A lot of talk about how this affects each of us individually.
There's also a lot of talk about how it affects the businesses that cost.
Two businesses so let's -- a business owner Ryan Tate is president of take publishing and enterprises are joining me in this you do not good to see him.
-- so how long does it affect you or do you even know fully yet how it affects.
Literally that's the million dollar question for us.
There's a lot of uncertainty out there which from a business standpoint is an extremely frustrating that I can't go to my staff and say hey.
Hear your options this will be Affordable Care Act looks like this how much of -- we go to the doctor.
I know for us in Oklahoma we use one of the largest private insurance providers blue cross blue shield him.
We have the -- -- renewal -- they've increased our premiums 31 point 7%.
That -- that the Emanuel.
Did the insurance company challenges you you.
There's been -- -- has grown up by 31% in our case thirty and I'm the poster child.
For what an insurance company would want young staff healthy staff I pay for a 100% of my employees' coverage as well as their families.
They don't participate at all I cover the entire cost.
Have doesn't your choice.
-- that point.
Is to either increase the premiums that you take out all of your employees.
Salary every week -- -- -- -- however often you pay them all to swallow that cost yourself and lose.
Profit and again our situation is unique in that are my employees don't produce -- -- all -- cover a 100% so I'm just person making the decision do I wanted to swallow.
But -- -- 2% increase in premiums and that's not possible it can't be done.
And and President Obama has said you know you feel like your insurance you can keep it.
In my case I can keep it if I wanna pay a 32% increase in premiums and that's even if these private insurance providers are still around many years and it.
-- I how many employees you have I've got about 300 on my policy.
About a 120.
Employees in the United States of America that are on this plan.
So that's a loft of money it's -- bottoms and increase times 100 literally it's the million dollar question is what do I do not.
Not now when do you believe you -- it'll become clear.
-- -- not your decision but should -- exactly what it's gonna.
Again when you look at what this this administration has done was take the employer mandate middle of the night they can put arbitrarily push it back.
I had any confidence at all that they're going to be able to implement this the way they stay with the deadlines they have been the -- I've never seen anything like this before.
And so you have individuals like myself other business owners and CEOs I know.
That we sit in rooms and we try and make decisions off of fixed costs we want to provide good health care for our our employees and their families who want them to have an incredibly good work environments.
But we know I don't know what my fixed costs will be when I don't know what tomorrow looks like and I can answer those questions it puts a lot of uncertainty on the market.
Yet the what the it that Democrats and -- and the White House say that.
Affordable care act is reducing.
For individuals that is there a balance there if they are right and it reduces the -- first certain individuals.
Is there a balance that perhaps business owners should pay a little bit more.
-- -- -- -- All I can tell you is what it's like in the trenches as a business owner what I'm faced with.
I've not seen a reduction I've not seen a better situation all I can tell you is the decisions I'm -- to make.
Period is there increases it's more money premiums -- increasing.
Quality of care is decreasing I mean it's it's it's a it's a very scary place.
Litters of what is pay for health care rank in terms of the expenses for business and you'll signs trip for me it's my third largest expense and -- -- -- -- After I've got -- I guess salaries advertising health -- and so it is not a small decision for me it's not a small decision for any business owner.
We take it very very seriously we're committed to providing taking care of -- police.
Makes everybody have to get creative deity and that one of the ways that you could get created a great question.
Again you can price -- quote other insurance provider stuff like that.
-- the chairman of the governing board for -- hospitals in Canadian county which is where we live in where even looking -- health initiatives were going to the largest.
Health care providers and saying.
-- go direct from my company let my staff good all of your hospitals clinics primary care physicians.
So let's get blue cross blue shield Aetna you know you know let's get these guys.
Let's go direct gimme some options.
And there's some promise there.
None but again the uncertainty is I've never seeming like it doesn't really need more than anything are our definitive -- we -- we need definitive answers.
And I am in a situation where if I go to my staff and I looked him in the I can answer their questions about what the Affordable Care Act looks like how much it costs and when they go to the doctors what -- -- akin answering those questions.
And how -- we is business -- supposed to make any decisions at that level of uncertainty.
