Butter cup born in -- Tennessee high school biology lab with a bum foot.
But thanks to three printing technology and one very determined engineer butter cup is back on his feet this morning and ready.
-- live a normal life for him to walk for us on -- He's on camera shy this morning Mike Gary is a man who created butter cups what he joins me now from Nashville alongside butter cup the -- Mike nice to see you this morning.
Good morning Harry I'm doing well -- -- -- come to an easy camera shy.
Not at all he's a camera hog a good we'll get him that perform for us -- a little bit here but first tell us about what happened when he was Warner what was his deformity like and why did it inhibit his ability to walk.
Via he was he attacks with a deformed left foot it was basically turned backwards and kind of watered.
If you think of it like taking your hand kind of taken like your hand and turn it back hurts and so he was kind of walking on the back side.
Of his foot and -- -- some initial cash being in things like that to try to.
Turnaround but you know just too too big of a deformity so -- Little girl heading camping for a couple months to get big and I were living in the Condo.
And she contacted our sanctuary found us on the Internet and ask us you know we would be willing to -- butter cup -- -- Giving -- home and that's kind of where we started from.
And then back in February of that had to amputate his foot is that right.
Right in the very first step was to -- with our veterinarian about you know.
What we need to do for his health and the first thing needed was to remove his foot because a -- with a peg leg is much better.
-- formed foot because a lot of his tendons are twisted and and his hipster kind of twisted -- -- -- anyway so -- some other deformities.
You know that go along with the foot.
So that you began you said -- computer that was some 3-D software.
Began to do what.
Right while he was healing from that I had the idea what was lacking ideas create a foot on the software engineer and build things and Wheldon and so I just came up with the idea that surely Jack and Indy -- -- -- and so -- But just kind of thought out of the box and said you know ideally what I like to -- is another -- foot.
Since we have a sanctuary with a lot of other ducks then -- -- our ability to create a foot just -- one of my other dogs was already familiar with three -- As a hobby level -- now -- and 3-D modeling and can.
And so I literally took images of one of -- -- ducks charter with a camera went all the way around 360 degrees around her left foot.
And then used auto disk auto cats which are free software package you upload all of those images in the net returns -- -- -- To get this and really well on his foot and there it is there's a gross up of that.
Of that foot the actual foot that you were able to just design and with 3-D model printing which is the future folks put away.
We see this with other body parts of the jaw implants -- human beings we've seen that we actually -- -- demo on our show before so.
Now -- that's what attached.
Is butter cup house -- a couple walking will he walk for us.
He will walk force.
The final -- is made of your thing rubber.
The Brady printing was an intermediate process that was done by -- copy volunteered their services to me.
But the final -- has a sock in it that.
That is stretching it takes to his leg and down its rubber -- so it won't care you can see kind of how -- -- in.
His -- muscles are not adjusted yet because it's just finish Sunday.
So -- -- all BL -- C and walk.
-- -- that up art this -- buddy and volunteer -- -- is -- Nashville hit songwriter and he volunteers are sanctuary is helping us today.
Primerica -- -- -- but a couple of loose Teddy bear in my -- How long -- can actually doesn't really good like in the grass and outside.
Like to say he's walking only feel right now because it will take its muscles -- -- Two to get accustomed to the different positioning because his leg now is the correct link.
Before us or so that's what he's doing really good -- table as a veteran who was doing before and thanks to 3-D traditionally incredible thing absolutely Mike here we appreciate you joining us this morning from feathered angels water fell sanctuary.
Down there in Nashville thanks so much that.
