I -- actually a market and now it's time to talk new movies this Friday at their -- going to start with a corner of the eight people hoping his character -- of -- at the box offense.
It's in eightieth chapters you to joining me now is -- at city editor in Cedar Rapids native dot com.
A -- that these movies do tend to do well and if it is people of an already proven hit so what do you think insidious chapter -- You know this one's gonna have a tough road ahead -- the critics are liking it that much although I will say.
Critics don't really move the needle when it comes to these types of scary movies now insidious chapter two picks up right where the first one left off.
We've got Patrick Wilson and Rose -- returning for the sequel.
The first was a huge hit and I expect that this one should do pretty well.
I didn't seem director James -- same writer -- -- -- Fans are gonna get a little bit more than they expected here and I think it's gonna do pretty good business of the box office.
Yes and I don't have to see part one understand -- -- it is PG thirteen but it's almost scary has supernatural carousel.
That factor in that I thought that that it isn't PG thirteen movie but it's -- scary movie.
It's certainly does broaden the audience that's always the challenge -- an.
So this one will open it up and out it doesn't make this movie any less scary it's just more implied actually think it's a pretty savvy move doing a movie like this with the PG thirteen to that they said.
It makes it larger potential audience and we probably should see a little bit higher return of the box office.
And -- Patrick Wilson who stars an angle also has starred in the conjuring.
Which was a big hit now does that how horrid as that -- -- people of CNN they think they might get -- confused what do you think.
No I think it does help Patrick Wilson's been on a string of successful films lately.
And I think this just continues to cement his star power at the box office.
I expect it we're gonna see him headline even more movies in the future I had -- great to see because he's a fantastic actor.
Okay what does that tomato meter say for Nvidia chapter -- tomato meter I will say -- millimeters not particularly positive only 42%.
Only 42% of the critics like it which means that we call it rotten.
-- but again as I mentioned critics don't really have a huge effect when it comes to these types of scary movies.
So I think it should do do pretty well with our audiences this weekend.
Okay and that we see the family up there too so.
Another family that can't seem to escape trouble is the family of this.
Starring Robert De Niro Michelle fight for her -- Akram from -- and John DiLeo played their kids.
I -- this one up for us first what is the family all about.
Is so this is a story about a mob boss played by Robert -- who.
-- turns evidence against his mafia cronies and gets put in the witness protection program.
And they've gone through a few different towns because this family just can't keep from solving things in their own violent -- so now they're in a small town in France.
And of course they try to stick to their old ways and they're old enemies come -- calling.
Robert De Niro Michelle Pfeiffer -- the heads of the family here Tommy Lee Jones is the government -- -- to keep them under wraps started Bagram is their daughter.
This movie is not particularly funny according to critics and that's where it really falls apart.
So toll 32% -- the tomato meter everybody wanted something a lot funnier from director lupus not just got some good movies in his past.
But the critics aren't really that satisfied and I think this one may have a tougher time of the box office this weekend.
Okay I'll have to see and they both got against the rig which -- the box office last weekend they'll as you mentioned it was a slow week.
Because it was the only wide release.
Do you predict that one of these -- look you know vs -- my topped the box office this time.
I think I.
I think so I think that insidious to wizard got a good shot at taking the weekend although I think it's going to be another slow weekend you know -- the second week of NFL football.
I think people are still going to be watching that and it's not till the next coming weeks.
That we're gonna really start to see the box office heat up again.
