Bring his storytelling talent to the book world now with a brand new novel called out of range full disclosure -- of a longtime friend good to see -- -- It's great to see to erect a -- are about halfway through the book.
Fun read tell me what sparked the idea what sparked the story.
Well I think it must've come out of my without a Trace days I think I have that in my DNA and I was always interested in.
Doing a new kind of thriller.
That kind of combined.
Domestic story a story of a husband and a wife.
That then kind of -- Hitchcock -- -- -- it expands on to a much.
Larger canvas that and and that's what happens in the story it -- -- becoming story that has an international intrigue and espionage but it starts in a very.
Small domestic harrowing.
Kidnapping of the wife and and our hero -- finds out that she's been keeping secrets from him.
And and then if he finds that the world he's entering into indoor try to find -- keep getting bigger and bigger and I like the idea of cup combining -- kind of -- -- and -- domestic setting with John look at ray international.
This is a book that folks who love that -- -- are gonna love.
Out of range and there's a real mix here we mention it's a novel but.
Is a lot of fact mixed in with the fiction why did you decide to tell your story on the backdrop of of actual events.
Well the hero is Charlie Davis who's you know intrepid.
War correspondent international journalists who -- the darkest corners of the world and tries to uncover the truth that.
In other people don't want to talk about so I felt since he's my hero.
I wanted to ground the story in in real things that are going on in the world and and ultimately it touches on the war on terror.
And you know so I was able to find an area that.
That is really not report on very much which -- -- area but if it was Pakistan which borders on Afghanistan.
And you know we have.
And military base there we launch operations to Afghanistan from and you know it it is a hotbed.
Of -- of activity there there's some Muslim extremists there is also some you know civil war and infighting.
So I thought that was -- that you know going to be really fertile area to kind of explore some of those issues but in a new region that people don't really talk about very much.
Without giving too much away I know your planning this.
As sort of a series of novels all focused on Charlie Davis and you've also got a new TV show that -- working on for T and see that folks will be able to find next summer tells about that.
-- well I love this character Charlie Davis because.
He's the he's an every man you can really root for relate to but he's also kind of got this Indiana Jones -- -- him where he's an adventurous and he's a former football player so he's physical he's Atlantic.
And I think that's a really you know great character that people are gonna wanna follow.
-- a series of books so hopefully.
It'll really catch on and I'll be able to keep those going.
As far as the TV show it's called the last ship it'll be on TNT.
Next summer it's big Michael Bay.
Production and and it's about.
-- navy ship of of survivors who have survived after a global pandemic who are who may be a left people on -- alive.
