The Fox News alert on the potential security threat to our nation's embassies in certain parts of the world fourteen.
Different outposts are shutting down this weekend and most of them are in the Muslim world include Egypt to Libya Afghanistan the embassy in Israel also closing.
The State Department not giving us a whole lot of information right now only saying that it's acting on the side of caution after undisclosed threats.
The department has been a price of information that out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting our installation.
-- that indicates we should institute these precautionary steps.
Jack -- is a retired four star general former vice chief of staff of the army Fox News military analyst.
-- -- general -- always good to talk you pentagon officials says there's been no movement.
Of forces but that we always take the necessary precautions to respond to threats so how are we defending our embassies.
Well first of all.
Those embassies are primarily defended by host country and -- host countries cannot adequately defend them as in Afghanistan and also I was and Baghdad we have.
Serious security forces there that a protecting them.
While we may not be mobilize and any forces in terms of movement week to be sure we have alerted forces.
And so that they can respond rapidly to any any threat.
Now what we talk about forces are we talking.
All or would drones be considered forces it in in a case like this would we.
Put drones up in the air and have them be on standby in the event of of these sort of unspecified threats.
All -- of our drones have limited range so the cronyism in that country it's not gonna have much use.
This is actual forces these -- organizations.
Much as we will have alerted on the night -- Ben Ghazi.
Organizations like that are on alert right now because of this.
There's apparently went beyond the usual chatter.
That our Intel always pick up terrorists talking about sort of lofty plans that that things that they would like to carry out this was more specific more serious serious enough for them to shut these embassies down.
On Sunday and I understand general that some of these places are gonna remain closed for.
For longer than that what what you know based on your experience your background what do you think they picked up on.
Also -- it.
They shouldn't say too much and that's good yeah they may have a specific threat against an embassy and they don't want to reveal that they know it.
Or they may have.
Even larger threat which is simultaneous embassies but I'm actually convinced -- that this is the result.
All of the growing rise of al-Qaeda in the region and they have been sold emboldened.
From the success they achieve that -- Ghazi it exceeded their expectations.
And actually electrified them.
The movement they hadn't had a success like that since the original.
9/11 and actually shocked the region there on the rise.
And day when they sense weakness they attack.
And they believe that we're pulling back and they were stunned.
Absolutely stunned that we did not come after them immediately after that attack.
As we did after 9/11 2001.
We yes we conducted an investigation to be -- At the 2001.
But we attacked them within two to three weeks and we've known who this organization is -- AS who did that attack.
And we should have been after them within hours going right to their leaders and -- of the organization.
Talk about sending messages -- you know they've been there watching everybody is watching and listening.
To what decisions are made and so they hear this announcement that terrorists that we're closing our embassies -- day.
Or -- or maybe longer in some parts of the world what kind of message does that send is that a sign of weakness today.
Listen -- that the US can't protect its -- so they're shutting them down.
What's the signal there well -- They react to everything and and certainly it if we're closing functions -- close in the embassies.
Yes and in some circles within them is still take that as some kind of -- victory.
But if they have a plan in placements they tailed.
And -- confident about it they probably consent to continue to plan regardless of one attempts were making to to thwart that plan so.
But the the major point our -- glorious past on the Stan.
These guys were at war with us they want to dominate the Muslim regions.
They want -- control those countries that noble one strategic objective to accomplish that Rick is that drive the United States out of the region.
The means to do that is to kill us and one more question for you -- -- before we run at a time the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Past saying a proposal.
And -- kind -- this has but -- to better defend our embassies.
Abroad is congress freeing up the kind of money that's necessary.
The resource is this needed in order to defend these outposts around the world.
Well after the fiasco and been Gaza in a lack -- -- -- security for that consulate.
I cannot imagine the State Department common phone with a plan.
To increase of security about the US outpost in the congress not -- it it has got to be one of our top.
Priorities and and certainly I I would expect it would be fun.
General Jack -- Fox News military analyst always a pleasure talk to you sir thanks so much for your time.
