Welcome back to Omaha and I'm Jonathan Hunt on -- to.
Of the government shut down everybody up their -- Capitol Hill.
Blaming each other from Capitol Hill all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue to the white -- it's always somebody else's fault.
So I was saying that congressman Charlie Rangel Democrat of -- -- is always interesting I hear that during a break he was saying.
That's just another way of saying that I disagree with him not so I thought I thought there's not a very good to see -- You guys is that all I ever got -- -- all about these live -- I thought I get hacked up always being very careful around like my cousin tell me what -- this -- You know that the entire country congressman is looking at all of you along up on Capitol Hill -- may be blaming one side more than another but -- essentially this saying.
What the heck do you all doing all that what so what the heck are you all doing.
They're doing absolutely.
Absolutely nothing so split -- those people.
That is not satisfied Marc Anthony -- looked a member of congress and -- we sent you down and not the fighting yet the bit to get.
Something done not that close the government but to reduce.
I better economy and to get people back to work into.
Make certain that we have healthcare for everybody but.
This fighting is embarrassing to me as a member of congress.
And we don't hear from the religious communities from the business communities all of these people out the F.
We have a lot of suffering is not in the House of Representatives.
Not in the senate.
So 1 I am so happy that today.
We can say that all Americans would be able to receive affordable health care but on the other hand I I cannot explain.
Why one group of people want to repeal a bill that's been signed into law -- and -- started to work yes today.
And have a bad I don't blame them for being angry I can see why they may not like the president of may not like the bill.
But to say they get it close on the government.
In order to change it would they know they can't change it I don't understand the politics I'm not blaming anybody to FactSet -- fat.
-- Kool -- -- those are Republican not congressman Adam and some in the senate would say.
We were elected by our constituents to be their represented -- We understand that they really do not like the affordable health cat -- Act so that -- we have to do everything in our power back to make short some parts of it all all of it.
Not dies -- -- may not.
Doing what they were elected to do in a sense congressman.
-- then I haven't made myself clear up by.
They have a right that you do what -- they think as long -- constitutional.
Than it is to do it.
The problem it.
That all Republicans don't feel that way and then not being given by their leadership this -- The opportunity to vote as to whether or not.
They believe that they can repeal the Affordable Care Act.
And whether they put me ahead.
To hold the country hostage -- it and so but those people that believed.
That they hate the president they hate the bill and then not that it changed him mind so be it.
But that doesn't.
Mean that the rest of the Republicans.
Even though it's not to -- eighteen cannot of course be -- And join with Democrats and together as say -- -- said.
We got major problems that they can't have a and a lot of them could be in this bill but we're not going to allow the government to collapse of when not.
To hold a debt ceiling which is even more dangerous what we going to do with the -- -- regular procedure.
To let the public know that we're working odd we have major differences without having hearings be going to go to deploy all we -- have debates.
Probably not going to have millions of people this stuff and -- not gonna have our economy and -- Because one group of people.
Feel that they have voters have told them do all that she can to stop this law -- working.
But -- come congressman does good does the president have a duty to negotiate to some extent or is he absolutely right in -- view here to say.
Wii on not even looking at anything that attaches the continuing resolution to the affordable health care act.
The president has the obligation to negotiate.
On any matters that concern our nation's wealth they had.
-- nation's national security.
And even though legislation.
You bet your life even as we talked.
We cannot really receive -- budget solution.
As the amount that we spend and what we suspended and -- we do have discussions.
With the president.
Now this is what the president has that.
That while he is willing to negotiate and talk about all of these things he's not going to do it.
If it means that if -- Doesn't do what they say the government will remain close and the second thing that he says that sounds so rich it.
Is that respectful.
At the security of the United States as relates to -- full bright full faith and credit.
About bonds that Obama did close the seventeen trillion dollars that he's not -- it.
To tell a handful of people in the congress shall negotiate with you at the expense of telling all of the people.
That the United States can't promise you that they -- to pay back what they bought it on those two issues.
If he allows the government.
Too close to two coat -- to repeal don't look all -- -- you can't do hope then then he.
Is not only acting in unconstitutional.
But as a stupid thing to try to negotiate.
Let's try it out.
-- will negotiate with you and I will repeal.
The the full faith big credit -- well how.
Admit -- president of the united seeds can repeal a law.
He can't do it.
So if I represent this group that's committed to destroy the law.
And the president says talk with Rangel.
And I said Mr.
President America doesn't want this law is not ready for prime time.
It's gonna cause a lot of anguish and decreased permit for me -- -- president would say well Rangel.
What is it -- do I want you to get rid of it in some country X.
The president just says it's called -- him in this country he goes to the congress and say.
You could introduce legislation.
That we need to repeal.
And I promise.
Publicly a group of members of congress that I would support it.
I didn't tell them that I could get the votes bullet.
And I didn't tell them that.
That they would win although I would say is that as president of the United States and responsibility.
It is in the house and it's sad.
I only signed and executed it.
They don't want to do that they want to bring the government down.
And to tell their constituents.
We may not be successful but we fought that fight so long gun -- them.
-- congressman Rangel it really is.
Always interesting to told you whether I agree or disagree doesn't matter along the high hotel -- is the only opinion that matters in this conversation.
I thank you for it so great to see -- Thank you -- that have a great day right you two congressman Charlie Rangel Democrat of New York that joining us from the cannon.
