We know Lincoln really -- What is going on been down in Oklahoma right now and even our reporters down there Casey Stegall is -- live from Moore Oklahoma to give us the latest on what's going on and how the people are coping Casey.
-- good to see you you know I want to show this to people in other parts of the country that are watching that may not be familiar with this.
This right here what -- -- is likely was saved an awful lot of lives here in Moore Oklahoma.
It is an underground.
Tornado or an underground storm bunker and it's got reinforced walls they have bottled water and hear some flashlights -- weather radio.
And that I'm gonna climb out here it's just a tiny space that that a family could fit down in.
Down into once they get the warnings coming from the National Weather Service -- their local reports.
And you can see.
This is what's left of the home where this storm shelter belongs around it was once the garage.
And you can see why you're safe down in something like this and I interviewed a man yesterday who rode out the tornado in one of these like hundreds did.
The door like this discloses.
And then -- -- usually goes in it.
And this was right in in their garage and this is what saves likely so many lives and why we haven't seen a higher death told in Moore Oklahoma.
I wanna kind of pan the camera around here because as you sort of look around boring it is entirely devastation no matter where you go.
You look all around and all you see our homes that are splintered into millions of pieces.
You have cars that have been tossed around crumpled up like ten cans.
Medal in the in the trees.
Trees that have been stripped of bark that have been split into.
It is all around you and the people here very much still in a search and rescue mode.
They don't want to transition to a surgeon and recovery mode which means they've given up hope.
Of finding people alive because the likelihood is there could still very well be people.
That are in storm shelters like I just showed you that are covered in debris and they're not as open as about one was.
The people who lived in this home that storm shelter they didn't have to use it because they were both.
-- the reality is there are still people unaccounted for right now -- -- -- listen to an exchange I had a short time ago with a woman who was in this neighborhood.
For someone she loves listen.
One -- -- -- like pretty much my hand -- them and buy my wine and there really -- from the and I seen anything on basic themes that -- just mention occasionally just looking at the destruction.
-- sad that this happens to people and I don't really know how to pick up after this.
How do you that's thinking you can describe the communications here it's it's just -- can't text you can't call you can't you don't have any connection and anybody here really.
This study happened Oklahoma -- seniors going out again and -- Just reeling but there's nothing left most of us have -- -- is brand new and it's just.
Died when you walk through this neighborhood and any kind of see you know him.
So assuming you spent time here because you get someone so close to lose in -- -- you see what's left -- would.
They -- this is suppressing like I don't know how these people are supposed to just like picked up a live -- in ninety.
Living in houses to get skinny and be really hard famous people and so there's that business I'm dying just nowhere to be quite a lot.
It hasn't really hit me -- around they it's really Saturday thanks don't know what to do it's on the second shot.
A lot of people are in shock you know they may not have the physical scars of the more tornado that blew through here just -- three past just a little after 3 o'clock in the afternoon on -- Monday.
Here in Oklahoma.
-- guards dramatically and and you see a lot of people walking around sort of with blank looks on their faces as -- searching for their loved ones as they're coming up to their homes.
Or what's left of their homes for the first time.
Almost hard to put into words -- The death toll we know that the medical Examiner's office lowered it from what was being reported last night because they said in the chaos of everything that.
People victims who did not survive were likely counted twice although they are confirming that out of the dead nine are children.
And the sad reality is here as the more time goes by the likelihood of us seeing that death total increase.
Goes way up.
