This is Fox News coverage of a plane crash.
In San Francisco at San Francisco International Airport on Gregg Jarrett in New York there you see.
Part of the debris field from.
And AG and a airline flight eight Boeing 777.
That began in Seoul South Korea.
And its destination San Francisco International Airport it happened and about 11:20 this morning win this jet liner.
Crash landed it was in the process of landing.
And according to a witness who spoke with Katie do you channel two in San Francisco the witness said the tail of the plane.
Came off before the plane which had its landing gear down touchdown.
On the runway now.
Begin to land.
-- you you approached the runway over water and it looks like some of the debris field is in the water so it may be the case that the plane began to break up.
Literally just moments before it touched down.
It looks as though the landing gear is collapsed this witness said that the plane's tail came off.
That the plane then skidded along the runway and flipped over.
But there you see the plane is actually on its belly came to a rest adjacent to the runway.
And there you see an enormous part of the plane on the top side where the passengers would be sitting is open to the air burned out.
Fire retardant around the perimeter of the plane and the tail section.
That's where the -- should be the -- and the elevator.
All gone it's missing.
Which seems consistent with the one eyewitness we don't know how many people.
All were on board this particular plane -- Boeing 77 can carry.
314 to 451.
Passengers depending upon which model -- is.
We don't know which model it is in there you see on the runway.
Three parts of the plane.
Not too far from the body of that plan.
And we do have some information coming from the FAA at this point this is from the Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown she said that this Boeing 777.
Was supposed to land on runway 28 left.
At this airport.
San Francisco International Airport she said the sequence of events this according to the FAA still unclear but it appeared the plane -- didn't.
And then crashed.
Once again we -- getting a lot of reports from eyewitnesses.
Who saw this happened around 11:30 AM San Francisco time.
Who said that detail land of the plane came off the crew did landing here.
Went down and the plane it.
Crashed wobbled -- crashed onto.
It's side we can see from the video there that at least -- one emergency -- was able to deploy that significant burn damage.
Across the top portion of this -- -- and now joining us on the phone is Scott Brenner he is a former senior FAA official.
Scott thank you for joining us are you looking at the same pictures that we're seeing here.
-- -- And it in terms of your experience.
What do you think happened to this plane and perhaps more importantly at this hour the passengers who were on board.
Yeah I think most importantly I think will that the most important thing we can learn from it is listed here -- -- -- when you are on an aircraft.
It seemed like the flight -- did exactly what they were exposed you.
Getting everybody off this aircraft before it really catch on fire from everything I've heard everybody got off the plane safely and that it is a miracle and it.
That's really knew her anywhere where you -- hearing that.
Just from program TARP and -- and -- these FAA officials.
They're they're just official I I don't want it.
Speculate -- I don't want eloquently that whoever it.
Is it really I mean you regarded as reliable information I -- I -- and you're learning here everybody got off.
Yes but again this is all early information with those statements that.
Have you been told how many people wore on board this plane and had even told anything about injuries at all because we did have initial reports and there were some passengers.
Suffering from burn injuries.
No I've not gotten anything on -- on the on the injury or company passengers.
I just it was a informed that everybody -- -- state -- Well that is just stunning given the wreckage that we are looking at the end the description by at least one eyewitnesses of what happened.
If he ever heard of -- the -- coming off a plane is its landing.
No I have not men and I would also caution viewers bad early eyewitness reports are frequently wrong.
Just because people are really they don't really understand what they're watching or they're not prepared this is what they're going to -- But if you look at that debris field.
That seems like I -- all the if it detailed came -- the -- it would not be moving forward down the runways we see you.
But it's also curious that if they've been met this aircraft was.
Was scheduled to land at a different runway and then it being that it -- it -- the -- I went and Scott what do you mean it's that -- of the plane came off.
It wouldn't repeat what you -- because I mean we saw the tail of the plane did come off.
No correct but it is it is -- it is unclear if it it's still came off.
Fired -- the brand or before the -- act.
Okay Scott Ritter thank you very much we've got out -- Appreciate it.
