what's going on it every well not every -- possibly certainly every college campus nicer because in America and when -- it.
Show the viewers of this video.
What it's like because most students are not going to be.
Standing up -- professors and trying to debate them and point out where they're wrong.
And in those situations I wanted to present this as -- as honestly and and would you -- within need political departments of USC though all views are represented.
I think as far as that night as you seed and in total but there are Republican professors that are there and it's.
People don't really know about it because they don't really go -- and make fun of their students -- that it's less.
I think they're more fair because maybe they feel like there.
That they can't really speak out because there and a minority in -- position to begin with but on this is not in every class USC it's certainly in a lot more than just one.
And it's in at least every big college and so what will what see on say hey Tom what do you -- would you would you like to take all opinion out of college lectures.
Not not really -- -- I'm not opposed to the professor saying where where his stances are what her stances are but I am opposed to the indoctrination.
Trying to get students to believe their own perspective I think that it should be -- professor's role should be -- facilitator.
To say you know here's where it.
Republicans believe -- it Democrats believe and had an honest.
Debate between the classmates in between professor because I think that this negatively impacts.
Both both students on on both sides of the political spectrum because whether you're Democrat or Republican you're leaving the classroom with the last.
Less of an understanding.
Because you're not getting that the best arguments of both sides and you're not exercising your -- critical thinking right -- to suggest to.
Bunch of you know people 20/20 one years old of -- of of that.
If they support the Republican -- California today are essentially -- -- just angry old white people -- that's the that's -- you draw a line with this not that he saying.
Not that he might put that bad that some people might say to the Republican Party it is preventing people of color people lower income from getting.
From voting by requiring voter ID.
To put that point at that for debate is fine.
But to indulge in the -- grilled white people kind of name calling is way -- -- you personally draw a line with -- yet as long as he also brings -- the other side right and he.
He says both -- honestly and honestly his students.
And this professor -- and you that the audience that he did not -- all America.
All right well I I should point out that we reached at two profess -- -- go.
Two for his reaction to this he has not gotten back to us if he would like to.
We would love to have him on the show any time.
Many like Tyler Tom it was a really interesting point there we -- this -- on.
Folks he's dot com opinion right now and off FaceBook page -- Twitter and it's a trip.
So please everybody weigh in and out thanks for bringing it to our attention I don't think it's very interesting debate in the who want to have.
