-- -- -- -- -- Greta are you.
I must talk about the number of things including that the scandals that are consuming -- in -- and education but let me go first to this in those.
Do you think a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate are you satisfied that congress can do -- alone or should both be doing it.
Well -- obviously you know the situation -- the IRS is very very troubling.
I don't care what party you're affiliated with in America.
You don't expect that's an incumbent president his administration would use in neutral instrument like.
The tax enforcement agency -- IRS.
To go about discriminating against political opponents so it's a serious matter and I know here in Richmond we've had a Tea Party group.
That was targeted.
You know I've been I've been in touch with them since the minute they realize that that was the case.
And we've got to get to the bottom of this and I'm very proud.
-- committee chairman and their members are both on the Ways and Means Committee chairman camp as well as chairman ice in the oversight committee.
In the work that they're doing and we will get to the bottom of this.
And it is about producing the answers.
About what the American people deserve.
And ideas from the people who have conducted these investigations.
Why did they do it who gave in the orders to do so.
When did everyone know when to the White House -- and then in that way we can make sure it does not happen again.
Just in the first -- centers -- -- connecting the president to this scandal.
Well I don't know what he knew and when he knew it so he's got to come forward and lead on the us.
You know he has given the impression that somehow he's disconnected with what's gone on entire us just like he is now saying is disconnected with what's going on and Ben -- He's disconnected with what's going on the DOJ as far as I its investigation of the national security -- It seems that he is disconnected with the leadership and lost focus in terms of what he should be doing.
As far as leading the country so we've got to get to the bottom of this and I do think the presence gonna have to come forward.
And give the American people the answers that they deserve.
He's Ariza that he didn't find out about till about may tenth when he read about it in the news from number one.
Do you believe him on that and number two worry -- that -- that's simply not doing the job.
-- for -- -- we -- let the facts speak for themselves and that's why aren't they worked at our committees are doing interment camp and I send their members.
On those committees are doing is so important.
Other conducting the investigations in a way that are fact base without assuming any thing.
But knowing full well that the American people have a right.
Did feel violated when you have the tax enforcement agency.
-- exacting punishment discriminating.
Against certain groups of people and we just don't do that in America.
I'm -- -- understand do do you believe the president when he says he didn't learn about to Bob May tenth any of the IRS behavior.
Again I I think that -- the question is.
Is one that is appropriate when did the president know.
And so on what kind of communications.
I came from there are asked to the White House or vice Versa with -- all of this.
We don't even have the beginning of the answers to those questions and that's what our committees are tasked with doing in doing a very good job.
At being very fact -- very methodical about going about getting the answers from the people this country.
I like take a gut I mean whether you believe we're don't believe and that's still on the table is that what I understand that you yeah.
He says -- hitting it.
I think there's a lot of unanswered questions still the president said -- when he found out about I guess that's a working assumption.
But again if there -- people all around him that knew and we don't know the answers to that -- raise additional questions and I think this is what these.
Committee hearings and investigations are about the purpose that they'll serve.
-- lowest -- the IRS employee took the fifth.
If she added technically I think she still under subpoena I don't think she's been discharged recipient of the guys read.
Bring great awesome always reason -- if she was but should she come back should she be brought back of the hearing.
Add the committee and answer questions.
And I think straight up in a ms.
Laura -- of the American people to produce the answers where she shouldn't be working for the American people that simple.
If someone cannot come forward.
And explain what it is that she did.
I I think that she shouldn't be working for the American people anymore it's that simple.
Department -- started a criminal investigation and that's -- -- -- Well -- look national security is something Greta that all of us know is a priority it's a constitutional.
Imperative for the federal government to ensure.
And that has to be dealt with on the other hand -- know that we very much.
Our country that -- use of freedom of the press in fact the press of a watchdogs.
My as far as government activity is concerned to make sure.
That we as people can hold our government accountable.
So I I do think that there are questions.
That need to be resolved here hopefully that the investigation is ongoing -- -- -- Will produce some results I know that our committees as well -- very interested in monitoring that situation.
Well there's one there's one question serve brewing out there is whether or not the attorney general misled the House Judiciary Committee.
When he denied he says the potential prosecution -- the press for the disclosure material is not something.
He was involved in or no but neither is it Cindy might have been asked about the associate press and might not including.
The subpoena James Rosen I'm not exactly certain what he meant but -- Do you have any reason to believe that the attorney -- of the United States was misleading congress.
Again without -- shooting any of that intent right now.
Is certainly we have a very troubling situations something that occurs as big as this would occur without the knowledge.
Of the attorney general or the suggestion that it would do so so.
I again I think the facts are going to be able to speak for themselves.
This is a very serious matter and one that again the American people deserve the answers that they seek.
And I would just say Greta once again we have and -- an administration that's lost focus on governing.
And that is very problematic going forward on all of these issues.
-- chairman -- -- has sent now a subpoena the Department of Justice.
Asking for -- is -- deadline of Friday June 7 is actually sent to secretary of state John -- To provide documents -- communication of ten personnel claimed Cheryl Mills concert chief of staff to former -- state Hillary Clinton.
Victorian -- who is a nominee for new job.
Other people William Burns.
And -- of course -- best Jones acting assistant sector for near eastern affairs he wants all these documents.
Do you do you agree with them that the document should be forthcoming by the seventh of of June and has State Department drain its feet.
Well no question that there isn't dragging of the feet going on here and the American people have a right.
To know what exactly happened that night.
When Ben Ghazi burned.
And -- we need to find that -- the answers as to who knew what went.
And what happened as far as the message that came after the from the administration.
The bottom line is Americans died.
And it's you know all of us grieve that loss.
And send our thoughts and prayers to their families the victims families.
And we can't have that happen again and if you look at the broader perspective.
-- it is something that is.
Legitimate for -- to ask is what is this administration doing what is the State Department doing to secure our embassies around the world.
But again what our intelligence policies what are the policies for us as far as a global leader.
In that region of the world in the Middle East that continues.
Two undergo so much turmoil.
Let me switch gears -- Della -- has -- county in the last two years you have made at least fourteen school visits in your district.
You're going to go do one today making life work and I got a -- because of a problem at the school but tell me what is it what are you doing about education.
But it's true.
Greta I am very concerned and have made it a real passion.
And and have -- -- thing that I want to accomplice because it's such a pass and as a parent to make sure that we can address.
That every child in this country is given a chance to succeed that starts with education.
Are we we're gonna be a Patrick Henry charter school here in Richmond.
Today and unfortunately -- -- took place at the school hopefully we're gonna do that visit next week.
But it is just one of the many school visits that I've done not only here in Virginia about throughout the country.
To try and understand what we can do to help parents and their kids.
You know I met a woman in New Orleans her name -- -- -- she says her daughter goes to one of the charter schools.
Are one of the private schools in New Orleans and part of their choice system.
She says she do anything indicate that daughter there.
There's a gentleman in in our Washington DC news sun -- -- who couldn't have a chance and didn't at a public school in the District of Columbia was three grades.
Behind in terms of performance.
Went to a private -- to the DC opportunity scholarship program and has now succeeded is attending the University of the District of Columbia.
These stories abound.
We've got to as a country realized.
Though the building block of success of the abilities of people to broaden our and that success and seize opportunities starts with education and I'm hoping.
That over the next year and a half in congress we can affect some of these reform ideas so that we can actually help people.
Get about their life so that we can continue to see growth in our in our country and our economy.
What happened to our education system Wii's been number one in so many different areas now we've got parents -- -- just begging to get in the charter schools are being out of the public school system.
And it seems that we really have that data but what the world happened to our education system that all the sudden we have slipped down some below it could identify the -- at least I think Camilo easier to sort of fix if we know what happened.
While I think that sometimes and you know whenever you have sort of an establishment that sets then and whether it's that he.
You know of the government unions that the teachers are belonging to -- whether it is just the status quo mentality.
That you have to defend what is rather than try and and instill some disruptive change so we can actually see results.
We -- face with a a school system does not -- the needs.
So many kids and their families today.
And all of us would like to fix the entire system but I think you do that by helping one child at a time.
And the parents that I meet want more than any -- control over the choice of where their child is best put in terms of a classroom.
One -- one of the other areas -- is special needs you know I mean all of us know parents.
With special needs children whether it's autism or any other.
Condition that children.
May have we've got to help them if they're not at their knees are not being addressed by our local school system.
We should make put in place reforms that -- dollars to follow the kids so that parents can be empowered.
And the ones that know best are those parents so that that child will have a quality education.
Well it it turns out the ones where the lucky -- the ones who find the you know congress -- the funds or whatever to help them escape the existing public school system because it had been.
Did spend dreadfully failing to -- You know and now we're trying to help the kids and help the parent but it's to get away from the public schools and and I understand that and and I and I can understand that the parents -- the best for the children but.
What in the world happen -- these schools.
It is the real again I think -- -- is victim to.
Politics of of -- many states have teachers unions that have been opposing educational reform efforts I don't know if it's.
-- to all states on our state doesn't have teacher unions.
But that -- here in Virginia we don't have a thriving charter school system that's why wanted to go and I will go next week to this charter school Patrick -- charter school.
To look at the successes that they have had.
-- we have to just focus on results here and holding schools accountable -- school.
Principals and districts accountable.
Working with teachers and parents I think we can get there and we can turn a page and allow for that -- more.
Millions of school children across the country to have actually a look to a brighter future and it starts in the classroom.
I well I have to make that trip with you that next pick -- let's say the school and see -- -- what can be done because.
The children certainly need help across the country thank you sir nice start -- -- USC next week down there.
