-- back now to some of the highlights of the dramatic testimony we've heard from me.
Hearing now underway into what the government knew about our attack.
The attack on our consulate and -- Ghazi and I -- -- of last year.
Three State Department employees testifying about what happened that night and raising questions about the military response or lack thereof.
And why special forces were not deployed to Libya sooner.
This map shows the distance in hours that.
Servicemen work from Ben Ghazi at the time of the attack.
In addition there were some forces on him in Tripoli.
Here's congressman Jason -- it's a Republican.
Questioning Gregory hicks the number two man in Libya on that last hour.
We determined that we needed to send.
Team from Tripoli to secure the airport for the withdrawal of our personnel from -- -- after the mortar attack.
But were any of these US military personnel not permitted to travel on a rescue mission -- relief mission to been -- They were not.
Authorized to travel.
What happened what those personnel.
They remained in Tripoli with us.
The medic went with the nurse.
To the hospital.
To end his skills to the treatment of how -- the personnel react to being told to stand down.
They were furious.
Ollie north is a Fox News military analyst and with me now colonel -- good to see you again.
-- -- -- -- can you explain this in terms that we can all understand about what they're trying to tell us because it looks like there -- at least two teams they're talking about that they believe could have been deployed but weren't.
Which by the way the Pentagon is pushing back on both argument saying.
It could have happened logistically it couldn't have happened in time to make a difference it couldn't have happened because we have -- race issues and refueling issues and preparedness issues.
But -- let's back up just a moment to what happens before the attack begins.
Here's the thing that I find to be so stunning about this.
Having once had the job of coordinator for US counter terrorist.
There was no preparation whatsoever no pre -- of assets no alerts sent out threat warnings is it that you would be called.
To our embassy or to the consulate that this is the anniversary of the 9/11 01 attack.
I find that to be absolutely reprehensible.
And that comes from Washington.
And let me -- -- and hands it we are being told that you know -- that we know now.
That that the CIA had chatter that they had detected warnings that they that there had been warnings that an attack was going to happen I'm not eleven.
Well it and it it -- -- what the other important parts that whole thing is that the -- the abysmal lack of human intelligence on our part.
Leads to an ambassador who's not in his in his embassy.
-- which is significantly better protected than the consulate in Ben -- or the -- itself.
This is that the questions that ought to be asked is why was no threat warning -- why were no forces -- position.
We know that we had a -- In extremist force in training up and in the caucuses.
I believe was actually open former Yugoslavia.
There was nothing done to put forces in place that could respond very quickly second of all in the midst of the attack.
The evidence of massive bureaucratic and that this incompetence.
-- reasons and of course no real accountability for that and finally in the aftermath.
One the falsified and that -- the right word used -- it's not just.
Errors in the talking points the falsified talking points provided to people we're going to speak public publicly about it.
And it continued cover up that occurs in this so called report.
-- of the accountability review board now look you know Mike -- as a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Tom Pickering is a former ambassador.
As the -- that you have an -- the regardless of what happened.
Exactly Tom Pickering was the beneficiary.
Of a massive increase in security when he was our ambassador in El Salvador I know.
I I wrote the order it was signed by the national security advisor sent the president.
And they beefed up to security dramatically in El Salvador because he was the target of a threat.
I would have thought that Tom Pickering.
What about the integrity to say what was done for me was not done for ambassador Stephens and it should have been and here's the list of people who should be held accountable.
Any update this ARB that's you know that but Pickering in -- who do -- review -- -- Hillary Clinton.
I -- -- to Hillary Clinton and -- was it was enough that we talked to sort of the assistant secretary level well.
How do you know it's enough if you don't actually talked to her and find out what she knows.
Well ultimately didn't you saw in the speeches were being delivered by the Democrats having sat there for one of those hearings -- -- over of the experience and I think nine days.
That the speeches by the Democrats trying to justify their position.
-- to protect the administration.
Are part of one of the reasons that this whole thing is probably not gonna result in anything significant being done except people looking back on it and saying.
-- -- wish we done a better job.
It makes you feel -- -- -- see these guys testify about their friends what they went to went through why -- Who as -- sat there wondering where the support was where is the backup where's the help him where where's the air support with where I mean -- Should all have been pre positioned should all have been ready it's the anniversary of 9/11 01 and for the rest of your days -- mind on this earth.
That will be a day of high threat what was the ambassador doing -- that was so important that he was given no protection at all.
-- Oliver North thank you sir.
