What is the issue with this Heritage Foundation study there are lots of issues with inherited study it begins with this.
They say that immigration is gonna cost the United States big bucks.
What -- argue is that there's entitlement spending everything from obamacare to welfare to education cost.
That attached to having illegal immigrants become legal immigrants.
And they say that this is not being considered by the gang of eight in terms of the legislation.
Now under discussion in the congress in your opinion are there any flaws with this study well I think their critics and the critics interestingly come from the right.
Fellow conservatives in here I'm talking about people like Marco Rubio here I'm talking about people like the former chairman of the Republican National Committee Haley Barbour.
I'm talking about people at the Cato Institute are saying that this study is deeply flawed that they are looking at cost and not considering growth.
And of course they're also saying all American children get education every American is eligible for some of this entitlement spending why are you attaching it solely.
To people who are here currently.
And an undocumented status people see that as unfair.
Marco Rubio for example points out that typically heritage scores these kind of economic packages in terms of what he calls dynamic growth.
Looking out projecting the benefits of immigration new businesses new employment new ideas.
Not in this case -- and simply focuses on the cost.
And it's not that the case that anyone would say that's an accurate.
It's just that go according to the critics and I've only mentioned -- the critics on the right the Republican critics certainly the critics on the left.
But even the Republican critics are saying that's a one sided analysis.
Is there anything else that's hurting The Heritage Foundation with this study well there is and this is highly controversial but one of the authors of the study.
Has been found to have previously done work that indicated that Hispanics were.
Inferior less intelligence than than whites and that's led to people making accusations.
That the study and a given it's author has some racist roots.
How badly will this hurt The Heritage Foundation.
Well I think that it's interesting I think among pro immigration reform folks -- Marco Rubio is in the like the Wall Street Journal's I think it.
Has called into question what is going on with -- under its new leader Jim the -- the former senator from South Carolina.
And admit it was previously a mentor to Marco Rubio.
Now they find themselves on different sides of this highly contentious issue that is critical to the future the party.
And a lot of party leaders want support for the idea of getting immigration reform accomplished.
To have The Heritage Foundation the leading conservative think tank in the country.
Issue this report at this moment strikes them as undermining the best interest of the Republican Party.
