They had no player who had no contingency plans -- and what if this happens.
And that's a problem -- the -- congressman face in the future.
Doing your vote with more hostile regions hostile -- -- this attacks to happen again.
That Ben Ghazi whistleblowers speaking exclusively with Fox News and with the stunning -- revelations.
He says that help could have arrived in time for the second attack.
And members of the special ops community -- knowledge of the attacks have been recommended to silence.
With me now retired US army lieutenant colonel Tony Shaffer joins us from DC.
And the former commander of the USS Cole that was bombed in a terrorist attack in 2000.
-- -- -- -- gentlemen thanks so much for being with us this evening thank you for -- -- right they honored -- start with you -- commander -- I mean what's your reaction to what anonymous is saying there.
I -- -- -- agree because clearly you don't have a review board conducted by the organization it's under question itself.
And you don't expect them to do what needs to be done.
One or two hearings are not gonna give answers for people died families deserve answers the American people deserve answers.
And quite frankly congress needs to push to have a larger and broader investigation.
Well and not only that I mean obviously to get into the whole issue of the whistle blowers and and Tony -- I mean you -- a whistle blower are regarding the 9/11 failure.
-- the well what's happened to these guys and what kind of protection can anyone give these guys.
Lot of judge that's going to be the issue here first off kudos for fox breaking this Catherine Herridge first said this was the what the way it's playing out now on the seventeenth of September.
And that's the problem here because this record is so -- -- now.
With so many pieces missing these guys have to fill those pieces they're going to be escorted it right now judge that I find out who their real friends are because all the real friends are gonna stick -- them.
And it can -- a a basically at whisper campaign they're going to be things said about them and frankly one of things have been going on the hill for the past few days -- a -- Because these guys have to go through a -- -- anybody's going to be a witness.
To basically make sure that nothing in her background can be used against him because judge they're going to be come after big time I don't care what the congress is about protections.
They will use any detail any flaw in their character to basically try to make their character less reputable for the purposes of discrediting them and they're gonna be saying damaging things and that's what they're going to be -- Act on and you know on -- back to commit a commander lippold we have another sound.
From -- and another whistle blower let's see if we can play that guys.
We basically we don't want -- but certainly want to.
Then the problem is if ambassador -- failed we.
Knew that -- personal information.
About the people who tool there -- -- The broker -- we keep hope it doesn't go revenues in the face -- -- and well.
-- -- -- -- Commander look all that mean your reaction to that one.
What the judge quite frankly we as a nation.
Have to be strong enough to look at the fact that there may have been flaws in the entire operation surrounding Ben Ghazi.
We need to have -- thorough investigation into it.
And be open and honest put the politics aside we do not need to be putting people in harm's way for the sake of this nation's security.
And not give them the support they need on the ground when things start to go bad.
Or when they do go bad and we investigated.
If things went wrong let's be honest let's open it up let's learn from it.
Because if we don't it will happen again -- -- and deserve answers and so to the American people.
And very quickly commander -- me.
The USS Cole I need it you know we saw what can happen to Americans.
And we -- about these accountability review boards over and over I address that they're saying they're -- saying the same thing.
You know what why is that that this is -- is a problem that you think we're gonna continually come up against.
Because a lot of people like to use accountability is a substitute term for responsibility.
And the reality is.
When it comes to responsibility.
For who put these people in harm's way why they did it.
What was the information that they were using.
Why weren't they backed up none of those questions have truly been answered and until they are.
These Stanley -- to do it Jay Carney he's comment the other day from the White House was cruel and it was like cruel like it stays right at least.
Don't let -- -- it wasn't just like it was a long time ago for every morning he Stanley's wake up without a loved one it was this a bit.
-- and then just yesterday are right and that Tony Shaffer got had got.
While no one of the points it to wreck occurred is that there was a 15 August memo which stated that -- each state outlined Katherine -- a class but no capping her reported this about what exactly how the worst case there it would it would what happened they actually spelled out.
Judge how they would die.
In this -- so this is the point occured trying to make it -- -- you've got to fix things if you want to present in the future so we got to help have real accountability real change prevent the next attack.
All right lieutenant colonel -- commander -- thanks for being with us this evening.
