Everybody -- believe this is -- did friends this hour Martha MacCallum go over to England and London.
Waiting for a baby be born a royal baby to be bored he'll be joining us Bill Hemmer fresh off America's Newsroom as you know tradition would have it.
Fresh off his show he goes and takes a quick shower and comes in with a robe and slippers and reflects back to what he accomplished over the last few hours.
You're on our show where he gets a chance to really give us an idea of what he thinks -- talk about the latest on the Georgia -- trial.
Trial that I found.
-- was watching by did not find it compelling and the fact is it seems like everyone's pushing to make it's a race situation.
More there actually is and we'll discuss that as well as that the terrible decision Rolling Stone has to put on one of the Boston bombers on the cover.
In -- new model like photo.
And gave a description of what led up to his blowing up.
Of innocent people who want to watch or contribute.
To a marathon.
Over thirty people lose limbs over 200 people -- wounded.
Three people lose their lives and they're making one of the bombers who blew them up the Euro is disgusting.
Act -- to tweet that -- what's going on there.
What a great things about the shows we can expand it.
We can talk about what's going on sports and talk about what's going on entertainment and wanting this happened -- Titanic.
When you -- -- when you look it.
American Idol when you look at the voice when you look at X-Factor over the last few years they've struggled to get the talent shows to get the dominance in the market that they had the -- so you think he can dance also.
Is struggling but not in -- way you would think they're continuing to thrive at a time.
It -- even -- a season which people are running from the TV and may be running to the beach.
And guess watt one of the judges one of the producers who really made his name in America we've embraced him as a people -- -- -- people.
Nigel let's go is with Gallo is here right now to tell us as a celebrity judges a producer will go we can expect this season Nigel.
As CEO of year old production company co creator executive producer of So You Think You Can Dance so do you think that the city -- danced and get better.
Well you know it all depends on the talent at the end of the -- I think all of these programs revolve around the talent that's found.
And diamonds in this country is just got -- and better and better.
You know we were talking earlier about you know when I was a kid I used to go and seniority have been.
And Baryshnikov dance and they with the greatest dances in the world they're doing 1213 fairway -- -- just turning on the spot that many times.
Now all the kids can do that that the strength of -- in this country has become except it.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- He got Tuesday July 23.
The top sixteen compete.
CD -- dances on Tuesdays at 8 o'clock it's on the Fox Channel.
And -- to your fresh off American Idol season which still got great ratings but not the racing used to get.
I mean that was not -- been great to find out -- -- going to be producing them anymore.
Well you know and yeah -- left quite sure it was course judged against itself which is always tough because this is a program that you do get 35 million viewers in -- -- but it's been around for twelve seasons ago and into -- thirteenth season now.
So -- -- sixty hours of television.
In and -- who is gonna commit to watching 60000 television nowadays it's a tough -- Then you've got the voice against you you've got Fox's own X-Factor against it so yeah it's gonna dip in the ratings.
But it was still the number one and -- -- right.
Number one in his side this year -- -- try to remake it to revive it I was just talking assignment a couple of weeks ago in Queens is -- your -- which you for X-Factor.
He wouldn't Simon cal.
Would not -- he says aren't I know that there's still an appetite for these talent shows.
So you know Ed Sullivan goes for twenty years and and we had Star Search that goes for many years of that McMahon.
They eventually Peter he is not I think we can do we -- do what right do you say when I I do I do feel selling this is this is about you know.
Every year it does and you.
A lot of talent that come out we take about fifteen on American Idol.
Every year people go to B fifty -- years of age and they come with that talent that's that's three generating town all the time.
Talent like carry -- a talent like Kelly Clarkson.
And this is an incredible country for producing talent and yet we don't always find it -- companies no longer invest in -- -- not to go out find them.
Shows like the voice shows like expect an American Idol are actually going out there around the country and as saying we're coming to you you don't have to come and audition without -- -- -- add to your city.
So now do you not only are dialects -- choice and I watch you the -- -- -- it'll be in the truck and a covered an 87 American Idol finals.
And there's a lot of pressure on the live show you a lot of moving parts -- superstores are disposed to surprise.
And you're a guy in charge.
But you're also a guy who likes the camera the camera -- you here's an example.
-- nice jewels.
The last two episodes So You Think You Can Dance Nigel being Nigel.
-- -- Ladies and dads and -- well Camille -- CC AA.
We have exactly think the key thing and that they bully himself McFadden -- still lit the gas.
How how well no brings it.
According to the great Jessie.
Goodness but you remove impossible but it didn't even know they could moot if I ever come back I'll come back is one of -- elects not to have.
I told you what a comeback kid the other one -- It doesn't get rid of -- my best -- place.
And those -- something that no one can really say anymore about -- -- -- you've got such a lovely little -- look about you that my eyes are always attracted -- even when -- in -- group -- looks -- -- that's good things and the bad thing I know you're talking about it being a Tinker -- for me yes I agree -- that if she was a little too light for me she is a little too childish for me.
Release Marco brought out the woman that you -- the electrifying kiss at the end to end.
I it was another Sullivan north T really take advantage of both Bellman.
Let me give you a tip child.
You keep dancing like that you'll find yourselves in the finale.
So now I don't that was you being -- that's frightening just listening to it's as easy as you're commenting review -- you gotta be tough the FB real did you also have a -- Does -- make it tough to tell people you could see.
This entire eagle is on the line in the -- -- their self esteem yes and now I've got to be honest -- you you know I grew up as a -- -- Dancers get rejected all the time.
You go along to an audition you -- your life out you know -- these auditions and then you rejected.
So it's something you have to get used to the -- -- an exceptionally.
I'd I'd go dances like -- for 290 -- you know.
So you've got to be tough.
To withstand the pressures of dancing.
That the physical pressures of -- as well.
But the mental pressures -- just as tough so you know I Camby main and I mean to be mean sometimes -- sometimes it needs a slap.
To sort of get yourself together.
The same time we always try and -- constructive.
And it's got just a question of Pakistan -- going to happen.
Right at the same time to you you want people -- -- I was bullied at that I understand.
Pop idol you were -- the -- in person he was very empowered house here.
-- -- -- -- -- thinks I was that is you know he -- became the villain and people like.
They like to death like yeah it's good it's I think it's good -- -- to be honest and keep an integrity and with what you're doing you don't always have to compliment you don't always have to be.
The nice guy.
At the same time you don't necessarily need to beat the bad guy either.
He just be honest it's it's really tough I think for the stars nowadays because don't forget when we started.
This season ten for you this season -- with -- But it would idle when we started nobody knew Randy Jackson in that way nobody knew Simon in that right.
So they had nothing to lose now they're bringing big stars and a big -- doesn't want to be mean -- cruel and they're gonna stop buying their records of the gonna stop going to that digs unit.
So they they're always gonna tempo what they -- So one thing -- we were discussing before is.
You can have three great -- to regain hosts it's how they get along these chemists so -- but if you have Mariah Carey is a mega story you have Britney Britney Spears who's a mega store.
I have you with -- two thirds -- people got to -- watch them and then maybe you have a an executive like yourself but doesn't work like that you're saying that people.
Are afraid that they got to be perceived as bad and the people gonna keep -- -- gonna hurt their own brand.
By being critical shot why would the most successful producers in the world not realize that.
And I am.
Would well that's a question you're gonna have to last them Brian rather than making.
But hey -- junction to be frank with you sometimes you don't see the wood for the trees you know the first things that flies out the -- is common sense a lot of the time.
And and you know when you working with people if you've got good chemistry that job small fun.
The whole thing is better if -- look at the chemistry that I particularly like between Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on the voice.
They've got a great camaraderie going that makes me want to watch the program because I enjoy seeing what they're doing.
I've always said it shouldn't just be about the judges it should be about the -- of this in front of the judges.
But because we using big stars now of course it's going to be about the judge why don't feel that -- there drew simple web tool to be -- Very familiar with -- Especially Paula Dole's case the do you like the rotation well as you know there were both on the show last week I was a little unsure about Erin Andrews I didn't know what she knew about -- -- on Dancing With The Stars she was she just has -- -- with the stars and she's a great commentator I mean she's a good interview with sport.
I but I didn't know what I was gonna get from.
I've got to say I thought she was absolutely marvelous she Donahoe was she knew the dances she knew the dance styles.
And she got on really well she was just lively and full of energy.
Paula there isn't anybody in this country that knows dogs and the you know the success that does come bring.
Them pull up at this time so really happy to have her on she's currently a ferret down -- a -- month and a judge and you get all Mary Murphy well.
Also -- July 27 is national dance stairs it is and the Nigel Nigel your foundation dizzy he'll be holding their celebration.
Of dance gallon yes yes of the music center in Los Angeles and also the Kennedy -- during rush huge Dunst as well in Washington.
And that then they actually doing it from the morning right the way through into the evening so national downstate is slowly taking off I'd say it's something really important you don't have to be -- -- To -- -- the united get up to move on national announced I -- and I hope you'll go on line.
And go to the dizzy feet foundation -- -- can -- the -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I didn't -- told to Beth.
About it and myself into it and she's a -- a fabulous actress from two broke girls.
And she dressed up as a woman in the pencil sized video and Adam and I both put on the white -- in the -- top.
And prints to for a funny old and I feel.
It was embarrassing you were -- -- -- You -- physical types -- -- -- tights I just thought they were just a little small.
Well it is.
It was a it was a great little package.
I'm Nigel but I like to do his Bill Hemmer is gonna come in here we've -- it just got.
Bill Hemmer is gonna commit this CD can dance airs Tuesdays at 8 o'clock on fox 7 central and we're actually going to -- Once Martha on Allison is Martha on at nine.
Okay so well we'll talk a little bit more about this and talk about the entertainment as the industry as well as Fox's lineup.
As we move forward because this is very adjusting time remember American Idol started didn't start in the summer -- did you know so a lot of great shows were born in the summer I think Steinfeld got its teeth in the summer to.
And that he re aired in so few people watch but they like -- critically they were actually able aired again as almost fresh episodes but people saw the potential.
Nigel with goes here he's the CEO of Nigel -- go.
Productions -- more importantly.
So You Think You Can Dance is in its tenth season now and still thriving back with the inside stories and more -- -- the lead in France.
It's this is here you're watching -- to transact common the podcast.
You're seeing Nigel let's go here and he's -- he's the dual role of judge as well as executive producer.
Of So You Think You Can Dance -- was in charge of American -- for years in -- out of there a couple of times.
Any CEO of -- with co productions so he's always busy.
And he always looks so much stress frees a man in command is now starting -- always -- Tuesday and he giggles in the background Tuesdays at 8 o'clock.
On fox it's ready for its next season now Nigel do you find when you meet.
That one -- more gratifying things you do being that you have a dance background is -- giving the spotlight to people who would normally never get the spotlight.
You bring in the fronts that are given an opportunity to be successful for the most part a lot of singers a lot of the width title.
A battle with X-Factor to it the so the fox show and I these dances that we -- a shot at success.
You know -- that that platform neutral about it certainly -- American Idol has been enormous and and created stops.
I'm really done so much for the music business as a whole.
In this country but with -- you know dance is on that platform.
-- street he wasn't recognized.
Ten years ago now that's been pushed to the front choreographers -- being pushed to the front.
You know I don't think you're ever going to see a major superstar in -- in our lifetime elected Gene Kelly or for the -- -- ganging.
But -- is that because the United Nations hidden musical movies like that do well that this step up movies I mean.
Don't forget that's -- Channing Tatum started in a step up movie the very first step a movie he was the star of that going on -- which success.
They just not that they they feel a bit corny nowadays.
Really so it's his self awareness it's a good.
And I don't know anybody that you mean it's corny to EB birds for movie to be done not for the -- -- I did I you know I don't think we really get off fanning.
More on all of a sudden and stunning just saying does sound good mom saying but that's pro life and in what some -- like you actually go to Broadway you sit in at the -- and you expect it but and and television.
-- terms -- -- date that the feeling of the sound of music happening and you walk into a field it's not -- it just feels a bit.
She's so how do you keep the show fresh ten years in and night and not be subjected to maybe it is their loss of audience -- other.
Other talent shows have -- -- history yet -- I think history proves that there is a natural erosion.
Of an audience so you just trying keep it as fresh as you can you know -- -- you've got to be really careful not to jump the shock.
I hate the idea of introducing wild content and this week you know none of you are going you -- -- and two of Uga next week.
To fiddle around with formats is absolutely crazy this is well before my -- This is what you laughed as long as we bring the right talent and -- gonna continue to love it because.
That's what we like to see we we all like to see people get on there's this wonderful thing of of the American dream.
And that's what it is but got -- the one guy may just out the next you know.
-- the music industry in the beginning and you saw this much more than I would ever on the outside and the inside thought.
-- -- -- -- this between I've been in twenty years the twenty years become successful these guys -- of successful overnight we -- women.
I resent Carrie Underwood are resent Kelly Clarkson now they've got to accept it.
Because music is really go through a tough time as an industry do you get any of that resentment when you put on your shelves.
I as a lot of resentment from just doing reality shows and you go to the Emmys and the right -- is almost spaced our new unit.
At UCL -- they thought that reality wouldn't be around well get used to it comes in drama that was it via a reality is gonna be around forever and you just -- get as many reality shows and and the ones that are acceptable to the public they'll watch in the months ago and watch -- disappear.
That's the same as as anything else that you believe Carrie Underwood -- emerge to Kelly Clarkson would have emerged as.
Daughtry would have observed emerged without you guys on idol Kelly -- was in Hollywood for about three months -- -- Carrie Underwood was on a little bomb not a without shows like American Idol.
They would not have not -- bullets go out watch So You Think You Can Dance season -- is is under way Tuesdays at 8 o'clock.
And of course July 23 top sixty defeat to -- and the national dance day in July 27 thanks Nigel.
