I commend house leadership.
For listening to the American people they did their job they stood up and this is a bold decision and -- and I look forward.
There and working with Mike to fight in the senate to support this decision for us to succeed and -- funding -- -- that was the answer from Texas senator Ted Cruz last night on Hannity with Sean Hannity appearing there with Mike Lee.
Republican senator from Utah explaining well.
They're not going to be able let's stop.
The funding of the government resolution or stop Harry Reid from stripping out.
A provision in a bill that would defund the president's health law and then it's going to be up to the house to get the job done they'll do all they can.
And this is power play and you know.
Both personal two important things one.
I feel much shorter.
Then when we're sitting down but you already know you know God's name and he is a -- -- -- -- to get the -- is Washington bureau chief.
-- -- yes that is true.
And we are -- here at the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building didn't quite so here because.
I don't know whether you know this but we have some lineup changes taking place at the Fox News Channel.
As a consequence our studio space has been.
I would say -- but it is being otherwise used for a little while that means that we need to go on the road are -- gets -- north Rutherford it's occupied territory right -- -- it's friendly it's a friendly forces we're going to be we're going to be out on the road maybe here.
Maybe -- Danny's I don't know we're just going to be -- we're just going to be going and going and it's going to be good fun so we're actually pretty excited about.
That having that said.
So John Boehner the speaker of the house surprise people.
When he said okay conservative you want pay continuing resolution funding the government.
That also would defund obamacare we're gonna bring it forward and -- and it'll clearly passed one would think.
This caused a surprise.
Then there was a strange.
I don't want to I don't want to criticize anyone's motives like I did but there was a response.
Ted Cruz said sort of what he'd been saying all along.
Which was like hey were a small part of the minority in the senate Harry Reid's got the votes.
If this is a mistake it's going to be in the house and so -- -- you said you wanted us to do this how dare you not I guess they wanted him to filibuster this like they've done on the ground.
Yes that's right and -- did you know that the house -- You don't want to be in the leadership didn't want consumer wouldn't want him to write as far as me to return this is not a good idea.
But the leadership is not really in control of the party over there anymore so when they finally agreed okay we'll do this.
They expected Ted -- who could very much has been growing up the house Republicans his staff works very closely with the conservatives in the house.
To try to block some of the things we -- want to do over there and I thought he was going to stand with them or at least give them some kind of cover and instead he's sort of -- -- extra by the way.
Move on -- -- well.
Cruise and this and this is the thing crews never sent.
That he was going to filibuster and he never said.
I mean it's you know throw my body in front of the train and we will be holding a midnight filibuster when the government shuts down and they turn out the -- What he said was -- to do a grant he was going to keep he's calling -- army of support from the public and that he was going to try to change the public's mind.
He went out on the campaign trail during August.
Let's -- doesn't seem to be there.
No it's not clear in the senate -- -- -- and are certainly core group members of the senate that are very much supporting him.
You know Mike we rubio.
Couple others but it never really worked with the moderates in the offense into their.
Think what is is where there are itself the state of play now is this house is going steal it sounds like to launch this.
Clean I guess is what -- -- clean defund it.
-- they say it continue to fund government open about it in the -- it's -- of the senate Harry -- is gonna pick it -- he's going to strip -- that component that I would guarantee -- -- runs.
That what will happen means that they will -- -- owned by the way -- the sequestration.
When he goes back from the senate you can guarantee that your -- -- -- and by the way.
You're going to restore all of the funding -- everything that we had before.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- Well that's a great question I had to get off those.
The movie that I'm hearing -- Smart money is that -- the and if -- could keep him from doing that can -- infamous room supposed to find a way to get around sponsor situation.
Fuel in the and moved through with Democrats.
After he's done this bill com.
With you with the understanding with -- conference that would make it to the debt that -- play in two weeks that's where you'll hold the one permanently onto funding or delaying obamacare.
The question was whether or not his guys we're gonna he can Marshal enough people in this production costs of builder coming here -- an all time.
The new plan it.
But they're doing in -- -- -- -- -- plan B last concert in private and they tend and it anyway who get.
This time they're trying to do more transparently with members.
And -- delaying the individual mandate president's help on this long and trying to put some bargaining chips in -- -- That seems to be gainers -- -- for having any leverage when you get down to visit to the end of the month.
Right right and when he just fun to do with with very reason and editor of President Obama for room with a -- do it.
It's not probably Superfund because that's definitely -- It's not like the -- -- congressman is definitely not fun speaker of the house so your money it says shut down and kept him.
I think in the in this house now to check points I think that they're that bigger isn't pretty new -- that you didn't.
Even if it's going to hurt his leadership more than sort of been hurt I think he's gonna -- -- -- our party will -- much harder consequences -- -- -- on the government.
You know stuff you know -- -- he doesn't know where they keep jackets here.
See you wouldn't see is that if you if you didn't I think we thank you for making time for us what -- we appreciate it okay Internet.
The -- -- rolls on over here on Capitol Hill when we come back how about Ford O'Connell and Alan Holmes yes yes.
And we'll talk about the president says that John Boehner is an extortionist.
Baseball hostage takers -- -- call this an improvement he says that John Boehner is an extortionist and he will not negotiate with him under any circumstances.
We'll explore that question when we come back -- stick around.
You have never seen in the history of the United States the debt ceiling.
Where the threat of not raising -- that's being used to extort.
A president or.
-- a governing party.
And and trying to force issues that have nothing do with the budget and have nothing to do with the debt.
And that is how you get for Pinocchio from the Washington Post President Obama yesterday claiming the Republicans were doing something wholly new and trying to extort changes to things.
Other than just fiscal policy.
By talking about the debt ceiling.
And this is coming few moments from the Russians and it.
On the road on the -- on death welcome back and welcome to Alan Holmes.
What shall we say about Alan except for that -- is fair minded he's perfect agencies housed in the Alan Colmes radio show he is proprietor of Alan dot com.
He's -- Fox News contributor hi Alan.
-- -- I wish I understood all those words and I'm hearing myself good.
You're getting feedback from -- -- well I don't hear myself it's painful.
-- -- that he loved laughter.
-- -- -- Obama he is a former McCain Palin presidential campaign advisor yes he's chairman and it's an excellent point yes you the author of the book.
About politics all -- merit.
And on -- -- -- to report Republican -- come on alligator -- -- their existing and Islamic Catholic -- I'm a Protestant school.
-- -- down here on -- okay.
-- the president.
-- -- -- -- -- Why would the president had negotiations with Republicans over something say that there extortionist for asking him to negotiate.
Well first of all the the you know they've raised the debt ceiling nineteen times manager to be bush and increase the debt ceiling four trillion dollars without.
Without a thought twice as president being treated differently but what did this last time they -- resulted in Moody's lowering that -- Rating of the country.
The rating of the country why did why go to the second whether Republicans play this game and threatening to check on the government telling it hurt them politically.
They never had a problem when it was -- to -- bush doing it why the double standard.
-- work -- that our best peeling and forward the question is.
The Republican answer is always with the Democrats -- -- and the Democrats definitely do this first thing I don't 53.
I mean in the current iteration absolutely of our budget let's federal government since 2007 the Democrats drew first blood in the debt ceiling Helio.
We then Senator Obama and senator Reid.
But at this point we are now among 33.
Essentially an ongoing budget impasse.
Isn't there something -- -- went about.
Is it too dangerous at this point to do it again.
Absolutely not a united I don't think that the at the end of the day they're -- reason but the point though we use that you do yes I do but the whole point the regional of the deaths I wanna.
It's so that both stories -- congress can actually use leverage on the White House.
That's why we keep it in place and essentially the house Republicans want to get something out.
Whether it's -- Keystone Pipeline approval I don't know what it may be.
But trust me there's the whole reason -- we have that's that's not extortion.
-- -- -- -- -- America's extortionist politics sound that's just how occasionally -- you -- distortions you know that's a way to gamers play I don't remember that against when bush the president.
There's always I know people that -- it up -- but there's a double standard.
There's not a double standard Senator Obama didn't want to raise the debt -- how -- -- the congressional Republicans are trying to do right now.
And trying to gain leverage on the white by thrilling life threatening to shut down the government they're causing uncertainty in the markets -- would cause Moody's to lower the.
Bottom of the country and that yeah and -- yeah.
We got to move the inventory -- the democratic argument essentially there's more in this is that there's more at stake now because Democrats knew that they wouldn't be effective.
When they have opposed bush and Obama sort of thing touted himself and we were doing and it was political this is actually -- Obama was wonderful president gets complicated.
Calling somebody the president once called Republicans hostage takers in his first go around well when he ten.
He called them hostage K -- now he calls -- extortion.
Well you know maybe there is what is I understand your point of view is that this is extortion my question is for the president what is to be gain.
By that characterization.
I don't know it is supposed to rollover and play dead bit Boehner is not -- -- does not have the sweetest town.
In the west you know I mean here's a guy but they -- -- and I'm glad I can make you laugh and you know.
All right we can argue about verbiage but it happens again it does happen on both sides may be.
Yet I don't know I don't speak for the president so AI contrary to what you think I'm not as officials spoke spraying.
They never thought I would -- there you know -- not exactly the kindest person when it comes to his description of their stipulated today it's on -- -- the president's numbers are upside down when he when he draws red -- in the rest of the world doesn't stand behind he's throwing red line right now because he wants to -- Atlanta back and he wants to move his numbers on this facility this Syrian diplomatic solution was jokes.
Everything he's done as a -- so far basically house Republicans have called them out and now wants his -- so if you.
-- -- -- -- W that they hit beautiful the president -- joke look at congress' numbers look at the congress' numbers compared to the president's numbers and then we'll talk okay.
All of you kidding me congress has always been an appointment you know whether that -- that is the president has ever came out of that -- -- -- -- silent as they are now that's why it's round.
Gentlemen that's a lot of background that's OK so here is the last thing.
Will there be a shot down yes we're now -- do now from New York -- -- back around -- who didn't show how they're how they're not that stupid.
How -- result the last minute they'll buckle -- doesn't -- most politicos are resigned to do it does if they won't do it.
-- that they will not -- the clinic where do you say.
They won't jump the cliff because essentially can't -- from a minority and all they have to worry about doing right now is actually winning seats and taking control -- -- between fourteen and win the White House and 116 and then.
You can actually repeal and replace a good luck where that.
-- politics politics to take -- analogy is like football except there's no playoff.
There's no Super Bowl it's just week after week of game after game -- you can always tell you where people.
Well there's another election next year there's always another election next year and that's how you get through I promise it works out.
-- we thank you very much -- bringing your personal -- to us whenever that is again.
Good it's good and -- -- I wanna say you look pretty comfortable over here if he ends up running for senate -- -- Not -- surprised.
OK Internet we're gonna take a quick break but when we come back how about the head of the Republican Study Committee the group of conservative Republicans who have put forward they say.
Their alternative to replace the president's health law it is the crucial -- -- house speaker John Boehner.
Tries to forge some sort of a plan to go forward.
He will be with you he will tell you what he thinks and what he knows when we come back to stick around.
Close it's a terrible -- appropriations bill the CR.
But he's also -- and that -- Puts insurance companies back in charge of medical decisions for America's -- And that.
Was House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi a press conference earlier today.
Saying that all Republicans wanted to do was put insurance companies in charge of people's lives.
And this is power play now.
If you can get.
And we're at Russell these Russell Senate Office Building it's pretty cool welcome back now if you can't get.
The speaker of the former speaker of the house and one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington.
Say that and if you were a conservative Republican you feel like you are probably doing something right.
If you've got her to pay attention.
The guy and his gang who made her say that was -- believes he is a Republican.
He's a congressman from the great state of Louisiana pelican state and you were also.
The head of the Republican Study Committee.
170 members hundreds -- response from -- sorry for the last.
And 175 members the house Republican.
Who are the conservative idea that's right.
Yeah we really this.
-- and strong for conservative policy solutions to our country's problems.
-- were willing to put money where amount doesn't say this is direction that we're -- -- ahead and we wanna keep government funded but we also want to protect Americans from the devastation of obamacare so.
You know when the person who said you have to pass the bill to find out what's in it.
You know says that there's something wrong with what we're doing you -- it it does mean we're probably on the something and actually trying to solve problems and issues.
Cross because what you came -- with your group came up with which is that you said.
Whatever the congress does about implementing or not implementing the president's health law.
This is what you guys like to see as the replacement you have brought forward so that ended in -- political necessity because president always says you Republicans have no.
Alternate plan you just want to get rid of mind.
And it's also may be increased a little leverage for Republicans to say and this is what we want.
And I think it's important lay out what we're for we are very proud of the things that we wanna do we laid them out in the American health care reform act of -- we filed.
That is less than 200 pages it's not the 2.5 hundred page government run health care system.
But actually -- -- -- and lowers cost in health -- and then whenever Nancy Pelosi wants to do with insurance companies.
Our bill actually puts doctors and patients back in charge of health care we get rid of obamacare we get rid of IRS agents being in charge of your health care.
Which is the policy approach.
And so we see how devastating it is in fact it's so bad.
The President Obama himself said look this thing's not working but he only wants to give an exemption.
To his friends and business and ironically to the insurance industry he -- an exemption into the insurance agency.
He doesn't want to give that same exemption to middle class families and that's what we're fighting for we'll give us the bullet points what are we talking about what's the outlook.
The basic free market approach that we're taking sets.
Let's let Americans buy health insurance across state lines you do it with every other product you can buy you wanna buy car insurance you find a company in a different state.
That sells you -- better plan for your family lower cost you can buy it you can't do that with health insurance we break those barriers down so again.
You have more choices now -- as you can lower cost.
We allow small businesses and other organizations like rotary clubs to -- together so that they can get the same buying power is large corporations.
So if you're an individual you know -- -- on your own business.
If you want to go and get together with everybody else in your Rotary Club or any other organization.
You can now get buying power maybe 300 people instead of one person lowers cost we plus tax treatment.
One of the big problems of health care as you if you get -- through your employer they've got a good health care plan that's great.
They can deduct the expenses of your health care.
But if you don't like your employer's plan he wanted to buy -- on your own you have to do it with after tax dollars so you get taxed on your health care plan personally.
-- your employee doesn't and he I don't money for it actually makes me again more options for families you get to -- your own health care costs if you find a better plan for your family more HSAs and things like that absolutely health savings accounts have been very effective.
I've given people more options and -- health costs we increase that amount you can contribute we do real medical liability reform -- -- one thing that is a big driver of cost.
I mean you can save between -- -- -- hundred billion dollars in health -- just by -- common sense medical liability reform.
And -- by the way doctors -- won't have to run all these tests that have nothing to do with your health care.
But doctors tell you about a third of all the tests are just prevent frivolous lawsuits so let's let's stop all that foolishness -- the increasing -- -- comes with a I would put in real life protections so that taxpayer dollars -- used for abortion.
We we solve the problem preexisting condition from -- that actually works and says let's work within the existing state high risk pools.
Also that somebody -- preexisting condition can actually go buy at market rates as opposed to the obamacare approach where.
Where they set up some kind of program that that they literally shut the doors on people with preexisting conditions after just a few weeks so that's getting pretty ugly.
As we get close were just were less than two weeks away from the deadline for funding the government.
We are probably less than a month away.
The -- from reaching the debt ceiling.
It's getting pretty Dicey.
What's the state of play from the from the way you.
And the other members of the study committee look at this.
We're gonna pass a bill this week out of the house that keeps government running a proper levels but it also make sure that that obamacare would be defund it.
And at -- we're gonna send over to the senate and let the senate do their job.
And start debating this bill and take their tough votes.
And then ultimately I think next week you'll see us bring up the debt ceiling vote.
To ensure that we're gonna continue.
To pay our debts but also put real reforms in place that get us on a path to a balanced budget.
Hi this is something that that we've been pushing for and frankly if you go back.
To the 1990s it's it's the only way that that got Bill Clinton finally support -- balanced budget.
And that helps our economy you know we can't keep -- -- a trillion dollars a year money we don't have from countries like China.
We need to get back to common sense of living within our means like every family -- conservatives in the.
House are often described as -- -- this monolithic -- but you all are from different districts in different places and you are if it is not like.
There there is no monolith here.
But in the conversation back and forth that we've heard between house leaders.
And now can cruise and others in the senate about what wolf house conservatives view is a block and how they respond at all of these things.
The message from cruise last night we heard it we heard it from my -- and others is that it's a going to be up to you guys to stand to thwart an even if that means.
A government shutdown is he right.
We know that -- the last line of defense in the house to preserve the free market system and frankly the American dream that people -- fighting for.
And so when you look across the country people want us to be focused on creating jobs people want Washington live within its means and stop probably stop exempting themselves from rules that force -- everybody else.
And yet that's what's going -- with Obama -- and all these other radical regulations coming out of the administration so.
You know by now standing up and fighting insane -- -- we're here in the house fighting for the American people and what our senate Republican colleagues need to stand tall as well.
This isn't just one man shop I mean.
They've gotten opportunities well when we send this bill over this week.
They need to stand tall and fight for the American people too and I'm sure they'll do that.
And and ultimately let's -- -- real contrast the president's health care's not workable.
Not workable to the point where he himself said he needs to be delayed but only for the people who can -- select access to the White House that's not the way government should work.
If it's bad then let every American family get that same relief that the president wants to get to -- select -- very quickly given the choice between.
And shutting down the government -- -- think it's a false choice we definitely can fund government.
-- -- we can also fight to the fund and delay the president's health care law and we're using every legislative tool it's not just government funding the debt ceiling and there are -- number of other options are working with as well.
Congressman thank you know if you -- If you've got teary every time you heard -- by you you would know him already but that's these beliefs is congressman from Louisiana he's.
Boss dog over.
Republican Study Committee congressman thank you and you winners.
We thank you for making time for us today we thank you we hope also sticking around with on the hunt with Jonathan -- -- you will enjoy I promise.
As we like for you every day wherever the wind blows us a word from our friend Charles.
Pressure on -- -- has a reputation.
Has had for over a decade and he's been in power.
For being simple and stupid as -- post -- the father who was a wily dictator I think if you watch him for this hour.
He'd have to conclude the exact opposite he's very Smart.
Extremely sophisticated and one of the great liars of all time.
I'm he spoke for almost an hour I don't think it was a true word.
-- anything you said including the words and invite.
Give you two examples one as you talked about the terrorists is being sort of at the start of the war.
The reason he began the war in the -- new level all the -- he began as a demonstration by school children in general will be then tortured.
