And -- there are new concerns this morning that Russia and Iran and helping Syria and its fight against the rebels Syrian troops it turns out and used sophisticated technology.
Tactics on the battlefield according to analysts and they say all that help comes from -- man and his country.
-- -- as well as Moscow whole and attempt to try and keep Russia Al Asad in power will only hold out.
Joining us now is UN ambassador John Bolton former ambassador to the United Nations senior fellow at the American enterprise institute and Fox News contributor good morning ambassador.
Good morning Eric way to do it -- -- -- just not what Ahmadinejad and apparently Iran is helping aside to Russia is helping -- god and senators Dick John Kerry is telling them to stop it.
But is anyone listening.
Well they're not listening in Moscow and Tehran that's for sure obviously both Russia and Iran had been aiding -- side that during these hostilities over the last two years I think it's.
One of the main reasons aside stayed in power.
But within the last several months there seems to me to be little doubt but that Iran and Russia have both stepped up the quantity and quality of the assistance that they're providing more sophisticated.
Communications and targeting capabilities.
More financial assistance.
Bringing in Hezbollah which is a terrorist organization funded by Iran.
And now most significantly Russia re affirming it will sell a very sophisticated.
Air defense system known as the S 300.
To Syria when you combine that with sales of -- planes sales of anti ship.
Missiles and the deployment of over a dozen additional Russian warships.
To the Syrian area of the Mediterranean.
All speaks of a significant.
Russian commitment and a significant Iran -- commitment.
That keeping aside and now apparently -- -- Iranian drones that are -- and mortar units jamming equipment let's take a look at those -- 300 Russian missiles.
Man oh man if they are deployed what does that mean for a potential no fly zone that could be imposed by the west.
Well these these set missiles and.
Radars that comprise the S 300 not necessarily the most sophisticated Russia has but they are capable and most.
Analyst estimation of defeating any aircraft other than stealth aircraft.
Israel does not have stealth aircraft -- present obviously NATO forces the United States do.
But it dramatically escalates the sophistication.
That's available to Syria and potentially.
It has the line the buckeye valley in Lebanon to protect themselves so it's -- it's a signal militarily to Israel and the west it's also -- big political signal as well that -- really is all in here to keep the -- and power and and as such as those missiles the reports that they're gonna sell more mixed this area.
That really does complicate the situation.
Right and I I think it demonstrates Russia's not about to let aside -- -- while secretary of state Kerry has spent the last several months.
Persuading Russia to sponsor -- peace conference in Syria the Russians are doing everything they can to make sure that the peace conference.
Result is preordained namely that aside is not going to negotiate the stepped out of power I think that's been clear for a long time the Russians.
-- not share our interest in moving -- out there interest is diametrically the opposite of ours and Syria and that's why.
The Obama administration's effort to join with -- the last two and a half years has failed.
Meanwhile there's rather.
-- up bad that former British prime minister Tony Blair has written in the Daily Mail of London about -- Muslim religion about a sawed.
Claiming he's conducting ethnic cleansing look what that Tony Blair writes this morning.
He says there is not a problem with Islam there is a problem within Islam from the inheritance of an ideology that is -- -- within Islam.
And we have to put it on the table and be honest about it here as a world leader.
Coming out attacking violent extremist Islam.
Well I think he's a very courageous man I thought that for a long time and I think yeah I think he puts it very well.
And that passage you just read it's not a problem with is -- it's a problem within Islam.
And if you're not prepared to talk about it if you're not prepared to acknowledge the threat of radical islamists as.
And the terrorist ideology that they profess how -- you ever going to be able to analyze and defend against -- I think that's one of our biggest problems here.
People are afraid to to offend Muslims generally by talking about.
Islamic terrorism what it's Muslims generally who are the biggest victims of Islamic terrorism.
So I think get perhaps players courage in in the UK could be -- assemble here in the United States that we do need to put this on the table and talked about and we've seen the attacks in London -- -- the attacks in Boston of course finally what do we do about it.
Well I think that the idea that President Obama.
-- -- his National Defense University speech two weeks ago that the war on terror is basically over.
Is manifestly false it -- just flies in the face.
Of the evidence that's right in front -- and we need to put that on the table two were never got to prevail over the terrorists if we don't admit they exist.
Ambassador John Bolton thank you as always every Sunday for your insight good to -- thank you --
