Was denied that's because the city ever hope with the Delaware says.
Prayer on that public beach might violate the separation of church and state.
Now that pastors drawing a line in the sand he's headlining a fourth of July freedom rally on that beach instead tomorrow after Robert Decker is my guest today good morning to pastor.
Good morning Gretchen -- so there is silver lining here but only for short term you wanted to hold.
Some Sunday services over the summer -- -- hope with beach and did you think there was going to be any problem with that.
Basically we have a beautiful beach down there the -- -- and everybody wants to come that's why we end up having to service is down there.
And I was excited at the possibility of doing -- services for the people at the beach at the bandstand.
So we went to the proper channels because the facilities -- great.
And -- city manager indicated that he cannot do it because it's a violation of scouts church and state.
And that's that created.
I'm real real problem for me because.
You know my calling as a pastors to communicate the gospel by word and by the -- -- ourselves to our neighbors into the world so that the wonders of the gospel might be known by folks so.
It's really uncomfortable -- to be.
To be quieted and say we can't do it and one other thing that's really interesting which may not know.
And I should go to the beach and see it there is a plaque right there where we're gonna have the freedom rally which talks about an eighteen.
Right after the civil war.
They established the community there in -- -- and renamed it the -- -- as a permanent Christian camp a resort community.
That would really promote christianity so it seems very ironic.
That we're not even able to have the public services there in the summer.
-- interest and so here's the quote from -- hope the city manager Greg for -- I'm so sorry to inform you that I cannot grant your request to have church services on the public beach.
In republic I cannot mix church.
And state it's interesting pastor because I know other beaches in a Delaware New Jersey and -- and possibly Pennsylvania I know in in my home town in Connecticut.
I'd go to the beach to to my church services so why do some cities allow it and republic beach will not.
Well I'm not quite certain as to why that policy was established in -- -- city manager.
But I don't think it's a good policy and since I've only been happen in of the Republican area for about two years -- the new pastor new covenant church and that we we.
As I was preaching about the such Odeh was influenced by this movie last ounce of courage to -- show.
Which has a similar story line and at the end it -- you have any courage.
And one of the yet church members of person that was attending came up to -- -- -- pastor what you preach on July 4.
And I had pray about that for a little while an innocent of course out for each other and that's what that's called me to do so we're gonna freedom rally.
On July 4 at 9:30 in the morning anybody would like to come and they do it out at the beach so you don't have to get dressed up with fancy things and that we want to celebrate the 200 and 37 birthday of our country I I understand freedom is important because my dad was an immigrant and he didn't -- it he didn't -- to prevent it.
