Why it would leave representing the taxpayers we represented.
Gives you all this extra money you are asking for if this is what the -- is doing with hard earned taxpayer dollars.
We are seeing just in two months waste fraud abuse and taxpayer targeting and you're saying give us another billion dollars why should we do that.
If we under fund other critical her priorities that lead to improved taxpayer service.
And improved enforcement of the tax code and we're leaving dollars on the table for the American people is that every dollar Stein and I think -- today.
As a positive -- don't forget you worked for the taxpayers not the other way around.
-- -- Paul Ryan going to head to head with IRS team Danny were full.
Now we spoke with congressman Ryan right after that contentious hearing.
After -- Caesar great to be back with humor.
Big day today here rain and be ahead of the IRS was their -- ever before house ways and means.
Let's take what would -- get.
Well a couple of things number one.
We know that some progressive words or names of groups were on the filter.
But their applications were approved and they were not singled out for the kind of harassment and intimidation and delays.
That the IRS placed against the conservative groups so we got to the bottom of that one the other thing we learned is they had don't have answers all these questions.
And the other part was.
We have the IRS coming here to congress asking for an additional billion dollars about a 10% increase they're asking us to give -- money to hire another 4500 people.
After we've just uncovered in just about two months all of this waste all of this fraud -- all of this abuse of.
Today's weather how do you not know if you're at the IRS now did not know how it happened it's just not that cockpit I've been in Washington and that -- you can -- learn things pretty quickly if you really want to.
Secondly in the -- -- -- how in the world you come after all the stuff that's come out about the IRS all the targeting and all the parties.
How do you have of golf to ask for a billion dollars more from the taxpayers some -- to question the look first of all that in the first question good question how do -- not know what happened who was responsible who asked for it.
They won't answer those questions they claim they -- on the incidents.
How can -- not so we believe happened in nine.
-- the right to the point is we're gonna get to the bottom of it you know.
We're not gonna set these answers it's not good enough that's why are investigators are interviewing IRS employees opened on the food chain.
And we're getting emails and we're getting data and -- -- to this -- gonna go through this very thoroughly.
Take a look at the 49 dollars they spent over two years on these conferences on these parties on the catering in the videos.
You know I just ran -- -- numbers -- Thomas started in Wisconsin little less than 7000 people.
How people working at factories -- -- -- and in farm fields these working families work all year long.
To pay their taxes and it wasn't even enough to cover these conferences.
To -- tried to impress on -- people the IRS's.
And it's how we talk about millions and billions and trillions.
It's actually hard working taxpayer dollars and around here they seem to think money grows on trees.
-- -- waste and spend with reckless abandon and they're losing sight of the fact that this money.
Comes from a person's paycheck it comes from a family that is -- but you know -- on the table.
Get vacation for their kids.
Get their family growing then they're paying their taxes to the IRS and then the I -- wastes it and I don't think they think about that when they spend all this money.
I have to wonder if the media somewhat complicit in that home -- culture.
Because the media refers to of the waste of fifty million dollars over a two year period of time two years -- talking about -- and what they spent on the other years accounted.
They call that chump change because I suppose in a grand scheme of things we're talking billions and trillions it's chump change.
But when you but it really isn't since he has at the media thinks it media served as dismissive sometimes about that.
-- Little Rock coming Wisconsin we have two towns Janesville -- but a 160000 people in the accounting.
The money the increases -- they're asking for our taxpayers all the working families in that county that I come from wouldn't be enough.
To cover that increases spending their asking for that's basically saying we're asking everybody in rock county Wisconsin 160000 people.
These working families to pay all their federal taxes so we can spend it on an increase in the IRS with what they're not looking at is that the Harvard and taxpayers are actually.
Paying this money working for this money.
And that's we're trying to impress on these folks and I got tight we are not going to give them the spending increase we're not gonna give them.
All of these additional hire us employees -- -- asking for especially since they continually waste this money.
What I asked Santa with all due respect to congress is that that -- of the job of oversight short time but years and years and years just unbelievable spending by the IRS on his -- to simulate party to make it work here in -- you know the parties.
Is it wears you oversight -- congress.
Well I mean.
Quite frankly we -- we have kept the budget a bit flat the last two years we took over congress between ten when we took over congress in points and we started putting these budgets down we started cutting spending.
-- -- -- -- remember Nancy Pelosi controlled congress from 2008 to 2010 when they had bigger budgets so we sort of cutting their spending which are doing this oversight.
The reason we know all of these things we now know is because congress over the last two years has been doing oversight.
The reason you know about the IRS -- because congress had inspector general do the study.
The reason we nobody's waste these wasteful dollars because congress.
Did this oversight and -- covered this but we had to get the majority in 2010 start doing that and this is a result of two years of work that we've already put into this.
Not once and they can't commit -- harsh about this but it has now gotten so out of control I think -- I think.
I think people knew that they should spend money this thing you don't even have a Wolfgang Puck -- chef at a an IRS compliment and the and the -- replete with the way money is used to and targeting knowledge is.
You can't present evidence of grand jury to see whether -- -- the criminal violations the choice is either the attorney general the United States does it.
Or this a special prosecutor so far haven't seen -- huge appetite on the part of the regional may -- has but.
Are you if they -- a special prosecutor if so when.
Not yet I think there may -- -- a time for that.
The reason I don't I -- not yet is because I want congress to do its job to do its oversight.
We owe our constituents the hardworking taxpayers who pay these taxes.
That we're going to get to the bottom of this that we're gonna hold these people accountable we're -- -- some transparency and accountability to this agency -- the Russian government.
Then after we've completed this investigation which we're just in the beginning stages enough.
And we come up with evidence of criminal -- doing that to -- is the appropriate time.
To then turn over the authorities have a press special prosecutor who can take to the criminal stage but I don't want to preempt.
A congressional investigation.
To get to the bottom of this so that we can show our constituents the people of this country.
Just what happened and and so that they have transparency that to me would be premature to do it now because they need sweep it off.
Off the table and they get this prosecuted offer a couple of years and we would never get to the bottom of -- for a long time we wanna get to the bottom of it would want -- delegate.
The constitutional authority we have to do oversight over the executive branch then if and when we find criminal activity and often look the question that what's so give it time to when is this gonna happen and we don't want that.
We think it's going to be months we're just still getting data so we don't.
We have lots of dead and -- -- through I mean gigabytes of information of emails.
That our investigators are pointers so I don't wanna put time on -- because we still haven't gotten all of that evidence of the data were looking for.
Meanwhile the American people are not -- garrison are getting notices from the IRS in the northern and those are out of joint quite justifiably but yes I -- which not a question tax reform senator Orrin hatch and senator baucus bipartisan Senate Finance Committee by -- and I underline that.
There that they've just sent a letter today to their colleagues about their idea on tax form bipartisan tax upon their senses I understand.
Gonna scrapped the code essentially and then tell all their colleagues and they've got between now and the end of July.
To come up would justify any credits or deductions or loopholes and it hit him up -- -- code.
Is that something that is attractive to the house yes.
So this could happen.
Yes so we're going on the same process in the house Ways and Means Committee.
I serve on this committee is well and so we have bipartisan working groups on all areas of the tax code in our operating assumption we're starting with.
Blank white piece of paper and then we have to justify.
With through these bipartisan working groups what should go back into the tax code as we rebuild the tax code this does kind of the IRS issue.
If you want the IRS to be this discriminatory this targeting to be right for this kind of waste fraud abuse they need -- really complicated tax code.
If you want -- clean up the IRS if you want to simplify this agency make it work for us the taxpayers again you need to simplify the tax system.
That's one of the great reasons why we need to do -- -- in addition to creating jobs.
And -- -- -- just IRS wants to create jobs as they asked him for 4500.
Jobs I take it that's not for party planners and we're just trying to secure our thoughts are what what's what does it -- that today did that tell you did the committee to tell you why he needs 4500.
New IRS employees he did not he did not justify any did actually acknowledge that they can cut spending.
So I what I don't even ask you for 4000 I don't think does have a reason that they -- should say what you need that was floor with -- points.
The they don't and they don't have a good justification for all -- actually they're asking for all these extra people.
Because if you can't justify the way you're spending taxpayer dollars now.
How on earth can you justify asking for more what is -- about that too -- place so far taken the fifth.
Well I guess that that's a constitutional right we'll still get to the bottom of the last -- thank you -- you -- thanks for advertisement to happen.
