Welcome back to on the -- joining me now criminal defense attorney to camera -- a good to see a camera.
Good to see you festival you have this piece that will be up on foxnews.com opinion.
-- tests saying that this is more than just race what exactly do you mean by that.
Well I find it really interesting that we have these civil rights leaders who are our.
So angry because this is a racial issue this is a black vs white verdict.
And part of civil rights is not just race based it's also gender based and I'm not some screaming about -- minister anything of the sort.
But isn't it and -- say this is an all woman jury.
And and the same people who fight for the rights of blacks are not fighting for the rights of women and their verdict and this is it it it's.
It's a steamy I think it's it's a a form of discrimination in -- of itself.
And it doesn't seem like anybody is looking at that doesn't seem like anybody standing up for the women of this jury forget black -- -- Women came together on this jury -- there -- no there's no evidence of any kind of misconduct.
None of the alternates -- men and took anybody's place.
And and that should be respected.
Then and then -- -- the verdict.
Like it or not.
It should be respected because that is our justice system and generally speaking it looks pretty well justices.
Right and there some thing at very famous phrase death before dishonor me and unfortunately we saw I -- that shouldn't have occurred for many reasons.
But we have six women who held up their hand took an oath to listen to the evidence that was presented to them with in the four corners of the courtroom.
And make a decision and that's what they did they honored our judicial system.
-- would you agree with most of the analysts we've been talking to here that legally speaking it.
From what you hood all of the evidence that verdict -- the only one that they could reach.
I think south.
I'm not a fan of George Zimmerman.
I think that if I saw guy in my neighborhood with a gun like that I tell my children.
There's like a wild cowboy in the -- I didn't.
At the same time the evidence was just not there to convict and a -- going back to the four corners of the courtroom.
Unfortunately if you're going to make this an issue of any kind of -- Race.
It has nothing against George Zimmerman behavior as much as it does the police and their failure to investigate properly.
It interesting we just don't wood from the white has -- -- the White House spokesman.
Saying that President Obama will not involve himself in decisions now to be taken by the Justice Department on whether to -- -- civil rights charges.
Against George Zimmerman White House spokesman -- Connie according to the reporting of the Associated Press just coming through says it would be inappropriate for Obama to express an opinion.
On how that -- prominent deals -- Zimmerman.
Off to the neighborhood watch volunteers acquittal as we know I in the shooting of the unarmed at seventeen year old justice -- -- of course it's considering.
Whether federal prosecutor should file criminal civil rights charges and we're expecting to hear a statement on that.
From attorney general Eric Holder who is shortly ago to make a speech in DC you see the room that I'm not -- look as though it's exactly ready.
For the attorney general to come at any second.
So we probably won't get it live in this -- -- but tell you will hear about everything that he says of course.
As soon as he says it across the Fox News platforms camera you -- the judge was here earlier.
Saying there's no civil rights case here for the DOJ you don't necessarily agree one no.
I was looking at some recent cases and of course I think a lot of people know about the Matthew Shepard and -- -- hate crime prevention act from 2009.
And -- the judicial -- the Justice Department can't prosecute individual -- says unlike what Alan Dershowitz said last night on Huckabee.
It's not just -- civil rights cases aren't just against police or against corporations for -- certain behavior it can be against a certain individual.
And just recently.
A man pled guilty to a hate crime.
In the Justice Department.
Four for attacking a a man -- Sheikh who he believed to be a Muslim because of his tour event.
I don't think that we -- anything at the trial that makes that Justice Department.
That sends a red flag to the Justice Department that they should prosecute George Zimmerman but they definitely have the authority to do so and only valid -- Do you think that they should all from -- you know.
Do you believe that day is a potential at least case for the DOJ to pursue.
Well I'm one of for one reason a lot of the phone calls the -- that -- -- -- he was.
Certainly aimed at -- our focus on black man.
And so it seems to me that there is the possibility based on certain things that didn't come out at trial that the DOJ can see.
That may be he had.
A fear of black men or any person that's a black person he thinks is automatically criminal just like this man mr.
-- anybody wearing a turban is automatically terrorist.
So I -- I don't personally agree that that they should pursue it but that's they're looking at.
And it's so -- -- V.
The attorney general as we understand it will simply for the for the moment at least.
Confirm that an investigation is ongoing as they as they announced.
In the spring.
That's the right way for they have a duty a -- to investigate whether.
There -- there's nothing wrong with them looking into.
And that's what they have a duty to do.
Right and I think it's unfortunate that.
Both sides are are making this.
-- -- -- When there's also the judicial aspect of -- that we have to -- -- whether it's the jury's decision.
Whether it's an investigation and that closes I mean.
I can't imagine what's going to happen if you OJ says no we're not pursuing -- we we saw the case we saw the facts and we're not going to pursue a hate crime.
Again now it's going to be and other racial issue.
-- even though we have a black attorney general.
It's unfortunate that we don't respect each other in this society and respect the decisions with in the judicial.
Process then and the Justice Department.
All right camera -- a criminal defense attorney great -- to as always and as I was saying cameras peace will be.
