-- -- -- Fox News alert three college friends of suspect number two were arrested today in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings -- for the for the very latest we go live to fox news's own.
David Lee Miller he's standing by with all the details David.
-- these three friends according to authorities were trying to help -- arts and I have.
Avoid from being arrested two of those taken into custody Ira from Kazakhstan they are identified as nineteen year old Diaz -- nearby -- and as a met.
-- -- They allegedly conspired to destroy evidence of criminal complaint says they disposed of a backpack containing fireworks they also disposed of a laptop computer.
The question why again according to the complaint they did not want their friends and I have to get into trouble the complaint says and I quote.
-- a -- I have placed the backpack and fireworks along with the trash gathered in the apartment into a large black trash bag.
And then the trash bag into a dumpster but this they could receive five years behind bars also in court today a US citizen.
Rebel still oppose -- accused of repeatedly lying to investigators he lied according to the criminal complaint.
During three separate interviews finally during that fourth interview he confessed.
That he had not been telling the truth to agents also today we -- a little more about the alleged bomber Joseph cards are now I have.
He allegedly told his friends one month before the twin explosions that he knew how to make.
-- -- -- -- David thank you also tonight there is a report that the United States in fact received a letter from Saudi Arabia the Saudi government in 2012.
Warning them about suspect number one -- the White House and the embassy are now denying that report.
And for more on this developing story we'll go to former LAPD detective mark Furman and from the American Center for Law and Justice.
Are a lot to get to from both the legal aspect and the law enforcement aspect.
First I'll say do you market we were told by Sherlock a -- town all the Homeland Security secretary that there is no broader plot.
I thought at the time that she couldn't possibly make such a statement but she did it.
What's -- makes a lot of statements -- -- possibly.
We -- -- you know she has no law enforcement military or security experience before she was the head of Homeland Security so.
She's relying on what people feed her or just off the cuff but the larger plot Sean is world war.
With -- radical.
That's it in a nutshell and we're not getting on board it's it's a wake up call and no we're just not -- come into the game.
Yet when you read marked a criminal complaint as as we were going through all of this as it was unfolding and we kept talking a lot.
About surveillance tapes and photographs.
All of that is mentioned repeatedly.
In this complaint.
So clearly law enforcement they were very quickly they got a lot done but that we've got this other side a law enforcement where.
This got the older brother was on the CIA watch list and the FBI interviewed -- -- there was no follow up then the Russian government warned us.
And and frankly I don't think we've got any good answers to these questions why.
Well we haven't got any good answer Sean an -- in that FBI office in Boston or.
Some mysterious place there's a vaults of information where they do these investigations.
On possible terrorist.
And then hide -- so agents and law enforcement could never see them and compare the photos in the investigation.
To a crime that just occurred.
What happened here with these three young man look at this.
It was exactly like they know a murder occurred they took the murder weapon and tried to destroy it that in a nutshell is what they did.
Well two of them admitted that they agreed to get rid of this material after concluding from news reports.
That the suspect number two was in fact one of the Boston Marathon bombers.
That is legally let's talk about that.
Absolutely and market actually correct also I mean this is no different than a murder weapon being hidden and Sean you know some are acting -- -- these three students that our men.
They are adults and -- acting -- -- this was some kind of cheating scandal they were trying to cover up this was a terror attack.
That they were trying to destroy evidence.
Of and that is the real problem here -- weather today.
Knew it before or new -- afterwards we know one thing they -- -- afterwards because the text messaging they got the statements that they've made.
Shows that they've committed a crime but there's something deeper here.
And that is where are the answers to these questions why are we so insistent -- when I say -- Homeland Security the government the president so insistent.
On saying these were lone wolves or as they're now saying.
These were self radicalized.
So what does that mean by the way -- did you watch an Internet site long enough what's the difference between being there watching it on your computer screen and actually hearing the guy in the -- making those statements I don't think there's much of a difference it's exactly what mark said.
We're at war with a radical jihadist and as soon as we recognize that we -- what college students get away with.
Destroying or talk attempting to destroy evidence not only that -- -- an -- -- that was Doug and Doug I'd say.
-- that mean -- they're admitting to doing this at this particular point of you believe the criminal complaint here's the here's what I don't understand that the first instinct of our government.
Is not to suspect.
What is obvious that there's a good chance that radical Islamist jihadist could be involved that's number one.
In the case of Fort Hood -- they just outright -- to the American people say nods workplace violence we all -- differently.
And then just -- -- tell the American people in this instance there's a broader plot.
And we find out there were on watch list they -- warned the older brother had an entire YouTube channel.
You would think that they would be monitoring on their own anybody that's posting radical Islamic jihadist.
Videos the way the older brother was -- in it including somebody that they specifically warned about mark.
Sean you know we do you do you you're you're right -- and when you look at this.
You're asking the question why does the federal government why does the White House why -- why do the the mouth pieces for the White House say what they say.
-- they say it because it's easier it's harder to track down terrorists there's -- -- that the bar is much much higher and you need to be much much.
And a more and into the game of security and anti terrorism and that takes effort that takes training and it takes that throwing political correctness out the window.
You need to call things as they are.
Radical Islamist radical Islamic and -- normal Islamic -- are not doing anything to dismiss that attitude.
All right well you know Jay let me ask you to your question about that these three that we learned about today I mean they they.
Willingly destroyed concealed covered up.
On the part of suspect number two the younger brother -- -- And then in another case lying to investigators.
If -- that lawyer tonight what are you thinking in terms of how much shut culpability there might be for them and -- what kind of penalty they may be facing.
Well right now they're facing one faces -- -- your penalty the other five years but I would be worried about additional charges again I don't know what that what the rush was.
For the US attorney's office to to file the complaint here.
Again you know these -- -- you got two of them aren't even American -- so this -- are they enemy combatants I don't know what they are we don't know who they are we don't know we know one thing.
That they they did try to an attempt to destroy weapons but you know what this really Sean.
None of this is fitting into the White House is narrative on how this.
War of against terrorism was supposed to be over the narrative is not playing -- the way the administration wants to if you're a lawyer here you've got to be really concerned that there's more charges as it probably should be as this investigators -- -- should we expect that there's going to be more people.
-- involved in this.
Before all said and done.
Yes but I'm not sure that -- I'll find out now lower and possibly ever but I think there's going to be a lot of people.
Down on the line and they knew about these these Brothers and -- training in Russia.
And it's gonna come out more more -- trickle trickle out by I believe I believe that all right.
Guys thanks so much for being with us we'll continue to update follow the story they don't get to the truth we don't get to the bottom of it.
We remain vulnerable to future attacks that's why this is important.
And coming up next tonight.
