And hello again from fox and is in Washington.
Well this -- the long slow investigation into the attack on the US consulate in Ben Ghazi.
May take a dramatic turn.
-- government workers with new information testify before congress.
Joining us now are two members of -- house oversight committee that will conduct a -- Republican Jason -- and from Massachusetts Democrat Stephen Lynch and congressman.
Welcome to Fox News on -- -- Congressman -- -- we know at least tool whistle -- with direct knowledge -- Ben -- are going to testify before your committee on Wednesday night.
Gregory -- who was the deputy chief of mission in Libya.
And Mark Thompson and officer in the states counterterrorism.
What will they now add to our understanding of the attack.
And is anyone else gonna come forward either Wednesday were like well we've got other people come forward and I think you'll see other hearings as well.
These two gentlemen -- unique position.
hicks became the chief of mission when -- ambassador Stevens went missing.
He has a unique.
In -- when I went to Libya about three weeks three and a half weeks after I was able to talk to -- -- I think he's patriotic he's not partisan.
I think he was being suppressed a little bit and we need to hear from exactly what happened and didn't happen that night he was the chief of mission in Libya when this went down suppressed by home.
Well that's what we want to have a hearing about because you know we heard things for instance that there was no military option there was no.
Our ability to get any of metallic -- military personnel there.
I think you're actually gonna hear some testimony that says we did have some military options we could've gotten some people there and they were told to stand down.
That's the kind of thing that we need to be exploring this here and Mark Thompson the officer and states' counterterrorism bureau.
-- -- -- it slowly overseas what's called the fast the for an emergency support team.
This is a unique group that is supposed to have -- the quick rapid response interagency team.
When a terrorist type of activity hostage situation goes out they were never called into action why was that why -- never engaged in this.
That's exactly what -- stood up for.
Now you said.
And then I'm gonna bring in congressman links in a moment but but you said earlier that you're not these are only the only people -- -- testify along with Eric Schwartz from who.
Testified earlier but you said there are a lot of other potential witnesses out there watching watching for -- Well I think these people are afraid of retribution they're afraid of what the State Department may do to them they've had trouble just getting an attorney.
The State Department hasn't given us the documents they want to -- every single turn the State Department and the White House this is competed this investigations why it's continue to go on salon.
There are other people on the ground with firsthand knowledge that want to testify and I think will testify at some point.
Congressman -- how do you explain the fact that eight months after Ben Ghazi we have still not heard from a single witness who was on the.
-- that night in -- We had we had.
And accountability review board that went through this led by ambassador Pickering and admiral -- They actually interviewed over a hundred witnesses.
And who were on the ground some of whom were on the ground obviously and and many who were involved peripherally.
And and they made a review the was no breach of -- here.
Dayton they made a determination that that be the be critical element here was that.
The the host country.
Forces that work committed to protecting.
That the consulate and bank -- Walked off the job basically.
And doubt that created day you know way security profile that was totally insufficient but -- letting it but it on September 11 but if I make congress and why is it that we have not heard in public from a single person who was on the ground.
-- a congressional hearing.
The Republicans could -- -- house.
We've had we've had investigations Nordstrom came forward -- adult -- -- had hearings here prior to the the recent elections.
The house you'd -- investments that state that's why they haven't brought up people if you want to know that we don't have the ability to holy hearing.
The Democrats have been completely.
Kept out of this whole process -- has been 888.
A one sided investigation if you want to call that there's been no sharing of information in a significant way what the democratic staff members who usually conduct.
This type of that investigation that is disgraceful to be honest when a guy but let's get to this question because it this has been one of the charges that -- been.
And it it threats intimidation.
And and and threats of retaliation so let's discuss that this wake a lawyer for one of the witnesses said that the State Department.
Has threatened officials who wanted to testified state respondents said they don't know of anybody who was requested to testify let's watch that extra.
Not talking generally I am talking specifically about -- got.
That people have been threatened and not just the State Department -- people have been threatened that the CIA.
We repeatedly of this person saying that there.
There to whistle blower who's been held back from telling their story.
And we're not aware this individual or anyone who's.
-- to tell the story.
Congressman -- -- how's the Obama administration block potential witnesses from testifying.
Or not absolutely and more than one we -- -- for the non classified version of how to these people get an attorney.
That has a degree of -- -- it classified information.
And they still haven't given us that though there are people out there don't wanna testified that have been -- -- department person just say nobody needs her lawyer or a witness has requested to testify because they're scared to death of what the State Department is doing to them and that's what.
But where the other branch of government they're supposed to be able to come to congress to be able to share this type of information.
That has not happened because the administration is suppressed we have a person who was injured.
Eight months ago who still in the hospital they changed his name on the medical records this is -- story of the State Department doing things that haven't been done in any other day I sign -- again I want to bring uses congressman lets you.
-- a direct threat a direct.
-- act of intimidation against the potential witness yes and I think will probably tell us -- -- -- completely false -- -- -- -- let me -- -- I -- let him before gate that -- the guy had -- you -- -- is that there are people more than one that have felt intimidation from the State Department they can't even go through the process of getting an attorney -- represented them.
With that degree of classified information that they have.
Congressman -- your turn.
The only reason that the attorneys and have been two attorneys involved here the only reason they haven't received information as they haven't asked for it yet.
They haven't ass truck has not been a a a request for documents from these attorneys to the State Department -- the state -- -- more.
More than willing to cooperate but.
They haven't asked for us but the the only the only the only retaliation I've heard -- here is that one of these witnesses.
Watch -- assignment and a promotion he hasn't gotten a promotion that he wanted any shame that that's somehow retaliation.
So you know.
Everybody yet that is actually in the process that's that's the that's the level of -- threats and intimidation he hasn't got a promotion and why yes.
Let me give you another example this State Department will not release to the committee to the United States congress.
Here we are eight months after we should -- a look at the same information accountability review board wants to see we wanna be accountability review board to come before congress that hasn't happened.
When you -- to actually go see documents they've given us eight -- of documents over multi month process.
They send -- State Department person in there to look over my shoulder to see what I'm looking at we've had democratic staff and there there is not a single Democrat on that panel that has ever come down to look at those documents I've been down -- but I nursing a Democrat down there and it's totally open of them did the entire process.
There's -- lunch.
Sure every time I'm given that those private documents I have somebody from State Department All My Children as well.
All are rather than it is not right that's not our right and unclassified document I don't know how much -- That would let go ahead congressman like.
-- I find it incredible.
Look at this whole whole situation we're talking about including including my my colleague mr.
When Secretary Clinton in the State Department asked for additional funding.
Fought embassy security they all voted no they all voted -- have -- they already I might -- we're getting a little come on now I -- -- we -- -- -- -- -- I understand that there's an issue about security.
It's a little bit off the truck I want to try to stay on on on course here not as -- the point congress -- complaining about a lack of security.
At at the embassies.
After they voted against full funding for security at the embassy.
That's what they're complaining about -- a lack of security at the embassies when they all Barak to cut a half a billion dollar doesn't take advantage of that and not as -- not related.
This CFO has sent in an email let's let's Israel words that they chief financial officer for the State Department said ending email.
The finances had nothing to do with the decisions about finding at that that the facility.
That security personnel or -- from the Pentagon budget they weren't paid from the State Department budget.
This is this is the facade it's a distraction there -- four people -- here.
Hot and I wanna talk out about that that there let's talk about.
Both forehand because there are sort of three stage of this before during and after the attack two weeks ago the Republican.
Shares of five house committee and and I will agree with Congressman -- here -- just the Republicans not the Democrats.
Issued an interim report on bond -- Gaza in which they charge that secretary of state then secretary of state Clinton.
Misled congress when she's sad that she had never seen any request for more security.
In Libya let's take a look at what you said.
The specific security requests.
Pertaining to Ben Ghazi.
You know we're handled by the security professionals in the department I didn't see those requests they didn't come to me I didn't approve them I didn't deny them.
Now the house report by the five Republicans made a big deal of the fact that in April.
After -- gotten -- request last April.
That -- table -- out from the State Department under the name of Hillary Clinton.
Not only not granting more security but saying the security draw down would continue.
Congressman shape as it turns out that every cable that goes from the State Department has Hillary Clinton spent hundreds of thousands of people millions of -- The Washington Post looked into this and call the allegation by the house Republican chairman.
A whopper why would help that.
Steve -- would join me in calling for the release of this document it's an unclassified document but my understanding is that Hillary Clinton's name is on that -- they'll hold on here.
She beat Hillary Clinton claims that take full responsibility for this and yet at the same time pleads ignorance.
For much else to that there were among I don't utterly routine documents to go out tonight and at some point got -- -- and I -- -- point.
Thought -- could I please log.
These -- the same allegations these -- -- shape its end and the Republican -- allegations that she signed off on a reduction and and and for us.
-- -- -- -- It got four -- -- Automobiles from the Washington Post that's hard to do even in Washington.
I mean you know people say that Washington is the place where she -- -- guy and this is an exact this -- an exact instance of that.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I want to talk to you about a controversy continuing controversy.
About the talking points that came out afterwards that led some people -- to a lot of this information.
These are talking about the administration put out after the attack.
Steve Hayes of the weekly standard.
Reports that the first -- by the CIA on September 14 sad deaths.
The crowd almost certainly wasn't necks of individuals from across many sectors of Libyan society.
Not being sad we do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qaeda participate in the attack this is the first draft of talking points for the CIA.
And September 14.
But after objections from state.
And after the White House -- that meeting you can see the talking points.
And I had the little hard to see there in the screen there are lots of lines drawn through than they were heavily edited and all mention of this Islamic extremists were taken out.
Weren't the talking points the administration put out in advance -- that are rice's appearance of those spots on -- Weren't those talking points screw up.
This -- they weren't accurate I don't know I don't know what the process was there.
But but actually -- they were false they were wrong.
There what there were no protests outside -- them Ben -- compound there.
This was a a you have a deliberate and -- strategic attack on on the on the consulate there so any statements that this was sort of like the you know.
The the the other protests that we saw in Cairo and other other embassies this was not that type of.
-- up really late so greatly -- -- right and we're running out of time Congressman Lynch how do you explain the fact.
That ought not Sunday.
At UN ambassador rice cave on this show and for rather Sunday shows.
Never mention the al-Qaeda extremists which had been scrubbed from the it.
Dropped from the talking points but didn't mention a reaction to the anti Islam video which had never -- in any of the talking points.
Well it was -- that was totally inaccurate you're absolutely right there's no excuse for that and I it was false information and an.
What they try to do is harmonize what happened ending as he -- What happened everywhere across everywhere else across the the Middle East and event -- a -- -- and you think it was -- because of the fact that that didn't fit into the president's.
Narrative that al-Qaeda was on the run.
Well yeah I think it was a victory of hope -- reality.
To be honest with I'm gonna -- -- hoping that this wasn't the case.
Hope over reality I wouldn't call it a victory of hope Hillary I mean that that's that's looked at the end of the day.
We -- four dead Americans we got a kid who's still in the hospital we got hundreds of embassies and consulates we got thousands of people serving overseas we haven't had the truth.
Four and a half months after the incident also secretary all of all we worked together on that down instead of just that category five Republican.
How -- we work together then -- know that -- having gone.
And you're getting -- 124 Alice to go to Ben got the democratic you know by the opportunity to work together off camera before Wednesday's current congress -- a statement.
Congress I -- if -- wanted to let you borrow for giving us a very spirited preview.
Of Wednesday's -- we'll stay on top of the story gentlemen thank you very much thank you.
