Sort of long from.
-- let's recap in Afghanistan we're gonna negotiate with a regime that shielded the terrorists who were responsible for 9/11 and then in Syria -- an arm the next generation of terrorists.
Pretty incredible joining me now with reaction chairman of the house.
Intelligence committee Michigan congressman Mike Rogers congressman good to see you thanks meanwhile us.
Sean thanks for having me it's -- to be here IV of the Talabani is one of the most sadistic regimes in history with their enforcement -- -- for the Sharia law is this a -- -- I don't think so and there hasn't been much consultation with congress about -- reopening the office and cutter and then recognizing them.
Other than what we've read in the media which is concerning enough and think about -- -- This is an organization another Taliban -- closed in Afghanistan over the last few months over 500 children's school.
We can't have those kids getting educated and by the weight of the majority of those are girls schools.
The same organization that just a few weeks ago poisoned.
Girl's little girls going to school.
To prove the point that they didn't believe that girl should be able to get an education it's hard to understand why the president thinks.
That that is the right cause of action.
With no no preconditions about what that negotiation should even look like including by the way supporting girls' schools and then openness dialogue up.
I think it empowers all the wrong messages in Afghanistan.
That says hey the Americans are just punch it out -- we don't really care what happens to the women there were gonna negotiate.
So that we can check the box and go home I think this could be a stain on our national character if we don't get a handle on this early on I think he hit on something that's pretty important here and that is that we were -- -- given them a timetable.
Four are leaving here.
Does this not put us in a position of weakness in terms of any negotiating power we might have.
Listen when you tell them what you're gonna do when you're gonna leave you've absolutely empowered those who are seeking to do you harm.
And we see that I'm the -- intelligence committee you can see what the Taliban is doing to react to that we can see what al-Qaeda is doing.
In reaction to that including Sean talking about re claiming certain parts of Afghanistan.
Because they believe that the focus now all the command energy of our military is how do we leave.
Not how do we make sure we win this fight so you have Taliban resurgent clearly a problem and you have al-Qaeda talking about.
Re claiming swathes of territory in Afghanistan really why that's important Sean.
-- remember they had that safe haven in Afghanistan that's where they planned the 9/11 events.
That's what's so concerning about what our policy is here it doesn't seem to be.
Connected with the reality on the ground.
Have we all ought to be concerned about that are that anyone could have compassion in Syria for that they humanitarian crisis you've got eighty to a 100000 people killed -- up four million people displaced.
Quarter of the people the rebels that we would be -- are they not -- not connected to al-Qaeda.
Well hey here's the problem -- that is a bad situation getting worse.
And I think the president by trying to believe that that was just gonna go away on its own has has really created quite a problem here.
She had every flavor of terrorists in the world now seems to be there are congregating.
In Syria and they all want the chemical weapons they all want the advanced.
-- conventional weapons anti aircraft weapons and those kinds of things.
-- so what's concerning here is that we don't see a comprehensive plan being presented by the administration.
On how this would unfold and what America is end game and that's important the end game is.
I do believe Sean we've got to find some friends there.
Or were going to be in real trouble if if and when the Asad regime falls and the mad scramble from some really bad actors that would threaten Israel Southern Europe.
The whole region with conventional -- sophisticated conventional weapons.
And chemical weapons but the problem -- we just.
Haven't seen a plan yet that would allow at least me to come to a comfort level.
That were on the right track I'm willing to make hard -- tough decisions but it has to be in America's interest and it has to be very Smart and long thought out I just haven't seen that part yet.
Are women newly elected president in Iran let me ask you about him I've looked back over his history was there -- -- late seventies and early eighties with the Ayatollah Khomeini.
He was more of my involved in the -- -- -- suppression of protesters back in 1999 -- invading.
Nuclear inspections -- -- about Obama says that.
He's believes that there's a week but there is a willingness to improve ties.
To the United States is is that some.
Can you believe.
Boy I you know this was not an election it was a selection the the supreme leader still picks the candidates that can actually run for office.
And I doubt he's got to pick somebody to run for office.
That is adamantly opposed to his views and I can listen that if it's the right narrative it's a great PR thing for Iran.
They continue to develop nuclear.
Clearly there on that path.
There also aiding and abetting.
The strife that's in Syria.
Do we know that they've killed some 600 at least contributed to the depth of 600 US servicemen.
Men and women in Iraq so they're committing problems all across -- they the whole Middle East.
There are rising up this -- vs Sunni to their own best interest in places like Syria and other places.
They are creating huge problems right now I can't find any redeeming quality in this individual that would allow us to come to the conclusion.
That they aren't bad actors creating lots of problems not only for Americans interest but for the Middle East and our European allies as well.
This is a dangerous state.
That is getting more -- and more aggressive I have seen no comments by this particular elected leader.
That would say that anything has really changed yet I congressman thanks for an update on that appreciate it.
Finish -- and coming up next.
