We'll see -- hearing is just wrapping up in the George Zimmerman murder case this one day after an all female jury was selected.
To decide to Florida man's fate in the death of teenager chain on -- -- attorney says that his client is encouraged.
By this decision.
-- in waiting 1516.
To clear his name.
And now we get to start so that's real -- so I think.
You know he's happy that we got the jury in place if that's rather than this process that you guys have been so patient for that we have to do now that's done and we can move forward to.
-- the real stuff the evidence and you know.
He's in these trials folks -- -- gets under way I'm joined now by Marla to -- a criminal defense attorney and Jeffrey gold.
Former prosecutor welcome good to have both of you with us today -- let me start with you.
What do you think of this panel.
-- and command line problem with Marla.
Very out area condemn my dad you're my question OK as Sam you know I -- -- like this panel and you agree.
That it's good for George Zimmermann this -- -- Absolutely I think that women will find that.
What he did it was more reason -- they send me more sympathetic to you.
Violence and self defense I think women have a different view point that can be beneficial for the defense in this k.'s main.
I'm more aggressive and they may think why didn't following him or why it was as mean walking out -- -- -- The women have a different perspective of walking a land being a -- bearing arms so I think it's definitely encouraging for the defense -- this.
-- had Jeff it's so hard -- I had to read a jury I mean I went through the descriptions of these jurors and you know they do seem to be.
A fairly educated group there's a number of moms -- among this group.
But you know when when I I have had the experience of being on the Jerry and I feel like people are very good at taking this process seriously.
They've listened to the evidence and and I think it's very difficult to tell just looking at these descriptions which way this jury -- -- out.
Well I think you're right mark I mean this is a particularly hard case I think that if you just listen to your viewers you'll find that there are so many people entrenched.
That think they're going in one -- they may be coming out exactly the same way can the jury however be fair and impartial that's what we'll have to see I tend to agree with you.
And there are five moms I believe on this jury and we have a seventeen year old victim here.
And I think although -- some gun toting -- women on the jury the fact that their moms -- balance that out and so I'm very hopeful that they can be fair and.
Impartial reacted does it matter that there are no African American jurors.
We understand -- five -- white -- is -- Hispanic woman mile up it is that significant.
And he -- that sleeping this case brings up a lot of racial tensions so when you pick a jury tend to see why it's gonna benefit you and what are the problems.
Have your keys in this keys is about race unfortunately and -- about.
Reasonable honest and self defense so they.
The lawyers look to see what is going to benefit their case their positions what people that they would think would be more like minded.
For those issues and I think -- in this key is to have mostly white.
People want as jurors is something that the prosecution me need to think about in regards to you playing -- whether there is racial tension and.
You know it when you think about this whole situation -- I mean -- -- Martin is not there to tell his side of the story.
And there are pictures of George Zimmerman out with injuries to the back of his head which would appear to line up with some of what he said.
Happened that night and then you've got this tape with the screen -- on it.
That the experts say there's no way to figure out who was screaming and boy wouldn't that be helpful that would have been very -- -- Well let's let's let's hold this down for the -- which I think there's two important facts.
From the one point of view the State's point of view we all know that Georgia remain.
Was told by the 911 operator to stand down and he didn't do that that's the worst thing for them on the other hand the autopsy seems to indicate.
Betrayed -- Martin was on top of George -- remained when the gun went off that's obviously a factor of the other way so there's two things that are competing in the whole case is gonna come down to Georgia Rubin's testimony should he testified.
As to how this happened how big -- by -- attack him such that it was reasonable for him to use deadly force that's what this case will come down to.
-- eight you know it what do you think who is -- the case comes down to ultimately.
Yes ultimately these six women are gonna have to determine what George -- and men did was a reasonable or not they have to determine -- him being.
-- nine on the ground -- on top of them if he can shoot.
And use deadly force and -- that was reasonable that threat does not to be real mark they can be something that.
George -- thought was going to be deadly to them so these women are gonna really have to.
Kind of get into the minds of both mr.
-- and fortunately mr.
Martin who can't tell his -- of the story.
It's an emotional -- -- around and it gets under way very soon thank you so much both -- you could have here.
