And now we're going to go back to our coverage of this George Zimmerman verdict and -- action to that on the Sunday -- on Martin's family is reacting to the verdict of not guilty.
And we are joined now by -- Ran an attorney for the Martin family -- thank you for being with us this evening.
Thank you for having me I know that it was not the verdict the family wanted what.
Is it closure for them.
I wouldn't say that -- closure the family it's very sad today we're obviously this car and at some level but I think more than anything.
We're hopeful were inspired by the words of President Obama were inspired by the love and support.
-- we've literally gotten from all over the world I've had calls from Morocco to London from Jamaica.
I get emails from almost every major network -- -- that they are praying for the family and that they're standing with us and I'm hopeful that we can continue to make good progress.
In our nation I think we saw a lot of good come from this case.
We -- black people white people brown people Christians and Muslims Republicans and Democrats all you night.
But a common cause of trying to bring some justice for the death of trade on Martin.
You know there's been a lot of talk and protests today against the chosen jury some of it has been an end the demonstrations for the vast majority have been peaceful.
But specifically people calling the trial in their opinion not a fair one.
Because it was six women five of them Caucasian one Hispanic they would want a different jury in this case.
In fact I spoke with reverend Jack and Jesse Jackson earlier let's watch that together he says it was not fair -- wanna get your thoughts let's watch.
I think that is in the -- recovery and this boy was killed by most of -- -- You walkway before the four days that would lead one to try and met them not him protest he came in the court out out on the Muster -- before the -- there's a protest.
-- and that leaves a very bad taste in people's mouth.
Is stabbed -- judicial system is this an obviously injured and justice.
You know and just let the -- that I pressed the reverend -- know.
As Americans this is the justices on the system that works for us that this is the one that we.
Live under this is just that's the jury of our peers and this is their verdict here fought.
I don't know that says the deficit -- Always -- justice for each and every single one of us and I don't know that this was a fair and impartial trial from the very beginning and I keep taking it back to.
Sanford police department and their failure to arrest George Zimmerman he was allowed to walk away of a lot of evidence that night.
You know they created a very uphill battle for the prosecution from that point and I'm not going to opine as to what was in the jurors' heads.
But I will say that I don't know that jet that that save on mark.
Where does the Martin family go from here I'm reading that the possibility of a civil lawsuit seeking damages from George Zimmerman.
There's always the possibility of a civil lawsuit but I don't think that that's -- -- every time to talk about it now.
Yet -- family is is part -- in prayer remaining hopeful and the most important -- us.
But this for us right now as their legal team and for the Martin family is to make sure that this does not happen to another child.
-- last legal question for you -- the Department of Justice today said that it is evaluating the case for evidence of civil rights violations if they don't find -- Like a previous investigation did not.
What all the family -- The family will accept their decision but that doesn't mean that we will continue to consciously of -- To the decisions and I mean that we will do that in a peaceful manner and to the extent that we can't possible and I will say this.
I think the defense played an excellent foundation.
For the finding a civil rights violations their entire argument seem to stem.
From racial profiling him with a defense that brought race into this issue when the last witness they place upon a -- that it was okay for George -- to kill trade on Martin because.
We had a black neighbor break into our house for -- and that's not right.
We don't look at every white man in this country after we have here Rory Illinois shooting after we have the new town Connecticut shooting it after we have the Boston Marathon bombing and look at them as a threat a danger and a mass -- So why would we look at -- on -- anything last -- an equal human being.
Well I don't know if this is the appropriate time to go toe to toe with you on where the racial bias discussion came up in this trial but I would remind you that prosecutors leaned on that pretty hard trying to guess what was in the heart.
At George Zimmerman as tipping point for all of this.
Jasmine -- we appreciate your time you're representing the family and you say you're getting prayers from all over the country -- our best.
That family is they have suffered the loss of child thank you.
